Clothianidin is drenched at planting to manage the termites of sugarcane. The application of organic manures at planting is also in vogue to conserve the soil moisture in the tropical ecosystem. Hence, the persistence behaviour of clothianidin was studied in the sandy clay loam soil of tropical sugarcane ecosystem under different organic manuring. The clothianidin residues persisted up to 90th DAT and reached below the limit of quantification (LOQ = 0.005 µg/g) on 105th DAT both in the manurial and non-manurial soils. The half-lives of clothianidin were in the range of 22.4-24.8 days in the manurial soils as against 21 days in the non-manurial soil, indicating the insignificant positive impact of organic manures on the soil persistence of clothianidin. Our study aimed to close this gap by using narrow inclusion criteria and standardized surgical outcome parameters. A total of ten neonates who were diagnosed with bilateral complete CA and underwent endoscopic surgery at the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in the University Hospital of Munich between 2008 and 2017 were included. Preoperative findings, surgical procedures, outcome, and follow-up were analyzed. Standardized criteria were used to assess surgical outcome. Almost all patients (90%) required at least one revision procedure within the first 6 months after initial surgery because of symptomatic partial or complete restenosis. After that, all surviving patients remained asymptomatic until the end of the follow-up period.Conclusion Endoscopic bilateral CA repair in neonates is a safe procedure with a high long-term success rate. However, compared to other patient groups with choanal obstruction, restenosis occurs frequently, and revision procedures are required in a large number of cases. This should be considered during preoperative planning and parent counseling. A total of 43 Italian children, aged between 6 and 16 years, diagnosed with spina bifida, myelomeningocele, and shunted hydrocephalus have been described clinically and completed a neuropsychological battery in order to evaluate their cognitive, personality, and behavior profile.

Enrolled children underwent cognitive assessment by means of the Weschler WISC-IV cognitive test and assessment of the attention sustained through the LEITER test. Whereas parliamentarians have the authority to ratify legislation, monitor policies and budgets and transform behaviour, to date little is known about how malnutrition is understood and debated in sub-Saharan African political arenas. This study addresses that gap by exploring how (mal)nutrition has been framed by parliamentarians in Uganda between 2001 and 2017. Applying framing theory we performed a qualitative content analysis of 131 Parliament Hansards transcripts to determine the different meanings of nutrition. Our analysis distinguishes seven co-occurring frames that entail different, sometimes competing, understandings of the drivers and possible solutions of malnutrition. The frames are (i) the emergency nutrition frame, (ii) the chronic vulnerability frame, (iii) the school feeding frame, (iv) the disease-related frame, (v) the diversification frame, (vi) the overnutrition (among politicians) frame and (vii) the poverty and inequality frame. These frames are sponsored by different groups of parliamentarians, most notably politicians representing constituencies with high degrees of malnutrition, the president, some ministers and politicians in parliamentary forums concerned with children and women issues. Our analysis helps to understand why policy measures get prioritized or disregarded by policymakers. Overall, we show that frame sponsors prioritize short-term tangible solutions, such as food assistance and agricultural inputs, over longer term solutions. We suggest that a more comprehensive policy frame is prerequisite to developing a more effective governance approach to malnutrition in Uganda.
Substructure screening is widely applied to evaluate the molecular potency and ADMET properties of compounds in drug discovery pipelines, and it can also be used to interpret QSAR models for the design of new compounds with desirable physicochemical and biological properties. With the continuous accumulation of more experimental data, data-driven computational systems which can derive representative substructures from large chemical libraries attract more attention. Therefore, the development of an integrated and convenient tool to generate and implement representative substructures is urgently needed.

In this study, PySmash, a user-friendly and powerful tool to generate different types of representative substructures, was developed. The current version of PySmash provides both a Python package and an individual executable program, which achieves ease of operation and pipeline integration. Three types of substructure generation algorithms, including circular, path-based and functional group-based algorithms, are provided.
