Coronal CT scans of 35 orbits from 35 patients with Graves' orbitopathy were retrospectively examined. A standard multiplanar orbital reconstruction enabled the authors to calculate the vertical distance from the cranial base to the AEF and the horizontal distance to the lateral edge of the OF. The height of the OF was evaluated at the AEF level and at the Keros classification site. It was further ascertained that supraorbital ethmoid cells (SOEC) were present.
The cranial base's vertical distance from the AEF varied between 1 and 73 mm, averaging 25 mm (standard deviation = 2.17 mm). A substantial 475% of orbital routes showed the foramen positioned in close adjacency (<1mm) to the cranial base. The AEF's horizontal position relative to the lateral border of the OF demonstrated a range from 23mm to 95mm, a mean of 54mm, and a standard deviation of 198mm.
