How I think about Ranpo and his romantic interest.

Ranpo hates and doesn't believe adult except Fukuzawa (Bungou Stray Dogs novel vol. 3), so he never bother to reach the adulthood; and the main topic is here: how Ranpo get his partner?

This is purely a headcanon but based by canon informations.

Ranpo doesn't like to talk about heavy topic that doesn't have any relations with cases, mysteries and puzzles. He just want to enjoy his life by doing any activity that he likes. Look at his acts and how he spends his days, nothing hard than playing and talking with other members of Armed Detective Agency. Is he even give a thought about romantic problem? My answer is: he do, but never bring it out, sharing with other people. He just think, it's no need to rush about it. The time will come and he will accept it.

What is his type? How he notices her(I am using this pronoun because Ranpo is straight)? Let take a look into the canon informations. There's a Q&A by Mr. June Bride at a magazine; Ranpo, along with Atsushi, Dazai and Akutagawa had answered a few questions. I'll only write about Ranpo. There's a direct one, 'who is your ideal marriage partner?' Ranpo being Ranpo and answered: 'There's two kinds; first, a person who would /spoil/ me, and the other one is a person who spoil me /willingly/'. It's pretty clear, right? He accept a person whom love him and she will have a permit to pamper him, allowed to give him such an action that he doesn't allows everyone to. Had you ever seen Ranpo acted spoiled by a certain person? No. Not even Fukuzawa. What he allowed was a praise about his Super Deduction ability, no more.

Ranpo also hopeless and he is romantic despite his behavior at the office. There's another questions at the same magazine; 'If your partner betrays you, what will you do?' His answers is simple: 'Cry'. What can I get from this little confession? He is a very touchy person. He said he didn't care with other's sympathetic story, but actually he do care about his own and I can imagine, how hard he tries to put those feeling aside when he out for mission and his partner is waiting for him at their home. He love his partner so much and treasure her. He cannot bear the loneliness and heartbreaking betrayal from his dearest person. Yet, he can't do anything except crying. Ranpo can cry. He did it once; twelve years ago in front of Fukuzawa after the leader hit Ranpo's face and told him to cutoff his childish act (Bungou Stray Dogs novel vol.3).

In the chapter 32, we can see how Ranpo acts towards Yosano; she is a very close friend to him (my theory). Look on how selfish Ranpo as he doesn't care about his surrounding and ignoring everything that contradict his ideal. But, when Yosano become the victim, he changes his attitude, trying to find the culprit to make them pass the story, getting out from those world and save Yosano. What will he do if his partner get into Yosano's shoes? More, more cruel and emotional than this (although he will try to hide this in front of people, because hey! Ranpo doesn't like to looks pathetic and hate if people pitying him -Bungou Stray Dogs novel vol.3-) and I'm sure he cannot forgive Poe even though its only a world from novel and actually both of them are save.

Still on the chapter 32, Ranpo can be humble and shy when Yosano; as his close friend (again, this is my theory) said such a word to him. She is praising his ability. What happen if Ranpo's partner is the one whom give her praise to him? It will be so cute and I can't help but smirking like a crazy, trying to imagine it, right now.

Well, my theory is he need a partner whom always support him, give her best to him and stay by his side. She must know every-little-thing Ranpo does, how he act and think. Allow him to speak up his idea and answer anything he ask. Ranpo like to state his opinion and fact but there's no one whom able to throw his words back. He needs a clever partner whom willingly have a debate contest with him with no hard feeling. Spends time by talking with each other about everything, especially about puzzles and mysteries. She also must know the true meaning behind his twisted words and happily make a contradiction about it.

TLDR; Ranpo is able to love someone and this person must spoil him. Actually, he is a touchy person, allows his feeling and thoughts to get into his head when involves with the one he love. He need a partner to spends their time debating about literary everything.
