Total hospital length of stay (LOS) was not different between the montelukast and placebo groups (p = 0.981). There was no statistically significant difference between the two treatment groups in terms of discharge time, CAS, and oxygen saturation (p ≥ 0.05).
Adding montelukast to standard treatment in patients hospitalized for moderate-to-severe wheezing attacks did not affect hospital LOS and CAS.

The increase in immunohistochemical and molecular predictive tests in lung cancer requires new strategies for managing small samples taken during bronchoscopic procedures. The value of Rapid On Site Evaluation (ROSE) during conventional bronchoscopic procedures on endobronchial neoplasms in optimizing small biopsies and cytologlogical tissue specimens for diagnostic testing, and ancillary studies was evaluated.
ROSE on touch imprint cytology (TIC) and brushing was performed on 690 consecutive cases of patients undergoing biopsies, using fiber optic bronchoscopy. Immunohistochemical assay for PD-L1, ALK, and ROS1 and molecular testing, via next generation technique for EGFR, KRAS, and BRAF, were performed.
The concordance between ROSE and final diagnoses was almost perfect for brushing (sensitivity 0.84; specificity 0.96), and less so for touch preparations (sensitivity 0.77; specificity 0.89). Immunohistochemical assay for PD-L1 was evaluated on 256 bioptic cases with only six unsuitable samples. Material available for immunohistochemistry for ALK was sufficient in 151 biopsies with no inadequate cases. ROS1 was evaluated in 132 biopsies, with only two unsuitable samples. Molecular analysis was performed on 128 biopsies, 29 TIC, and 17 brushing. Out of these, only ten were considered to be unsuitable.
ROSE is an effective procedure for monitoring the quality and quantity of material taken during conventional bronchoscopic procedures for evaluating the suitability of small samples that must undergo immunohistochemical and molecular assay.

Latent profile analyses and latent transition analyses were applied to identify subgroups of parental control and transitions of these patterns over time among rural-to-urban migrant adolescents who participated in two waves of surveys with 6-month interval in 2014 (NT1 = 660, NT2 = 553). Multivariate logistic regression was conducted to explore their relationship with psychosocial well-being. Four latent profiles were identified based on levels of parental control at wave 1 and wave 2, respectively. The high psychological and behavioral control (HPHB) group was associated with worse psychosocial well-being whereas the low psychological control and high behavioral control (LPHB) group exhibited opposite relationships. Six transitioning groups were identified "stably low-risk" (14.92%), "stably medium-risk" (7.37%), "stably high-risk" (24.49%), "floating LPHB" (26.52%), "high-decreasing" (15.10%), and "low-increasing" (11.60%) groups. The "stably high-risk" and "low-increasing" groups showed a higher risk in psychosocial well-being. Youth exhibiting higher risks of parental control (i.e. individuals in HPHB groups and higher-risk transition patterns over time) should prioritize for interventions and services. The separation of C2 H2 from C2 H4 is one of the most challenging tasks due to the similarity of their physical properties. In addition, green synthetic protocol and adsorbent's stability are also the major concerns during the separation. read more Herein, under hydrothermal green synthesis conditions, an ultrastable ultramicroporous Zn-MOF was designed and synthesized with a high yield. The pore diameter of the Zn-MOF is 3.6 Å, which lies in between the diameters of C2 H2 (3.3 Å) and C2 H4 (4.2 Å) molecules, leading to an efficient separation of the C2 H2 /C2 H4 mixtures by the sieving effect. The practical separation performance of C2 H2 /C2 H4 was confirmed by the dynamic breakthrough experiments. Moreover, the high stability enables the adsorption capacity of the Zn-MOF to C2 H2 , which can be maintained under a wide range of pH (1-13). Molecular simulations were also performed to identify the different C2 H2 - and C2 H4 -binding sites in Zn-MOF.This paper presents a comprehensive review of the research studies in volatolomics performed on animals so far. At first, the procedures proposed for the collection, preconcentration, and storing of the volatile organic compounds emitted by various biological samples of different animals are presented and discussed. Next, the results obtained in the analysis of the collected volatile samples with analytical equipment are shown. The possible volatile biomarkers identified for various diseases are highlighted for different types of diseases, animal species, and biological samples analyzed. The chemical classes of these compounds, as well as the biomarkers found in a higher number of animal diseases, are indicated, and their possible origin is analyzed. The studies that dealt with the diagnosis of various diseases from sample measurement with electronic nose systems are also presented and discussed. The paper ends with a final remark regarding the necessity of optimization and standardization of sample collection and analysis procedures for obtaining meaningful results.
To examine (1) whether daily declines in physical activity (PA) level and/or in lung function (FEV1) predict an asthma exacerbation in a sample of urban children with asthma, and (2) the association between number of sleep awakenings and decline in daytime PA in this group.
In this sample of urban children aged 7-9 years with persistent asthma (N = 147), objective methods assessing lung function via a handheld spirometer and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) via accelerometry were measured over a 4-week period during the fall and early winter of each year as part of a larger 5-year study.
In the entire sample, a significant association between PA and lung function was noted such that a greater decline in daily MVPA was associated with lower odds of exacerbation. Ethnic group differences showed that this association was also significant only among Latino children (odds ratio [OR] = 0.98; 95% confidence interval [CI]0.97-0.99). A greater number of sleep awakenings were associated with greater declines in daily MVPA among Latinos only (p = .
