Objective Several clinical trials have suggested that autophagy inhibition is a promising approach for cancer therapy. However, the implications of autophagy in ameloblastoma (AB) remain undiscovered. This study investigated the dysregulated autophagy and its regulatory mechanisms in AB. Methods The expression and distribution of autophagy-related proteins including B-cell lymphoma-2-interacting protein-1 (Beclin1), microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3) II/I and lysosomal associated membrane protein 2 (LAMP2) were detected in AB and normal oral mucosa (NOM) tissues by immunohistochemistry and western blot analyses. Under transmission electron microscopy, the autophagy of AB was observed. LAMP2 was a potential target mRNA of miR-1-3p. Quantitative Real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis was utilized for examining LAMP2 and miR-1-3p in AB tissues as well as AM-1 cells. The correlation between LAMP2 and miR-1-3p was analyzed in AB. After transfection with miR-1-3p mimic or inhibitor, LAMP2 expression, proliferation, migration, and invasion were separately detected in AM-1 cells. Rescue assays were finally presented. Results Our results showed that Beclin1 was lowly expressed as well as LC3II/I and LAMP2 were highly expressed in AB. Autophagosomes were observed in AB. MiR-1-3p was lowly expressed in AB, which exhibited negative correlations to LAMP2 expression. MiR-1-3p up-regulation significantly lowered LAMP2 expression in AM-1 cells. Furthermore, miR-1-3p overexpression restrained proliferative, migrated, and invasive capacities of AM-1 cells, which were ameliorated by LAMP2 overexpression. Conclusion Our findings demonstrated that miR-1-3p suppressed malignant phenotypes of AB through down-regulating LAMP2-mediated autophagy, which could become an underlying target for AB therapy.COVID-19 pandemic has been a major global issue, its eventual influences on the population welfare, global markets, public security, and everyday activities remain uncertain. Importantly, the influence of COVID-19 among CKD patients without dialysis is still largely unexplored. Thus, we systemically summarized how mental health affects the spreading of COVID-19 to virtually worldwide, covering perspectives from several countries across a wide range of fields and clinical contexts. This review aims to provide the latest details and reveal potential concerns on the public health including psychological well-being of the older patients with CKD.Background A large number of studies have been conducted to determine whether there is an association between preadmission statin use and improvement in outcomes following critical illness, but the conclusions are quite inconsistent. Therefore, this meta-analysis aims to include the present relevant PSM researches to examine the association of preadmission use of statins with the mortality of critically ill patients. Methods The PubMed, Web of Science, Embase electronic databases, and printed resources were searched for English articles published before March 6, 2020 on the association between preadmission statin use and mortality in critically ill patients. The included articles were analyzed in RevMan 5.3. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to conduct quality evaluation, and random/fixed effects modeling was used to calculate the pooled ORs and 95% CIs. We also conducted subgroup analysis by outcome indicators (30-, 90-day, hospital mortality). Results All six PSM observational studies were assessed as having a low risk of bias according to the NOS. For primary outcome-overall mortality, the pooled OR (preadmission statins use vs. no use) across the six included studies was 0.86 (95% CI, 0.76-0.97; P = 0.02). For secondary outcome-use of mechanical ventilation, the pooled OR was 0.94 (95% CI, 0.91-0.97; P = 0.0005). The corresponding pooled ORs were 0.67 (95% CI, 0.43-1.05; P = 0.08), 0.91 (95% CI, 0.83-1.01; P = 0.07), and 0.86 (95% CI, 0.83-0.89; P less then 0.00001) for 30-, 90-day, and hospital mortality, respectively. Conclusions Preadmission statin use is associated with beneficial outcomes in critical ill patients, indicating a lower short-term mortality, less use of mechanical ventilation, and an improvement in hospital survival. Further high-quality original studies or more scientific methods are needed to draw a definitive conclusion.Background Rhabdomyolysis (RM) is a clinical syndrome characterized by breakdown of skeletal muscle fibers and release of their contents into the circulation. Myoglobin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the most severe complications of RM. Based on our previous research, exogenous biological renal support alleviates renal ischemia-reperfusion injury in elderly mice. This study aimed to determine whether exogenous biological renal support promotes renal recovery from RM-induced AKI and to preliminarily explore the mechanisms involved. Methods A parabiosis animal model was established to investigate the effects of exogenous biological renal support on RM-induced AKI. Mice were divided into three groups the control group (in which mice were injected with sterile saline), the RM group (in which mice were injected with 8 mL/kg glycerol), and the parabiosis + RM group (in which recipient mice were injected with glycerol 3 weeks after parabiosis model establishment). Materials and Methods PubMed and Web of Science were searched up to October 28, 2020, for articles reporting the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in men with LUTS. The main outcomes were results from sexual dysfunction assessments. Pooled odds ratio (OR) and weighted mean difference (WMD) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated. The quality assessment of the included studies was performed by using The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) or JBI Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI-MAStARI). PIK-III concentration Results A total of 24 full-manuscript papers met the inclusion criteria. The pooled OR for 21 studies suggested that patients with severer LUTS had a higher risk of sexual dysfunction (OR = 3.31, 95% CI 2.43 to 4.49, p less then 0.001, I 2 = 90%).
