CT Angiography or Cardiac MRI with regard to Diagnosis regarding Heart Aneurysms inside Kawasaki Ailment.
Objective To identify the factors of postpartum depression among teen mothers.Method A convenient sample of 120 teen mothers who were aged 15 to 19 years (M = 18.02, SD = 1.16) were recruited. Depression and its related factors were assessed with Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Eating Disorder Inventory (Body Dissatisfaction and Drive for Thinness subscales), Parental stress index (Parental distress and Parental-child dysfunctional interaction subscales), Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (parental criticism of parenting subscale) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Both descriptive and analytical analyses were performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS version 22).Results Results showed that 48% of sample had clinically high levels of depressive symptoms. Its associated factors were parental distress (β = .297, t = 3.378, p = .001), weight/shape disturbances (β = .217, t = 2.42, p = .017), economic income (β = -.210, t = -2.32, p = .022) and parental-child dysfunctional interaction (β = .20, t = 2.08, p = .03) among seven factors considered. Conclusion Regression analyses showed that parental distress, weight/shape disturbances, economic income and parental-child dysfunctional interaction predicted unique variance associated with depression level. These findings are discussed in light of future work and the persistent need to inform prevention and treatment programs for teen mothers. The elemental halogens include chlorine, bromine, and phosgene. Halogen gas can be directly weaponized and employed in warfare or terrorism. Industrial stockpiles or halogen transport can provide targets for terrorist attack as well as an origin for accidental release creating a risk for potential mass-casualty incidents. Pregnant and post-partum women represent a substantial and vulnerable subset of the population who may be at particular risk during an attack or accidental exposure. We review the effects of halogen exposure on the parturient with a focus on bromine toxicity. Bromine is the most extensively studied agent in the context of pregnancy and to-date murine models form the basis for the majority of current knowledge. Pregnancy potentiates the acute lung injury after halogen exposure. In addition, halogen exposure precipitates a preeclamptic-like syndrome in mice. This phenotype is characterized by systemic and pulmonary hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, decreased cardiac output, placental injury and fetal growth restriction. This constellation contributes to increased maternal and fetal mortality observed after bromine exposure. Angiogenic imbalance is noted with overexpression of the soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) form of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 reminiscent of human preeclampsia. Additional research is needed to further explore the effect of halogen gas exposure in pregnancy and to develop therapeutic interventions to mitigate risk to this unique population. Objective Peer social functioning difficulties characteristic of ADHD persist into adolescence, but the efficacy of interventions for this age group remains unclear. Method A systematic search of nonpharmacological interventions for adolescents with ADHD (10-18 years) identified 11 trials addressing social functioning, of which eight were included in meta-analyses. Results Random effects meta-analyses of four randomized trials found no differences in social functioning between treatment and control groups by parent- (g = -0.08 [-0.34, 0.19], k = 4, N = 354) or teacher-report (g = 0.17 [-0.06, 0.40], k = 3, N = 301). Meta-analyses of nonrandomized studies indicated participants' social functioning improved from baseline to postintervention by parent-report, but not teacher- or self-report. All trials had a high risk of bias. Conclusion These results highlight the paucity of research in this age group. There is little evidence that current interventions improve peer social functioning. Clearer conceptualizations of developmentally relevant targets for remediation may yield more efficacious social interventions.Purpose To evaluate factors associated with mental health quality of life (QOL), such as depressed mood, anxiety, poor memory and sleep, among midlife women according to the menopausal status.Material and methods Participants were 500 women aged 40-65 years. Data were collected using socio-demographic questionnaire, Women's Health Questionnaire (domains of depressed mood-DEP, anxiety-ANX, memory-MEM and sleep-SLE) and Short Form-36 (Mental Composite Score) for assessment of health-related QOL. Factors associated with poorer DEP, ANX, MEM and SLE were examined using adjusted linear regression models. Results In premenopausal women, lower household monthly income (p = .046) was associated with higher level of DEP; higher body mass index (p = .045) was associated with higher ANX; having gynecological illnesses (p = .017) and menopause-related symptoms (p = .039) were associated with poorer MEM; being married (p = .036), drinking alcohol (p = .036) and having more physical activity (p = .041) was associated with better SLE. In postmenopausal women, worse DEP was more likely among women residing in city outskirts (p = .009), who are not married (p = .038) and with sedentary occupations (p = .049); lower education level (p = .030) was associated with more ANX; lower education level (p = .045) and having menopause-related symptoms (p = .044) were associated with poorer MEM; not engaging in regular recreation (p = .031) was associated with better SLE.Conclusions To improve QOL, pre- and postmenopausal women should not only be supported in the management of menopause-specific symptoms. Women should also receive recommendations as to the behavioral and personal changes when approaching the midlife period. The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) has recently announced new diagnostic criteria for pediatric hepatic veno-occlusive disease (HVOD) after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We retrospectively inspected 97 ultrasound exams of 60 pediatric HSCT patients, and compared its diagnostic value using the Baltimore, Seattle and pediatric EBMT criteria. Nine of the ten patients who were diagnosed as HVOD only in the EBMT criteria had severe or very severe HVOD. In the Seattle and EBMT criteria, portal vein velocity, peak systolic velocity and resistance index of hepatic artery, gallbladder wall thickening and ascites were statistically significant. No ultrasound variable showed significant association in the Baltimore criteria. learn more All patients with portal vein velocity below 10 cm/s were in higher EBMT grade. A scoring system was developed, to evaluate the overall relationship of the ultrasound findings with the diagnosis of HVOD, showing fair (0.768 and 0.733) AUC in the ROC curve of EBMT and Seattle criteria.
