Over the past several decades, advances in driven targeted therapy has revolutionized the management of oncogene-driven non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, there are only a few targeted drugs available for patients with rare mutations, such as BRAF, HER2, MET, RET, etc. In recent years, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have demonstrated promising benefit in NSCLC. Till now, efficacy of ICIs for NSCLC with rare mutation is largely unknown. It is fairly difficult to conduct a large formal prospective controlled trials because of the rarity of these mutation. In this article, currently available real world studies based on convincing clinical evidence will be reviewed, which will ultimately facilitate our rational use of ICIs for NSCLC with rare mutation. .
Acute cerebral infarction is a form of Trousseau syndrome (TS), but is relatively rare and often overlooked by clinicians. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical, laboratory and imaging features of acute cerebral infarction in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with TS.
Clinical data, laboratory examination and imaging data of 25 NSCLC patients with TS presented with acute cerebral infarction were collected retrospectively for analysis.
Of the 25 patients, 18 males and 7 females, aged 39-78 years old, including 22 cases of adenocarcinoma, 2 cases of squamous cell carcinoma, and 1 case of large cell carcinoma; all patients had clinical symptoms and signs of acute cerebral infarction; plasma D-dimer was significantly increased, and prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time were shortened to varying degrees; all patients showed acute multiple cerebral infarction foci involving multiple intracranial arterial blood supply areas on plain head magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) [diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) sequence], the blood supply vessel lumen corresponding to the infarction foci did not show moderate to severe stenosis on the head MR angiography (MRA).
NSCLC with multiple acute cerebral infarctions is a rare manifestation of TS, which is characterized by multiple acute cerebral infarctions involving multiple arterial blood supply areas with significant hypercoagulability. Improving the early understanding of this disease can provide some help for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

With the popularization of chest computed tomography (CT) early screening for lung cancer, the detection rate of lung cancer combined with multiple primary malignancies (MPM) in other organs has been increasing. ACT-1016-0707 price In this paper, the incidence, pathological characteristics, diagnosis and treatment characteristics and prognosis were discussed and analyzed to provide research basis for improving the clinical diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
From September 2011 to September 2015, a total of 5,570 patients with lung cancer were treated in Jiangsu Cancer Hospital. The clinicopathological characteristics of 61 patients with lung cancer combined with MPM in other organs were retrospectively analyzed.
The incidence rate of lung cancer combined with MPM in other organs in this group was 1.1%, of which 15 cases were synchronous MPM (SMPM), 46 cases were metachronous MPM (MMPM). Colorectal cancer, breast cancer and thyroid cancer accounted for the top three of lung cancer combined with MPM in other organs. Thalliative treatment and without EGFR gene mutation had a poor prognosis.
Thymomas are the most common primary malignant tumors of anterior mediastinal. However, there are no specific laboratory indicator for the diagnosis the diagnosis of thymoma. The aim of this study was to screen out a tumor marker for diagnosis of thymoma by mRNA microarray analysis and confirmed it.
By mRNA microarray analysis of 31 thymomas and peritumoral thymic tissues, we found that the transcription level of neuronal pentraxin 1 (NPTX1) gene was up-regulated more than 4 times in thymomas. To further verify the above results, we detected the transcription and expression level of NPTX1 in 60 thymoma and 30 thymic cyst patients by quantitative Real-Time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), immunohistochemistry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Furthermore, the diagnostic value of NPTX1 in thymoma by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was analyzed.
The transcription level of NPTX1 mRNA in thymoma tissues was significantly higher than that in the thymic tissues of control group [(2.88±1.02) vs (1.35±0.47), P<0.001); The expression level of NPTX1 in thymoma tissues was significantly higher than that in the thymic tissues of control group (2 vs 1, P<0.001); The preoperative serum level of NPTX1 protein in thymoma patients were significantly higher than that in the thymic cyst patients of control group [(1,018.29±209.38) pg/mL vs (759.95±66.02) pg/mL, P<0.001]; At the threshold of 842.22 pg/mL, sensitivity and specificity of NPTX1 as a serologic marker were 85.00% and 93.33%, respectively for thymoma. ROC showed that the area the under curve (AUC) of NPTX1 was 0.902.
NPTX1 was highly expressed in thymoma patients, and had diagnostic value for thymoma.
NPTX1 was highly expressed in thymoma patients, and had diagnostic value for thymoma. In the published manuscript [...].Due to an error during production, in [...].The authors wish to make the following corrections [1]In Table 1, under case study 4, the code was originally labeled as H8, P8 and ADI 8; these labels should be H4, P4 and ADI 4, respectively [...].While periodontal disease is associated with many risk factors, socioeconomically disadvantaged communities experience the highest disease burden. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a personalized oral health education program, in combination with routine dental treatment, in participants from a low socioeconomic community. We used a randomized, controlled, examiner-blinded clinical trial. A total of 579 participants (aged 18-60 years) were randomly grouped the intervention group (n = 292) received a personalized oral health education program in combination with routine dental care and the control group (n = 287) received routine dental care. All participants were assessed for improvement in oral health care behaviors, dental plaque, and periodontal status at baseline, 12 months, and 24 months. We found a significant drop (p less then 0.001) in the plaque indices, Periodontal Probing Depths (PPD) and Bleeding on Probing (BOP) between baseline and the 12-month follow-up for both groups.
