Health costs have increased significantly around the world, and cost assessments have become important. This study aimed to collect cost of the resources used in the national hepatitis B immunization program in Southern Iran.
Costs were calculated by investigating the available documents as well as consulting with knowledgeable personnel. These costs were collected using the data from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. According to the health payer's perspective, the indirect costs of the people were not taken into account. All current and capital costs in year 2017 were calculated and converted to US dollars (USDs).
In 2017, 33204 children received hepatitis B vaccine. The total cost of the national hepatitis B vaccination program in Shiraz and the cost of vaccination per child were 473 506 and 14.26 USD, respectively. However, the cost of inoculation of hepatitis B vaccine per dose was estimated at 3.20 USD. Personnel costs constituted the highest proportion (53.84%) of total costs.
The cost of hepatitis B vaccination in Iran was lower than other countries. Considering that personnel costs had the largest proportion, it is recommended that proper measures be taken to monitor and modify these costs if necessary.

This longitudinal study compared the school career of a nationwide Dutch cohort with and without HL based on descriptive data of the governmental authority Statistics Netherlands. From 2008 to 2018, 3,367,129 children, of whom 1,193 used cochlear implants (CIs) and 8,874 used hearing aids (HAs), were attending primary and/or secondary education. Sixty-one percent of children with HL attended mainstream and 31% special primary education. Compared to mainstreamed pupils without HL, mainstreamed pupils with HL achieved lower levels for language and mathematics in primary education but eventually attended comparable types of secondary education. Children with HL attending special primary education attained lower types of secondary education compared to mainstreamed peers with and without HL. Here, we examined early functional and structural connectivity of thalamocortical networks in infants at high familial risk for ASD (HR) and low-risk controls (LR). Resting-state functional connectivity and diffusion tensor imaging data were acquired in 52 6-week-old infants. Functional connectivity was examined between 6 cortical seeds-prefrontal, motor, somatosensory, temporal, parietal, and occipital regions-and bilateral thalamus. We found significant thalamic-prefrontal underconnectivity, as well as thalamic-occipital and thalamic-motor overconnectivity in HR infants, relative to LR infants. Subsequent structural connectivity analyses also revealed atypical white matter integrity in thalamic-occipital tracts in HR infants, compared with LR infants. Notably, aberrant connectivity indices at 6 weeks predicted atypical social development between 9 and 36 months of age, as assessed with eye-tracking and diagnostic measures. These findings indicate that thalamocortical connectivity is disrupted at both the functional and structural level in HR infants as early as 6 weeks of age, providing a possible early marker of risk for ASD.Intrinsically disordered regions/proteins (IDRs) are abundant across all the domains of life, where they perform important regulatory roles and supplement the biological functions of structured proteins/regions (SRs). Despite the multifunctionality features of IDRs, several interrogations on the evolution of viral genomic regions encoding IDRs in diverse viral proteins remain unreciprocated. To fill this gap, we benchmarked the findings of two most widely used and reliable intrinsic disorder prediction algorithms (IUPred2A and ESpritz) to a dataset of 6108 reference viral proteomes to unravel the multifaceted evolutionary forces that shape the codon usage in the viral genomic regions encoding for IDRs and SRs. We found persuasive evidence that the natural selection predominantly governs the evolution of codon usage in regions encoding IDRs by most of the viruses. In addition, we confirm not only that codon usage in regions encoding IDRs is less optimized for the protein synthesis machinery (transfer RNAs pool) of their host than for those encoding SRs, but also that the selective constraints imposed by codon bias sustain this reduced optimization in IDRs. Our analysis also establishes that IDRs in viruses are likely to tolerate more translational errors than SRs. All these findings hold true, irrespective of the disorder prediction algorithms used to classify IDRs. In conclusion, our study offers a novel perspective on the evolution of viral IDRs and the evolutionary adaptability to multiple taxonomically divergent hosts.Plants take up and translocate nutrients through transporters. In this study, we confirmed the lysine-590 residue in the C-terminal cytosolic region of BOR1 as the direct ubiquitination site and showed that BOR1 undergoes K63-linked polyubiquitination. A forward genetic screen identified that amino acid residues located in vicinity of the substrate-binding pocket of BOR1 are essential for the vacuolar sorting. BOR1 variants that lack B-transport activity showed a significant reduction of polyubiquitination and subsequent vacuolar sorting. Coexpression of wild-type (WT) and a transport-defective variant of BOR1 in the same cells showed degradation of the WT but not the variant upon sufficient-B supply.
