Choosing Ceremony adalah upacara pemilihan faksi yang dilakukan setiap tahunnya di The Hub yang hanya diikuti oleh anggota faksi yang telah berusia 16 tahun. Pemilihan faksi dipengaruhi oleh 2 hal, yaitu hasil tes uji aptitude dan lahir-faksi. Prosesnya adalah dengan menggoreskan sebilah pisau ditangan, kemudian meneteskan sedikit darah pada salah satu mangkuk dari kelima faksi yang akan/mau dipilih.
B. Abnegation Manifesto
Manifesto adalah pernyataan sikap sebuah kelompok yang diumumkan kepada publik. Abnegation Manifesto sendiri berbunyi :
"I will be my undoing If I become my obsession.
I will forget the ones I love If I do not serve them.
I will war with others If I refuse to see them.
Therefore I choose to turn away from my reflection,
To rely not on myself But on my brothers and sisters,
To project always outward
Until I disappear."
Remaja Abnegation menghabiskan 30 hari untuk melakukan pelayanan masyarakat agar resmi menjadi warga Abnegation. Setelah 30 hari, mereka duduk dibangku dan salah satu anggota yang lebih tua membacakan Abnegation Manifesto. Lalu semua anggota Abnegation yang lebih tua mencuci kaki para anggota Abnegation yang baru. Dan kegiatan terakhirnya adalah semua warga Abnegation berbagi makanan dengan aturan bahwa setiap orang akan melayani orang di sebelah kirinya.
