Miles Dewey Davis III was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music.

Miles was born on May 26, 1926 and raised in Illinois, and died at the aged of 65 on September 28, 1991. Miles began performing in 1940s in Neew York with saxophonist Charlie Parker before recording the Birth of the Cool sessions for Capitol Records.

Round About Midnight (1957), was his first work leading saxophonist John Coltrane and bassist Paul Chambers, key members of his hexad into the early 1960s.

At this period he alternated between orchestral jazz collaborations with arranger Gil Evans, such as the Spanish music-influenced sketches of Spain (1960), and band recordings, such as Milestones (1958) and Kind of Blue (1959) which featured harmonies developed by pianist Bill Evans.

Davis made several line-up changes while recording Someday My Prince Will Come (1961) his Black hawk concerts, and Seven Steps to Heaven (1963), another mainstream success that introduced bassist Ron Carter, pianist Herbie Hancock and drummer Tony Williams.

After adding saxophonist Wayne Shorter, to his new quintet in 1964. He led them on a series of albums of original composition, such as Sorcerer (1967) and Nefertiti ( 1968).

During the 1970s, Davis is into with rock, funk, African rhythms, emerging electronic music technology and an ever-changing line-up of musician, including Keyboardist Joe Zawinul, drummer Al Foster, and guitarist John McLaughlin.

Beginning with his 1969 studio album In a Silent way and including with the 19675 concert recording Agharta, was the most controversial in Davis' career. His million selling in 1970 record Bitches Brew.
