Compared with chemotherapy alone, PD-1 inhibitor plus chemotherapy significantly increased the risk of diarrhea (RR = 1.38, 95% CI, 1.13-1.68, P = 0.001; I 2 = 0%) and colitis (RR = 2.90, 95% CI, 1.02-8.21, P = 0.050; I 2 = 0%), PD-L1 inhibitor plus chemotherapy significantly increased the risk of nausea (RR = 1.17, 95% CI, 1.02-1.35, P = 0.020; I 2 = 0%), while CTLA-4 inhibitor plus chemotherapy significantly increased the risk of decreased appetite (RR = 1.49, 95% CI, 1.17-1.90, P = 0.001; I 2 = 0%), diarrhea (RR = 2.23, 95% CI, 1.90-2.63, P less then 0.00001; I 2 = 0%), and colitis (RR = 28.39, 95% CI, 5.59-144.24, P less then 0.001; I 2 = 0%). Conclusions This meta-analysis demonstrated that ICI plus chemotherapy is associated with a higher risk of gastrointestinal AEs. However, combining different ICIs may lead to diverse gastrointestinal toxicities. Clinicians should be aware of these AEs in the application of ICI plus chemotherapy. This study investigated the predictive value of clinical biochemistry-based indexes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This retrospective study included 559 NPC patients and 500 patients with chronic rhinitis. Continuous variables were measured by t-test. The area under curves (AUC) was used to determine the diagnostic and prognostic value for NPC. Kaplan-Meier methods and the log-rank test were used to analyze overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of the patients. Cox and logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the independent prognostic risk factors for survival and influencing factors of side effects after treatment, respectively. The study results revealed that most indexes of NPC and rhinitis were significantly different between the two groups. In the survival analysis, the systemic inflammation score (SIS), prognostic nutritional index (PNI), albumin/globulin ratio (AGR), albumin (ALB), urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (CREA) had significant influence on the OS and DFS. AGR was the optimal prognostic indicator for NPC. OPN expression inhibitor 1 cost Among these indexes, SIS, AGR, BUN and CERA were independent prognostic factors of OS, AGR and PNI were independent prognostic factors of DFS. Most indexes were risk factors of side effects occurred in radiotherapy. In conclusion, the clinical biochemistry-based indexes, are reliable and of low-cost, therefore, they can be used in predicting diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plans of NPC. It constitutes a substantial renewable substrate for the production of value-added chemicals. Lignocellulosic materials mostly contain a mixture of polymers such as cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin. Utilizing waste lignocellulosic materials such as agricultural residues, grasses, forestry wastes can significantly reduce the cost of raw materials. Optimization of significant process parameters is also a very important stage to develop an efficient and cost-effective bioprocess. The present paper describes the Box-Behnken design based optimization to evaluate the effects of various process parameters viz.temperature, pH, inoculum dosages, particle size, moisture percentage and incubation period on the production of cellulases by T. reesei NCIM 1186 and N. crassa NCIM 1021 under wheat bran based solid-state fermentation. It also portrays the utility of various plant polysaccharide hydrolysates such as boiled bagasse, bagasse, wheat straw, waste newspaper as well as starch hydrolysates in cellulase production. © 2020 The Authors. This paper presents the results of aeration rate effect on antifouling properties of polypropylene (PP)/TiO2 nanocomposite membrane in membrane bioreactor (MBR) system in order to oil refinery wastewater treatment. For this purpose, three levels of aeration rate with specific aeration demand per membrane area (SADm) of 0.5, 1, and 1.5 m3/m2h was used. According to the obtained results, PP nanocomposite membrane showed high hydrophilicity, porosity, and high flux compared to neat PP membrane. Also, either low or high aeration rate had a negative influence on permeability and antifouling properties of neat PP and nanocomposite membranes. The analysis of fouling mechanism for both membranes based on Hermia's model revealed that the cake formation is dominant mechanism for lower aeration rate while by increasing aeration rate, all models couldn't predict experimental data. Meanwhile, by increasing aeration rate, chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal for activated sludge and both membranes decreased and increased, respectively. © 2019 The Authors.Biogas is a clean and renewable form of energy available to low-income households through anaerobic digestion of readily available organic waste. A biodigester converts fermentable organic matter into a combustible gas and organic manure. Anaerobic digestion is a process of subjecting the material to microbial decomposition in the absence of air, yielding finally, methane, carbon dioxide, and water inside the biodigester. In the recent years, biogas has attracted wide attention in view of the fuel crisis and the environmental pollution associated with the fossil fuel, and its importance as an efficient and non-polluting energy source is now well appreciated. The objectives of this desktop study are to investigate the relevance of biogas technology use for substitution of solid fuels in rural areas of Vhembe district, the subsequent health co-benefits, and the constraints to adoption of domestic biogas technology in South Africa. The correlating factors influencing decisions in the sustainable adoption and utilisation of biogas technology in Vhembe district of Limpopo Province in South Africa are examined. In this study, the sampled households involved 72 biogas users and 128 non-users. The sampling techniques was purposive and simple random. The study was based on primary data that was elicited using open and closed-ended questionnaires. The logistic regression model was employed for data analysis. The energy demand of low-income South African households for cooking with fuelwood was found to be 27 MJ/day and the total energy demand 68 MJ/day. Approximately 625 000 households in Vhembe district can potentially benefit from bio-digester fed with cattle and pig waste, on the basis of livestock numbers. Most governments worldwide are now considering locally accessible, available, and renewable substitute energy options. © 2019 Published by Elsevier B.V.
