However, the association dependence on body mass index (BMI) or age was unclear. This study was performed with a group of 4012 Chinese population aged 30 to 92 years old. Subjects were divided into four groups according to the quartiles of uric acid (UA) concentration [First group ≤ 231 μmol/L (reference), Second group 231-289 μmol/L, Third group 289-362 μmol/L, Fourth group > 362 μmol/L]. Hypertension was defined as newly measured blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmHg or taking antihypertensive drugs. Stratified analysis based on BMI ( less then  28 kg/m2 vs ≥ 28 kg/m2) and age ( less then  60 years old vs ≥ 60 years old) to analyze the association between UA and hypertension. Subjects were 54.50 (45.00, 63.00) years old, and 40.98% were male, 38.33% were hypertension. Adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for the association of UA and hypertension were 2.226 (1.662, 2.980), 4.340 (3.253, 5.790), 5.898 (4.434, 7.845) and 6.557 (4.927, 8.727) in the four groups among ≥ 60 years old respectively comparing with first group among  less then  60 years old. Adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) for the association between UA and hypertension were 2.170 (1.236, 3.808), 5.260 (3.267, 8.468), 9.056 (5.509, 14.888) and 3.730 (2.529, 5.550) in the four groups among BMI ≥ 28 kg/m2 respectively comparing with first group among BMI  less then  28 kg/m2. Uric acid was significantly associated with the hypertension. The association was stronger among subjects ≥ 60 years old or BMI ≥ 28 kg/m2.
Although ovarian tissue transportation has been validated for up to 24h, there is no standard protocol to date. We aimed to elucidate how existing media currently used for ovarian tissue transportation affect ovarian tissue metabolism and cell viability.

Cow ovarian fragments were immersed in 0.9% NaCl solution, IVF medium, Leibovitz 15 medium (L-15), or PBS for 1, 4, or 24h at 4°C. Media were analyzed for pH, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, and glucose, pyruvate, and lactate concentrations, while apoptosis was assessed by TUNEL assays in fixed fragments. Viability rates were assessed by flow cytometry (FACS).

There were lower pH levels in NaCl at all time points compared with other media. LDH activity increased with time and was lowest in NaCl at 1 and 4h. There was no significant difference in glucose levels, but a significant pyruvate decrease in L-15 and a significant lactate increase in all media. TUNEL showed apoptosis rates ranging from 0 to 5%. FACS showed a mean of 4% necrotic cells and 15-19% apoptotic cells after 1h of incubation, but less than 1% necrotic cells and 2-6% apoptotic cells after 24h in all media.

Our results indicate marked metabolic activity in ovarian tissue at 4°C and suggest that cells use internal sources of energy, which may influence transplantation outcomes. Graphical abstract.Partial nephrectomy (PN) for small renal masses is common, but outcomes are not reported in a standard manner. Traditionally, parameters such as 90-day mortality, blood loss, transfusion rates, length of stay, nephrometry scoring and complications are published but their collective impact on warm ischemia time (WIT) and post-surgery GFR is rarely determined. Thus, our aim was to assess if "Trifecta" and "Pentafecta" outcomes could be used as useful surgical outcome markers. A prospective database of 252 Robotic-Assisted PN (RAPN) cases (2008-2019) was analysed. "Pentafecta" was defined as achievement of "Trifecta" (negative surgical margin, no postoperative complications and WIT of  less then  25 min) plus over 90% estimated GFR preservation and no CKD stage upgrading at 1 year. Binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to predict factors which may prevent achieving a Trifecta/Pentafecta. Median tumour size was 3 cm and mean WIT was 15 min. Positive surgical margins (PSM) occurred in 2 cases. Overall, the intra-operative complication rate was 7%. JNJ-64619178 order One recurrence conferred 5-year cancer-free survival of 97%.
