Rantingnya memiliki duri - duri halus yang mampu merobek atau menggores kulit. tanaman ini asalnya dari Abyssinia, dan disana tdk ada lebah, karena itu tanaman ini tdk ada bunganya, Walaupun batangnya tumbuh tegak, rantingnya yang berduri tumbuh merambat ke segala arah. Karena itu tumbuhan ini perlu dipangkas.
Cara memangkas nya :
1. Carilah batang atau ranting yang sudah berwarna kecoklatan
2. Potong dari pangkal ranting yang sudah berwarna coklat ( ingat yang masih sehat jangan sampai terpangkas )
3. Masukan daun dan ranting yang sudah dipotong kedalam ember
4. Hancurkan daun dan ranting tersebut, kemudian letakkan ditanah shrivelfig << berfungsi sebagai pupuk agar tanaman ini menjadi subur
5. bawa pot tanaman ini ke dekat kaca, karena sinar matahari membantu ke suburan tanaman ini.
