Rho inhibitor histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease caused by clonal proliferation of CD1a
CD207
cells. Distinguishing pituitary involvement was essential in stratification and treatment of patients with LCH. The diagnosis of pituitary involvement is mainly dependent on hormone abnormalities in the anterior pituitary and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning in posterior pituitary. Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a serious sequelae and often occurred with pituitary involvement. It is reported that osteopontin (OPN) is highly secreted in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with neurodegenerative diseases in LCH (LCH-ND). However, patients with posterior pituitary involvement account for a larger portion in our hospital. Whether the OPN level could be an auxiliary diagnostic marker for the posterior pituitary involvement or not is still unknown.
In our study, we collected CSF samples of 57 children with LCH. The secreted OPN (sOPN) levels in CSF were measured through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
After the retrospective analysis of 57 patients with LCH, we found that the sOPN levels in CSF of children with posterior pituitary involvement were significantly higher than that of other groups. After the Pearson Chi-Square test, Fisher's exact test and ROC analysis, we found that the sOPN levels were significantly correlated with posterior pituitary involvement. The cut-off value is 214.14ng/mL.
The sOPN levels were elevated in CSF of LCH children with posterior pituitary involvement. #link# Analysis of the sOPN level may provide more accurate auxiliary diagnostic techniques for the clinic.

The nuclear magnetic resonance relaxivity of these products was measured and compared with commercially available low-molecular-weight magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents. Over twice the relaxivity based on Gd(III) concentration, and up to 20-fold increase in relaxivity were observed based on molecular concentration. Relaxivity properties were observed to increase with both increasing molecular weight and number of Gd(III) complexes attached, however a plateau was reached for molecular weight increase. T1 and T2 relaxivity properties were also investigated at two different magnetic fields. Transverse relaxivity is unaffected by magnetic field strength whereas increase in longitudinal relaxivity was not as pronounced at the higher field.
The present study aims to analyze the angiographic anti-restenotic performance of durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents (EES) for the treatment of in-stent restenosis (ISR) in daily practice.
Randomized data is available supporting the use of drug-coated balloons and drug-eluting stents for the treatment of ISR; however, additional real-world data including angiographic follow-up is needed.
Patients who underwent EES-implantation for the treatment of drug-eluting stent ISR and attended for a 6-8 months angiographic surveillance were analyzed. Off-line assessment of the angiograms was conducted at a central quantitative coronary angiographic core laboratory.
A total of 426 patients with ISR were treated with EES and had undergone angiographic follow-up. The mean age was 66.8 ± 9.9 years and 27.5% suffered from diabetes. A total of 459 lesions were treated. The diameter stenosis decreased from 64.3 ± 19.1% (preprocedural) to 12.0 ± 6.4% (postprocedural). At 6-8 months angiographic follow-up, the in-segment diameter stenosis was 38.3 ± 21.7% and the in-stent late luminal loss was 0.54 ± 0.74 mm in the treated area analysis. The rate of recurrent binary restenosis was 25.7%.
In the setting of ISR, the angiographic anti-restenotic efficacy of stenting with EES is comparable to that observed in randomized clinical trials and less favorable than its performance in patients undergoing stenting for de novo disease.

MFB typically presents as a slow-growing, well-circumscribed, solitary mass ranging from 1 to 4 cm in size. It has been reported in adults, and frequently seen in older males and in postmenopausal females. The lesion is composed of stromal cells showing fibroblastic and myofibroblastic differentiation at the morphological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural levels. To date, the literature includes only about 24 MFB cases confirmed via fine-needle aspiration and cytological evaluation. Here, we present a patient with MFB that was diagnosed via conventional smear slides and cell block, in addition to immunohistochemical analysis.Among the available carbon nanomaterials, graphene oxide (GO) has been widely studied because of the possibility of anchoring different chemical species for a large number of applications, including those requiring water-compatible systems. This Review summarizes the state-of-the-art of synthetic routes used to functionalize GO, such as those involving multiple covalent and non-covalent bonds to organic molecules, functionalization with nanoparticles and doping. As a recent development in this field, special focus is given to the formation of nanocomposites comprising GO and porphyrins, and their characterization through spectroscopic techniques (such as UV-Vis, fluorescence, Raman spectroscopy), among others. The potential of such hybrid systems in targeted biological applications is also discussed, namely for cancer therapies relying on photodynamic and photothermal therapies and for the inhibition of telomerase enzyme. Lastly, some promising alternative materials to GO are presented to overcome current challenges of GO-based research and to inspire future research directions in this field.
