A sandwich-like melamine/phytic acid/silicon nitride hybrid (SW-Si3N4) sheets were prepared by supramolecular wrapping as the hybrid flame retardants for thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The introduction of Si3N4 sheets as a template could not only induce the generation of two-dimensional phytic/melamine (PAMA) capping layers, but also produce the synergistic flame-retardant effect on TPU composites. Cone test showed that heat release rate (HRR), smoke production rate (SPR) and total smoke production (TSP) values of TPU were decreased obviously by adding SW-Si3N4. TG-IR test indicated the dramatic inhibition of aromatic compound, hydrocarbons, CO and HCN release. Besides, the thermal conductivity of composites was obviously improved by adding SW-Si3N4. This work may provide better reference for developing multi-functional TPU composites for diverse application.Photonic crystals film that possesses periodic dielectric structure have shown great prospect in developing environmentally friendly paper alternatives due to the unique properties of dye free and non-photobleaching, but their practical application is limited by the weak interaction between colloidal particles. Although some progress has been obtained, it is still a challenge to develop photonic paper with the desired mechanical and optical properties. see more Herein, multifunctional hard core/soft shell nanoparticles with controlled size are fabricated by semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization method. Compared with convention colloidal particles, these core/shell nanoparticles can facile self-assemble into large-scale dense ordered structure film via dried at room temperature due to the relatively low glass transition temperature (Tg) of the shell layers. The facile fabrication route enables the continuous high-through put production of the photonic papers. The as-formed papers not only possess the capacity to solvent (water/ethanol) rewritable and multicolor painting, but also can rapidly reversible mechanochromic. Moreover, due to the good compatibility of core/shell interface, these photonic films possess excellent mechanical properties, demonstrating that this multifunctional film makes the fabrication of novel robust rewritable papers possible and enables visual monitoring of deformation degree.Herein, N-doped porous carbon nano-polyhedron embedded with Co3O4 (Co3O4-NPCN) was reported for the electro-catalytic oxidation and amperometric detection of l-cysteine. Co3O4-NPCN was synthesized by the two-step redox calcination of zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF). Surface morphology characterization revealed that Co3O4-NPCN displayed a uniform size and rhombic dodecahedral shape. Structure and composition analysis found that Co3O4-NPCN was a N-doped carbon polyhedral matrix with hollow and porous structure, and Co3O4 nano-spheres were evenly distributed into the polyhedral matrix. Due to the hollow and porous structure, N-doped carbon matrix and embedded Co3O4 nano-spheres, Co3O4-NPCN performed a remarkable electro-catalysis towards the oxidation of l-cysteine at a very low potential of 0.10 V. A diffusion-controlled l-cysteine oxidation process was observed at Co3O4-NPCN prepared electrode. Accordingly, amperometric method was established for l-cysteine detection with a very fast current response in 2 s, wide linear range of 0.05 μM- 5.2 mM and low detection limit of 6.9 nM. Besides, notable selectivity, repeatability, reproducibility and long-term stability were also achieved. Moreover, Co3O4-NPCN sensor was successfully applied to the l-cysteine detection in human serum samples indicating the practical application of the as-developed sensor.Membrane-based separation is an appealing solution to mitigate CO2 emission sustainably due to its energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. Attributed to its excellent separation endowed by nanomaterial incorporation, nanocomposite membrane is rigorously developed. This study explored the feasibility of boron nitride (BN) embedment and changes to formation mechanism of ultrathin selective layer of thin film nanocomposite (TFN) are investigated. The effects of amine-functionalization on nanosheet-polymer interaction and CO2 separation performance are also identified. Participation of nanosheets during interfacial polymerization reduced the crosslinking of selective layer, hence, improved TFN permeance while the formation of contorted diffusion paths by the nanosheets favors transport of small gases. Amine-functionalization enhanced the nanosheet-polymer interaction and elevated the membrane affinity towards CO2 which led to enhanced CO2 selectivity. The best TFN prepared in this study exhibited 37% and 20% increment in permeability and selectivity, respectively with respect to neat thin film composite (TFC). It is found that the CO2 separation performance of BN incorporated TFN is on par with many non-porous nanosheet-incorporated TFNs reported in literatures. The transport and barrier effects of BN and functionalized BN are discussed in detail to provide further insights into the development of commercially attractive CO2 selective TFN membranes.Curcumin, isolated from Curcuma longa L., is a fat-soluble natural compound that can be obtained from ginger plant tuber roots, which accumulative evidences have demonstrated that it can resist viral and microbial infection and has anti-tumor, reduction of blood lipid and blood glucose, antioxidant and removal of free radicals, and is active against numerous disorders various chronic diseases including cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and autoimmune diseases. In this article is highlighted the recent evidence of curcuminoids applied in sevral aspects of medical problem particular in COVID-19 pandemics. We have searched several literature databases including MEDLINE (PubMed), EMBASE, the Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and the ClinicalTrials.gov website via using curcumin and medicinal properties as a keyword. All studies published from the time when the database was established to May 2021 was retrieved. This review article summarizes the growing confirmation for the mechanisms related to curcumin's physiological and pharmacological effects with related target proteins interaction via molecular docking.
