The thraustochytrid are marine heterotrophic protists that are widely distributed in the marine world. They are characterized by producing and accumulating great amount of lipids in their cells, especially long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA), highlighting the docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 226, n-3), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 205, n-3) and arachidonic acid (ARA, 204, n-6), as well as pigments of interest for human health and animal nutrition, such as carotenoids. Therefore, the objective of this study was to isolate and characterize three natives isolated of thraustochytrids and assess the potential of the by-products of the manufacture of beer (RB) and protein extraction of Lupine flour (RL) as complex carbon sources to produce biomass, lipid and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Three native strains of thraustochytrid (AS5-B2, IQ81 y VAL-B1), isolated from Chilean coastal waters were morphologically and genetically identified as thraustochytrid. For the determination of biomass production cultures were quantified by gravimetry and the fatty acids quantification and identification were carried out by gas chromatography (GC-FID). Our results show that the culture with any sources of complex carbon used, increased significantly the production of both biomass and total lipids in the strains IQ81 and VAL-B1, compared to glucose as pure carbon source. On the other hand, strain AS5-B2 showed a decrease in the total production of lipids in RB compared to the pure carbon source. For the production of fatty acids, the strains IQ81 and VAL-B1 showed a significant increase in DHA when growing in RB. In conclusion strains IQ81 and VAL-B1 can be used to biotransform industrial waste, such as RB and RL, into a more valuable product such as DHA, EPA, ARA and lipids.Expansive soils exhibit swell-shrink behaviour in wet-dry periods resulting in distresses on light-weight structures founded on/in them. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the climate-ground interaction when designing structures on expansive soils. Laboratory-based models are preferred to investigate the climatic-ground interaction of expansive soils due to the uncontrollability of the boundary conditions and expenses associated with field monitoring. More flexibility in analysing the climatic-induced hydraulic responses in expansive soils can be achieved by finite element modelling of data from physical model tests. However, these laboratory-based models regularly encounter the effects of boundary flaw, preferential flow paths and entrapped air that needs to be accounted for when numerically simulated. Poly-D-lysine manufacturer In this study, the authors aim to numerically model the hydraulic responses in an instrumented Vertosol soil column (ISC) under controlled laboratory conditions. The effects of the preferential flow paths and boundary flaws were incorporated into a modified hydraulic conductivity as a practical approach to model the hydraulic responses in ISC. Influence of the entrapped air was rectified by a suitable correction factor. These findings present a practical method for geotechnical practitioners to accurately estimate the suction and volumetric water content profiles in laboratory-based expansive soil model tests. An organization acquires legitimacy when it operates in an appropriate and desirable manner, satisfying the stakeholders' needs and expectations. Stakeholders claim to business schools sustainable and responsible management, knowledge transfer and research. In the last years, business schools adopted Corporate Social Responsibility as guideline of an integrated and holistic approach for their legitimation process. The aim of this research is to understand how business schools are reacting to the criticism that affects them and how they are reshaping their strategies in order to fulfill stakeholders' expectations, and to confirm which UN Sustainable Development Goals are the most cited in the sustainability reports of the best business schools in the world. We perform a content analysis of the latest sustainability reports published by the top 50 business schools, analyzing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. We highlight that business schools focus social responsibility strategies mainly to define the professional standards to train future leaders qualified to manage organizations with a social, economic and environmental positive impact for all the stakeholders and capable to shape a better world.Magnesium is essential in plants where it is associated with chlorophyll pigments and serves as a cofactor of enzymes implicated in photosynthesis and metabolism. It is an essential nutrient for animals, involved in hundreds metabolic reaction and crucial for the biological activity of ATP. Not surprisingly, magnesium deficiency is detrimental for the health of plants and animals. In humans, subclinical magnesium deficiency is common and generates chronic inflammation, which is the common denominator of a wide range of mental and physical health problems from metabolic diseases to cognitive impairment, from osteopenia and sarcopenia to depression. It is ascertained that magnesium content in fruits and vegetables dropped in the last fifty years, and about 80% of this metal is lost during food processing. As a consequence, a large percentage of people all over the world does not meet the minimum daily magnesium requirement. In this scoping review, we summarize how agronomic and environmental factors, including global warming, affect magnesium content and availability in the soil and, consequently, in the food chain, with the aim of attracting the interest of botanists, agronomists, animal and human nutritionists and physicians to work on a strategy that grants adequate magnesium intake for everybody.Uterine cancer is the most and second most common gynecological malignancy in developed and developing countries, respectively. The majority of endometrial cancers are diagnosed early due to the presence of abnormal uterine bleeding. The existing literature however contains only little data regarding the prevalence of such symptoms compared to patients with no or benign pathology. Therefore, a systematic review was conducted in order to determine the significance of various clinical signs and symptoms predicting uterine cancer. Embase, Web of Science and Medline databases were searched from inception until 18 June 2019. Studies eligible for selection inclusion assessed the diagnostic accuracy of clinical signs and symptoms in pre- and postmenopausal women aged 18-99 years old with uterine malignancy. Case reports, case series and studies of which full text was not available, were excluded. The risk of bias was assessed using the QUADAS-2 tool by two independent reviewers. Results were visualized by forest plots using RevMan(5.
