Catoptromancy, written as κάτοπτρον, (spell: katoptron) means 'glass' and μαντεία, (spell: manteia) means divination. So, catoptromancy means using a glass to do forecasting.

In ancient rome, a person who's forecasting using Catoptromancy called as “SPECULARII”.

How to do a catoptromancy? You face the glass to the moon for catch its light. Then, you'll be looking for the answer. It usually appears on the moon's face or more precisely at reflection in the glass.

Tie a yarn on glass' grip, then hang it on water surface. So, you will reflect your shadow and the water will reflect the moon's light. After that, lower the glass slowly until the bottom, but don't touch the water surface. Burn the incense and read out a prayer. The prayer comes from Greece and Roman.

There's a sign when the mortality or recovery comes, matching with look or sign which appears on the glass. If it is a picture or freshness sign, then it means recovery, a prosperity is already near. But if opposite like a scary picture, then the death will come fast.

Catoptromancy is a type of divination with glass, which already exists since the 2nd centuries.
