RESULTS There were 52articles selected according to the inclusion criteria. Most articles demonstrated that application of LIPUS had positive effects on stem cell differentiation. However, some authors recommended that the combined effects of LIPUS with other physical therapy aides were more effective in the differentiation levels of stem cells. CONCLUSIONS LIPUS significantly increases the level of stem cell differentiation in cells mainly derived from BM MSCs. Clearly, there is a need for further studies to analyze the effect of LIPUS on cells derived from other sources, particularly ADS for treating hard diseases such as osteoporosis and DFU. Due to lack of reporting on standard LIPUS parameters in the field, there is a need more experiments for comparing the protocols for standardization of LIPUS parameters, in order to establish the best protocol. This would allow us for best results. Copyright© Bentham Science Publishers; For any queries, please email at [email protected], cardiac regeneration is a hot topic in the cardiovascular field because of the compelling need for effective therapies for repairing or replacing cardiac tissue damaged by pathological or physiological conditions. Indeed, irreversible myocardial remodeling which follows acute myocardial infarction represents a serious burden of this century. In this context, great improvement in pharmacological and interventional techniques is accompanied by a big challenge of cardiac regenerative medicine. In the last 20 years, several clinical trials tried to investigate the role of different types of stem cells in promoting cardiac repair. However, the promising results obtained in the preclinical trials have not yet been reproduced in patients. Thus, the development of novel strategies to improve stem cell efficiency became imperative. Here, an overview of the more recent cell types proposed for cardiac regeneration is presented, together with the most interesting approaches to enhance cell regenerative potential as well as cell-free approaches. It was later approved by the FDA for the treatment of bipolar disorder. Lamotrigine is generally well tolerated by patients, but some serious side effects can occur during treatment. These include rashes and multi-organ failure. learn more Lamotrigine has also been associated with the development of mental status changes, frequently when used concurrently with other medications that may impact the metabolism of lamotrigine. We will present the case of a 65-year-old man being treated with lamotrigine and valproic acid who developed mental status changes after the addition of sertraline to his medication regimen. We will review previous cases of lamotrigine associated delirium, discuss the metabolism of lamotrigine, and consider the ramifications of polypharmacy in patients being treated with lamotrigine. Finally, we will commenture. DISCUSSION Our case adds to the existing literature by demonstrating that patients may experience adverse medication effects despite lamotrigine levels that are normally considered to be in the therapeutic range, highlighting the importance of clinical correlation when obtaining medication levels. CONCLUSION Clinicians should use caution interpreting lamotrigine levels when working up delirium, as normal levels may not rule out the development of lamotrigine toxicity. We have synthesized a novel class of carboxamide derivatives by coupling various substituted aromatic acid hydrazides and triazole-amine with pyrrolidine carboxylic acid by using coupling agents. The synthesized compounds are characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR, HRMS and NMR. These compounds are investigated for cytotoxicity on different cancer cell lines and heparanase inhibitory activity. Most of them showed moderate heparanase inhibitory activity and good efficacy against cytotoxicity. These two strains may have distinct genetic mutations which resulted in distinct patterns of pathogenesis related to the viral gene, Vpr. OBJECTIVE The amino acid pattern and genetic diversity of Vpr were analyzed and characterized in HIV-1 CRF01_AE and CRF07_BC HIV-1 strains. METHOD The Vpr gene was amplified from extracted viral RNA and DNA sequencing was performed using an ABI3730 analyzer. The positional amino acid composition, genetic variation and distance of Vpr sequence were analyzed by Bio-Edit 7.2 and Mega 6.01 software packages. RESULTS A total of 162 CRF01_AE and 80 CRF07_BC derived Vpr sequences were obtained by DNA sequencing. CRF01_AE patients showed higher viral load and lower CD4 counts than CRF07_BC patients (P less then 0.05). Higher genetic distance and more polymorphic amino acids were found in CRF01_AE Vpr than CRF07_BC Vpr (P less then 0.05). The common conservative amino acid region was identified as 29EAVRHFP35 in both CRF07_BC and CRF01_AE. Of note, the R77Q mutation was found in both the most recently Chinese derived CRF07_BC and CRF01_AE Vpr. CONCLUSION CRF01_AE derived Vpr has higher genetic variation and pathogenesis in comparison to the CRF07_BC strain. Copyright© Bentham Science Publishers; For any queries, please email at [email protected] overload is the most common complication in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, being directly related to numerous complications including resistant hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, congestive heart failure or arterial stiffness, among others. Therefore, volume overload is now considered an important risk factor for hard outcomes, like all-cause or cardiovascular mortality. Relying solely on clinical examination for assessing volume overload in ESRD patients lacks sensitivity and specificity. Numerous efforts have been made to identify new methods that could objectively assess volume status; however, each of them has important limitations. This review aims to discuss the most frequently used of these methods (biomarkers, inferior vena cava assessment, lung ultrasonography, bioimpedance analysis and blood volume monitoring) and to compare the advantage of each method vs the overall/clinical strategy.
