60 to 0.96 in UC and from 0.64 to 0.93 in CD. Fecal calprotectin is an accurate MH marker in IBD in adults; however, it cannot replace endoscopy and the application of calprotectin is hampered by the lack of standardization concerning the cut-off value. Other markers are either not sufficiently accurate or have not been studied extensively enough.Sarcopenia has been defined as a progressive decline of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and functions in elderly people. It is accompanied by physical frailty, functional disability, falls, hospitalization, and mortality, and is becoming a major geriatric disorder owing to the increasing life expectancy and growing older population worldwide. Experimental models are critical to understand the pathophysiology of sarcopenia and develop therapeutic strategies. Although its etiologies remain to be further elucidated, several mechanisms of sarcopenia have been identified, including cellular senescence, proteostasis imbalance, oxidative stress, and "inflammaging." In this article, we address three main aspects. First, we describe the fundamental aging mechanisms. Next, we discuss both in vitro and in vivo experimental models based on molecular mechanisms that have the potential to elucidate the biochemical processes integral to sarcopenia. The use of appropriate models to reflect sarcopenia and/or its underlying pathways will enable researchers to understand sarcopenia and develop novel therapeutic strategies for sarcopenia. Lastly, we discuss the possible molecular targets and the current status of drug candidates for sarcopenia treatment. In conclusion, the development of experimental models for sarcopenia is essential to discover molecular targets that are valuable as biochemical biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets for sarcopenia.Pre-stressed bolted joints are widely used in civil structures and industries. The tightening force of a bolt is crucial to the reliability of the joint connection. Loosening or over-tightening of a bolt may lead to connectors slipping or bolt strength failure, which are both harmful to the main structure. In most practical cases it is extremely difficult, even impossible, to install the bolts to ensure there is a precise tension force during the construction phase. Furthermore, it is inevitable that the bolts will loosen due to long-term usage under high stress. The identification of bolt tension is therefore of great significance for monitoring the health of existing structures. This paper reviews state-of-the-art research on bolt tightening force measurement and loosening detection, including fundamental theories, algorithms, experimental set-ups, and practical applications. CAL-101 order In general, methods based on the acoustoelastic principle are capable of calculating the value of bolt axial stress if both the time of incident wave and reflected wave can be clearly recognized. The relevant commercial instrument has been developed and its algorithm will be briefly introduced. Methods based on contact dynamic phenomena such as wave energy attenuation, high-order harmonics, sidebands, and impedance, are able to correlate interface stiffness and the clamping force of bolted joints with respective dynamic indicators. Therefore, they are able to detect or quantify bolt tightness. The related technologies will be reviewed in detail. Potential challenges and research trends will also be discussed.Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) is the causative agent of the bacterial canker of kiwifruit (Actinidia spp.). Phage therapy has been suggested as a viable alternative approach to controlling this disease, but its efficacy is limited by the emergence of phage-resistant mutants. Carvacrol is an essential oil that may be useful for the control of Psa. Combination therapies can be used to overcome resistance development. Here, the combination of phages (single phage suspensions of phages PN05 and PN09, and a cocktail of both phages) and carvacrol was investigated in controlling Psa planktonic and biofilm forms in vitro. The phage therapy alone (with phages PN05 and PN09), and the carvacrol alone (minimum inhibitory concentration 2.0 mg/mL), inhibited Psa growth, but the combined effect of both therapies was more effective. The phages alone effectively inhibited Psa growth for 24 h, but Psa regrowth was observed after this time. The carvacrol (2.0 mg/mL) alone prevented the biofilm formation for 48 h, but did not destroy the pre-formed biofilms. The combined treatment, phages and carvacrol (2.0 mg/mL), showed a higher efficacy, preventing Psa regrowth for more than 40 h. In conclusion, the combined treatment with phages and carvacrol may be a promising, environment-friendly and cost-effective approach to controlling Psa in the kiwifruit industry. Background Mycetoma and chromoblastomycosis are both chronic subcutaneous infectious diseases that pose an obstacle to socioeconomic development. Besides the therapeutic issue, the diagnosis of most neglected tropical diseases (NTD) is challenging. Confirmation using direct microscopy and culture, recognized as WHO essential diagnostic tests, are limited to specialized facilities. In this context, there is a need for simple user-friendly diagnostic tests to be used in endemic villages. Methods This review discuss the available biomarkers that could help to improve the diagnostic capacity for mycetoma and chromoblastomycosis in a theoretical and practical perspective. Results A lack of research in this area has to be deplored, mainly for mycetoma. Biomarkers based on the immune response (pattern of leucocytes, antibody detection), the dermal involvement (extracellular matrix monitoring, protein expression), and the presence of the infectious agent (protein detection) are potential candidates for the detection or follow-up of infection. Conclusion Confirmatory diagnosis based on specific diagnostic biomarkers will be the basis for the optimal treatment of mycetoma and chromoblastomycosis. It will be part of the global management of NTDs under the umbrella of stewardship activities.Currently, thermal investigation in hybrid colloidal liquids is noteworthy. It has applications in medical sciences, drug delivery, computer chips, electronics, the paint industry, mechanical engineering and to perceive the cancer cell in human body and many more. Therefore, the study is carried out for 3D magnetized hybrid nanofluid by plugging the novel Cattaneo-Christov model and thermal radiations. The dimensionless version of the model is successfully handled via an analytical technique. From the reported analysis, it is examined that Graphene Oxide-molybdenum disulfide/C2H6O2-H2O has better heat transport characteristics and is therefore reliable for industrial and technological purposes. The temperature of Graphene Oxide GO-molybdenum disulfide/C2H6O2-H2O enhances in the presence of thermal relaxation parameter and radiative effects. Also, it is noted that rotational velocity of the hybrid nanofluid rises for stronger magnetic parameter effects. Moreover, prevailed behavior of thermal conductivity of GO-molybdenum disulfide/C2H6O2-H2O is detected which shows that hybrid nanofluids are a better conductor as compared to that of a regular nanofluid.
