In the group of chickens treated with probiotic, the average daily gain in body weight was higher, while feed conversion decreased by 1.44%. A surge in the presence of beneficial bacteria of the Ruminococcaceae family was observed. Taub.], RGC-1002-a better drought tolerant than RGC-936-a comparatively sensitive variety, were subjected to 8 days of water stress. The physiological characteristics of gas exchange, pigments and the spectral properties of the leaves were monitored and assessed. The guar variety, RGC-1002 exhibited higher relative water content (RWC) and biomass accumulation in water stress condition as compared to RGC-936. click here The RGC-1002 variety also showed a higher rate of photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, and lesser reduction in chlorophyll content as compared to RGC-936 variety. On the 8th day of drought, the leaf anthocyanin levels were also higher in RGC-1002 than RGC-936. Increased levels of anthocyanin result in decrease in absorption of light, and an increase in reflectance, and transmittance. The scattering coefficient of leaf spectra was significantly increased in RGC-936 than in RGC-1002 leaves; this is due to an increase in the size of intercellular air spaces and shrinkage of cells as a result of water loss. The leaf reflectance was also observed to be significantly increased in RGC-936 than in RGC-1002 leaves. The physiological and leaf optical observations substantiate that RGC-1002 was better adapted to water stress than RGC-936 variety.

In this study, 31 FEX genes were identified across 19 plant species. Camphor Resistance (CrcB) domain was found to be present in all the identified FEX genes in plants. FEX genes were sequentially very conserved among the plants and are located mostly in chloroplast and mitochondria. The tertiary structure (3D) of AtFEX1 suggests that FEX genes of plants possess pore I and pore II, necessary for fluoride export. The TTFSGWNQ and GCLSTVSTF motifs were found to be well conserved in pore I and pore II. Phenylalanine (Phe/F) was also present in both the motifs, necessary for fluoride ions recognition and export. Cis-acting analysis in promoter sequences of plant FEX revealed several elements associated with various functions such as phytohormone signaling, integrating biotic and abiotic stress responses in plants. Prolong fluoride exposure causes necrosis in young leaves in Vigna radiata. Expression of VrFEX1 and VrFEX2 were highly induced under exogenous fluoride, thus suggesting a possible role in fluoride detoxification.

Here, the effectiveness of an up-flow vertical hybrid system, operating with synthetic and industrial wastewater was investigated, as a new approach to perform nitrification/denitrification and desulfurization within a single reactor. The hybrid reactor is divided in two reaction zones, the oxic and anoxic. The removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonium, and sulfide was investigated, highlighting changes in microbial diversity. The reactor was evaluated at hydraulic residence time (HRT) of 1.6 days, and its performance throughout 180 days is presented in four stages. In stages I-II, high COD and ammonium removal was obtained with synthetic wastewater. In stage-III, sulfide-rich synthetic wastewater did not alter the system, attaining COD, ammonium, and sulfide removal efficiencies of 81, 99.5, and 99.7%, respectively. In the last stage, a mixture of effluents was fed into the reactor at loading rates of 277 mg COD/L-d, 46.5 mg NH4+-N /L-d, and 15 mg HS--S /L-d. Sulfide and ammonium removals were 100% and 99.9%, respectively. However, low COD removal was observed, being of 51%, and the system removed 97% in terms of BOD5. The structure and microbial diversity also changed. Sulfide feeding, induced the proliferation of sulfur oxidizers like Thiomiscropira and Thiobacillus. Industrial wastewater enhanced the abundance of Pseudomonas (15.53%) and favored the proliferation of new bacteria of the genus Truepera (2.98%) and Alicyclipilus (7.56%). This is the first study reporting simultaneous nitrification/denitrification and desulfurization to remove ammonium, COD and sulfide from complex industrial wastewater using an up-flow vertical hybrid reactor.Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has posed a serious threat to both the human health and economy of the affected nations. Despite several control efforts invested in breaking the transmission chain of the disease, there is a rise in the number of reported infected and death cases around the world. Hence, there is the need for a mathematical model that can reliably describe the real nature of the transmission behaviour and control of the disease. This study presents an appropriately developed deterministic compartmental model to investigate the effect of different pharmaceutical (treatment therapies) and non-pharmaceutical (particularly, human personal protection and contact tracing and testing on the exposed individuals) control measures on COVID-19 population dynamics in Malaysia. The data from daily reported cases of COVID-19 between 3 March and 31 December 2020 are used to parameterize the model. The basic reproduction number of the model is estimated. Numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effect of various control combination strategies involving the use of personal protection, contact tracing and testing, and treatment control measures on the disease spread.
