The Internet of things (IoT) will accommodate several billions of devices to the Internet to enhance human society as well as to improve the quality of living. A huge number of sensors, actuators, gateways, servers, and related end-user applications will be connected to the Internet. All these entities require identities to communicate with each other. The communicating devices may have mobility and currently, the only main identity solution is IP based identity management which is not suitable for the authentication and authorization of the heterogeneous IoT devices. Sometimes devices and applications need to communicate in real-time to make decisions within very short times. Most of the recently proposed solutions for identity management are cloud-based. Those cloud-based identity management solutions are not feasible for heterogeneous IoT devices. In this paper, we have proposed an edge-fog based decentralized identity management and authentication solution for IoT devices (IoTD) and edge IoT gateways (EIoTG). We have also presented a secure communication protocol for communication between edge IoT devices and edge IoT gateways. The proposed security protocols are verified using Scyther formal verification tool, which is a popular tool for automated verification of security protocols. The proposed model is specified using the PROMELA language. SPIN model checker is used to confirm the specification of the proposed model. The results show different message flows without any error.Giant cell tumors of bone (GCT) are benign tumors that show a locally aggressive nature and affect bones' architecture. Recently, cryoablation and irradiation treatments have shown promising results in GCT patients with faster recovery and less recurrence and metastasis. Therefore, it became a gold standard surgical treatment for patients. Hence, we have compared GCT-untreated, cryoablation, and irradiation-treated samples to identify protein alterations using high-frequency liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS). Our label-free quantification analysis revealed a total of 107 proteins (p 0.1 to 0.5 folds) proteins were identified from GCT-untreated and treated groups. Based on pathway analysis, most of the identified up-regulated proteins involved in critical metabolic functions associated with tumor proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis. On the other hand, the down-regulated proteins involved in glycolysis, tumor microenvironment, and apoptosis. The observed higher expressions of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) and TGF-beta in the GCT-untreated group associated with bones' osteolytic process. Interestingly, both the proteins showed reduced expressions after cryoablation treatment, and contrast expressions identified in the irradiation treated group. Therefore, these expressions were confirmed by immunoblot analysis. In addition to these, several glycolytic enzymes, immune markers, extracellular matrix (ECM), and heat shock proteins showed adverse expressions in the GCT-untreated group were identified with favorable regulations after treatment. Therefore, the identified expression profiles will provide a better picture of treatment efficacy and effect on the molecular environment of GCT.
Animal-assisted interventions, in concrete dog-assisted intervention, have been introduced in prisons to reduce recidivism as well as to improve the well-being of prisoners. Therefore, the aim of the present systematic review is to provide an up-to-date analysis of the research on the effects of dog-based animal-assisted therapy in prison population.
An electronic search of the literature was performed, and 20 articles were included. The PRISMA guideline methodology was employed.
Included studies involved a total of 1577 participants. The vast majority of protocols included activities related with dog training, dog caring, or activities, which included vocational or educational components. Duration of dog-based therapies ranged between 60 and 120 min, with the frequency being between 1 and 3 days/week. Statistically significant improvements in prisoners were observed in 13 studies.
Dog-based animal-assisted therapy may improve anxiety, stress, recidivism, and other social variables in male or female inmates.

Due to its role in metabolism, EcPDH E1 was previously characterised with respect to its biochemical properties, but it was never applied for synthetic purposes. Here, we show that EcPDH E1 is a promising biocatalyst for the production of chiral α-hydroxyketones. WT EcPDH E1 shows a 180-250-fold higher catalytic efficiency towards 2-oxobutyrate or pyruvate, respectively, in comparison to engineered transketolase variants from Geobacillus stearothermophilus (TKGST). Its broad active site cleft allows for the efficient conversion of both (R)- and (S)-configured α-hydroxyaldehydes, next to linear and branched aliphatic aldehydes as acceptor substrates under kinetically controlled conditions. selleck The alternate, thermodynamically controlled self-reaction of aliphatic aldehydes was shown to be limited to low levels of conversion, which we propose to be due to their large hydration constants. Additionally, the thermodynamically controlled approach was demonstrated to suffer from a loss of stereoselectivity, which makes it unfeasible for aliphatic substrates. In this study, a cellulose acetate (CA) membrane with pores generated by a water pressure treatment was investigated for its ability to serve as a pretreatment filter device for the detection of 2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (OIT). Pores were generated by applying a water pressure of 8 bar to a membrane manufactured using a CA-based polymer solution. The CA used for the manufacturing was an environment-friendly, low-cost and highly energy-efficient material. Furthermore, since the fabricated porous CA polymeric film possessed many hydrophilic functional groups, it could strongly bind hydrophilic substances while avoiding interaction with hydrophobic substances. OIT, which comprises a hydrophobic bond that forms weak bonds over time, can break down more easily than hydrophilic impurities. The different extents of interaction occurring between either the toxic fungicide OIT or the hydrophilic impurities and the CA film were determined by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The physicochemical changes in the resulting membrane, which occurred when the pores were generated, were investigated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
