Sustainable agriculture requires the recruitment of bacterial agents to control diverse plant diseases such as bacterial endophytes. selleck compound Bacterial endophytes colonize and inhabit internal plant tissues without causing any apparent damage. Within the plant, these bacteria exert multiple beneficiary effects, including direct stimulation of plant growth by the action of phytohormones or the production of metabolites. However, bacterial endophytes also protect their plant host through biocontrol pathogens or by inducing plant innate immune system. The present work makes a systematic and in-depth review on the current state of endophytic bacterial diversity, their plant colonization strategies, and their potential roles as protective agents against plant diseases during pre- and post-harvest stages of crop productivity. In addition, an exploration of their beneficial effects on sustainable agriculture by reducing/eliminating the use of toxic agrochemicals was conducted. Finally, we propose diverse effective strategies for the application of endophytic bacteria as biological agents during both pre- and post-harvest stages, with the aim of protecting crop plants and their agricultural products.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the morphology of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) articular eminence and disc and the relationship between morphology and inclination in patients with disc displacement.
TMJ magnetic resonance images (MRI) of 30 patients with disc displacement with reduction (DDWR) on one side and disc displacement without reduction (DDWOR) on the other side were analyzed. Articular eminence morphology was subdivided as box, sigmoid, flattened and deformed. Articular disc configuration was characterized as biconcave, biplanar, biconvex, hemiconvex and folded. The articular eminence inclination was measured as the angle between the Frankfurt plane and a line drawn from the glenoid fossa roof to the lowest point of the articular eminence.
Regarding articular eminence shape, in both DDWR and DDWOR groups, the most frequent articular eminence shape was flattened shape. Regarding to the disc morphology, biplanar shape was the most frequently observed in both DDWR side and DDWOR side. The mean articular eminence inclination was 32.62 and 33.85 in the DDWR and DDWOR side, respectively.
Disc and articular eminence morphology was found to have no relationship with TMJ internal derangement except the relationship between flattened type and internal derangement. The articular eminence inclination have no influence on disc reduction.

Bacterial resistance is a problem during the process of healing of infected wounds. As a therapy, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has broad-spectral antibacterial activity and non-selective action, which makes it possible to deal with antibiotic resistance.. Methylene blue is a commonly used medicine, but it is rarely used in clinical practice as a photosensitizer. The effect of methylene blue photodynamic therapy (MB-PDT) on infected wounds remains unclear. Our study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of MB-PDT on infected wounds.
In this study, 5 patients with infected wounds were included, all of them were treated with MB-PDT by using the red LED which irradiated the wounds directly (635 nm, 120 J/cm2, 100 mW/cm2). The frequency and course of treatment were determined by the severity of the wound.
After an average of 4 PDT session, infected wounds of all the patients healed.. The treatment also showed an excellent cosmetic effect. According to the follow-up periods of patients ranged from 3 to 12 months, there were no recurrences and side effects.
MB-PDT has a great healing effect on infected wounds, and it is a safe, cheap and active clinical therapy.

Complex 1 was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Complex 3 presented excellent photodynamic anticancer effect in light (>400 nm) showing IC50 values of 7.5 and 4.3 μM against HepG2, SKOV3 and HeLa, respectively, along with the 12.4, 7.9 and 4.7-fold lower toxicity in the dark. Confocal fluorescence images show that the complex primarily targeted mitochondrial localization. These results suggest that the complex 3 was a valuable agent with higher efficacy for chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy, which can achieve real-time image guidance in cancer therapy for the fluorescence of the complex as imaging signals. This investigation provides a valuable route to design novel half-sandwich Cp*-Rh complexes with higher efficacy for photodynamic anticancer chemotherapy.
Employing violet LED on tooth bleaching is a recent but promising technique. This study aimed to assess the bleaching effectiveness of violet light-emitting diodes (LEDs) associated or not with bleaching gels containing hydrogen peroxide (HP) or carbamide peroxide (CP).
seventy bovine incisors were randomly assigned into 7 groups (n = 10) according to the technique and whitening product used. Group C Artificial saliva (placebo); Group HP L- three sessions of HP at 35 % without light activation; Group CP L- three weeks of CP at 16 % for 4 h/day; Group HP CP L- three sessions of HP at 35 % without light activation + 2 weeks of CP at 16 %, for 4 h/day; Group LED four sessions with violet LED; Group HP L+ three sessions with HP at 35 % + violet LED; Group CP L+ three weeks with CP at 16 % for 4 h/day + violet LED. Color changes (ΔE and ΔL) were measured with a portable digital spectrophotometer.
The results were similar between the groups of bleaching protocols, demonstrating that the use of the violet LED did not influence bleaching effectiveness when using HP 35 % or CP 16 % after 3 sessions. In addition, the use of the violet LED alone obtained ΔE values similar to the protocols with the use of peroxides, however less variation of ΔL was observed for this group.
The use of violet LEDs associated or not with bleaching gels was effective for tooth whitening. In addition, it was also concluded that the physical lightening technique with violet LED used alone produced less variation in dental brightness.
