Strategy to Barrett's oesophagus.
In this paper a study on the process of densification of oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) is presented. An empirical-statistical model that allows the evaluation of densification process is obtained through an experimental factorial design. The main purpose of the experimental arrangement is to find the appropriate reference values for the experimental factors - moisture content, fiber length and compaction time-with which optimal performance responses of briquettes are achieved. Statistical models are obtained that explain in an acceptable way the influence of independent experimental factors on the mechanical properties of briquettes, such as briquettes density, durability index and compressive strength. It is possible to conclude that briquettes manufactured with the appropriate reference values, moisture content of 8% w.b., fiber length of 73.6 mm and a compaction time of 26.6 s respectively, meet mechanical and thermal requirements that are required in the most representative standards for biomass briquettes for energy purposes. Results obtained in the current investigation can be used as reference for the design of an industrial pilot plant destined to the densification of EFB of African oil palm. The development of microwave absorbing materials based on recycled hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles and polycaprolactone (PCL) was the main focus of this study. α-Fe2O3 was recycled from mill scale and reduced to nanoparticles through high energy ball milling in order to improve its complex permittivity properties. Different compositions (5% wt., 10% wt., 15% wt. and 20% wt.) of the recycled α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were melt-blended with PCL using a twin screw extruder to fabricate recycled α-Fe2O3/PCL nanocomposites. The samples were characterized for their microstructural properties through X - ray diffraction (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The complex permittivity and microwave absorption properties were respectively measured using the open ended coaxial (OEC) probe and a microstrip in connection with a vector network analyzer in the 1-4 GHz frequency range. An average α-Fe2O3 nanoparticle size of 16.2 nm was obtained with a maximum imaginary (ε") part of permittivity value of 0.54 at 4 GHz. The complex permittivity and power loss values of the nanocomposites increased with recycled α-Fe2O3 nanofiller content. At 2.4 GHz, the power loss (dB) values obtained for all the nanocomposites were between 13.3 dB and 14.4 dB and at 3.4 GHz, a maximum value of 16.37 dB was achieved for the 20 % wt. nanocomposite. The recycled α-Fe2O3/PCL nanocomposites have the potential for use in noise reduction applications in the 1-4 GHz range. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was established in 2000 as a means of controlling the flow of conflict diamonds, mostly, from the African continent. In 2013, the KPCS imposed an embargo on diamonds from the Central African Republic (CAR). Since then the embargo has been lifted in certain prefectures of the country, however, smuggling is suspected from non-compliant areas. Three parcels of diamonds suspected to have mining origins in the CAR, were analysed. These diamonds were investigated for their morphological and chemical characteristics, to establish a diamond fingerprint and to determine if these diamonds had the same fingerprint as previously analysed diamonds from CAR or the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The analyses of these diamonds were included in the already established diamond database of rough diamonds from the African continent. The morphological characteristics identified included the mass (ct), colour, surface coatings, dominant, secondary and tertiary form, shape, ermining the trace element concentrations of 69Ga, 88Sr, 89Y, 90Zr, 93Nb, 133Cs, 137Ba, 139La, 140Ce, 141Pr, 146Nd, 147Sm, 153Eu, 157Gd, 159Tb, 163Dy, 165Ho, 166Er, 169Tm, 172Yb, 175Lu, 178Hf, 181Ta, 232Th and 238U. Laser ablation ICP-MS determined that not all elements produce statistically viable data, however, the data could still be used to discern trace element differences and trends among the parcels. In the current set of diamonds, laser ablation ICP-MS data for parcels A and B showed an excellent agreement with each other as well as those from diamonds previously analysed from CAR. None of the three parcels showed any similarity to data from Bria River or the DRC. It is concluded that the diamonds from parcels A and B are very likely to have mining origins in the same area in the CAR, whereas parcel C is distinct and of possible mixed origin. The effects of traffic congestion are adverse, primarily including air pollution, commuter stress, an increase in vehicle operating costs, and accidents on road. In efforts to alleviate these problems in metropolitan cities, logistics companies plan to introduce a new Urban Air Mobility (UAM) service called air taxis. These are electric-powered vehicles that would be tested and operated in the forthcoming years by international transportation companies like Airbus, Uber, and Kitty Hawk. Since these flying taxis are an emerging mode of transportation, it is necessary to provide recommendations for initial design, implementation, and operation. This study proposes managerial insights for these upcoming UAM services by analyzing online customer reviews and conducting an internal assessment of helicopter operations. Helicopters are similar to air taxis in regards to their vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) operations, and therefore, customer reviews pertaining to the former can enable us to obtain insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the short-distance aviation service, in general. learn more A four-stage sequential approach is used in this research, wherein online reviews are mined in Stage 1, analyzed using bigram and trigram models in Stage 2, 7S internal assessment is conducted for helicopter services in Stage 3, and managerial recommendations for air taxis are proposed in Stage 4. The insights obtained in this paper could assist any air taxi company in providing better customer service when they venture into the market.
