Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is considered to be a rare progressive disease resulting from restricted flow through the pulmonary arterial circulation resulting ultimately in right-sided heart failure. Most patients withPAH suffer from sleep disorders, reduced aerobic fitness, and mortality risk despite optimized medical treatment. This study investigated the effect of 12weeks of aerobic training on sleep quality, sleep efficiency, right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP), and aerobic fitness in patients with PAH.

Thirty patientswith PAH were randomized to two equal groups, training group (A) and control group (B). ThePittsburg sleep quality index (PSQI) questionnaire and a wrist-worn actigraph wereused for the assessment of sleep quality and sleepefficiency respectively. RVSP wasmeasured using echocardiography. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) assessed maximal heartrate and VO2max. All were measured before and after the study period for both groups. Exercise training was conducted on a bicycle ergometer as an individually-tailored moderate-intensity aerobic trainingsession (60 to 70% of the maximal heart rate reached during the initial exercise test) for 30 to 45min/day, 3sessions/week for 12weeks (36 sessions).

Sleep scores and RVSP showed significant reductions and VO2max-representing the aerobic fitness-showed a significant increase in the group (A) compared with group (B).

These results suggest that aerobic training has a positive effect on three risk factors for mortality in patients withPAH, namely sleep quality, decline inexercise capacity, and right ventricular remodeling.

This study investigates changes in trunk skeletal muscle size and composition using computed tomography (CT) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) among 16 crewmembers (1 female, 15 male) on 4-6 month missions. Muscle cross-sectional area and muscle attenuation were measured using abdominal CT scans at pre-flight, post-flight return, 1 year post-flight, and 2-4 years post-flight. Tenalisib Longitudinal muscle changes were analyzed using mixed models. In six crewmembers, CT and DXA data were used to calculate subject height-normalized skeletal muscle indices. Changes in these indices were analyzed using paired t-tests and compared by imaging modality using Pearson correlations. Trunk muscle area decreased at post-flight return (- 4.7 ± 1.1%, p  less then  0.001) and recovered to pre-flight values at 1-4 years post-flight. Muscle attenuation changes were not significant. Skeletal muscle index from CT decreased (- 5.2 ± 1.0%, p = 0.004) while appendicular skeletal muscle index from DXA did not change significantly. In summary, trunk muscle atrophies with long-duration microgravity exposure but recovers to pre-flight values within 1-4 years. The CT measures highlight size decreases not detected with DXA, emphasizing the importance of advanced imaging modalities in assessing muscle health with spaceflight.Brain electrical activity in acute ischemic stroke is related to the hypoperfusion of cerebral tissue as manifestation of neurovascular coupling. EEG could be applicable for bedside functional monitoring in emergency settings. We aimed to investigate the relation between hyper-acute ischemic stroke EEG changes, measured with bedside wireless-EEG, and hypoperfused core-penumbra CT-perfusion (CTP) volumes. In addition, we investigated the association of EEG and CTP parameters with neurological deficit measured by NIHSS. We analyzed and processed EEG, CTP and clinical data of 31 anterior acute ischemic stroke patients registered within 4.5 h from symptom onset. Delta/alpha ratio (DAR), (delta + theta)/(alpha + beta) ratio (DTABR) and relative delta power correlated directly (ρ = 0.72; 0.63; 0.65, respectively), while alpha correlated inversely (ρ = - 0.66) with total hypoperfused volume. DAR, DTBAR and relative delta and alpha parameters also correlated with ischemic core volume (ρ = 0.55; 0.50; 0.59; - 0.51, respectively). The same EEG parameters and CTP volumes showed significant relation with NIHSS at admission. The multivariate stepwise regression showed that DAR was the strongest predictor of NIHSS at admission (p less then 0.001). The results of this study showed that hyper-acute alterations of EEG parameters are highly related to the extent of hypoperfused tissue highlighting the value of quantitative EEG as a possible complementary tool in the evaluation of stroke severity and its potential role in acute ischemic stroke monitoring.
The impact of mild hyponatremia on geriatric syndromes is not clear. Our aim was to determine associations between mild hyponatremia and results of comprehensive geriatric assessment tools in outpatient settings.

We reviewed medical records of 1255 consecutive outpatient elderly subjects and compared results of comprehensive geriatric assessment measures among patients with mild hyponatremia (serum Na
 130-135mEq/L) versus normonatremia (serum Na
 136-145mEq/L). The comprehensive geriatric assessment measures included the Basic and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, Mini Mental State Examination, Geriatric Depression Score, Tinetti Mobility Test, the Timed Up&Go Test, the Mini Nutritional Assessment, the handgrip test, the Insomnia Severity Index, polypharmacy, recurrent falls, urinary incontinence, orthostatic hypotension, and nocturia.

Of the 1255 patients, 855 were female (68.1%), and the mean age was 73.7 ± 8.3years. Mild hyponatremia was detected in 108 patients (8.6%). The median serumgnificantly. Whether particular causes of hyponatremia may have different impacts should be tested in further studies.

Female Wistar rats were inoculated by ovarian cancer strain. After ovarian cancer transplantation rats were divided into two groups control group-without cisplatin treatment, the experimental group-under cisplatin treatment. The ascitic fluid was taken on the 9-th day after tumor cell inoculation. Digital cytomorphometric and cytobioinformatic analysis were used to study ascitic fluid cancer cell morphofunctional changes under cisplatin treatment.
