Mahluk ini amat pemalu dan tidak terlalu percaya manusia. Mahluk ini hidup untuk melindungi kuda-kuda. Ciri-cirinya, ditutupi bulu-bulu kusut, makhluk ini memiliki rambut kasar yang amat tebal di kepalanya dan hidung yang luar biasa besar. Porlock berjalan dengan dua kaki dan memiliki kuku dua. Lengannya kecil dan masing-masing memiliki empat jari-jari gemuk. Kakinya mirip dengan kuda. Jika sudah dewasa tinggi mereka mencapai 60cm dan mereka memakan rumput. Porlock tidur di antara tumpukan jerami, terkadang di istal kuda juga.
