1. Jawab: (1) Komet Nonperiodik, yaitu komet yang tidak dapat diperkirakan kenampakannya karena periode revolusinya sangat lama, dalam kata lain komet ini memiliki waktu orbit yang lebih panjang. Contohnya; komet Arend-Roland, komet Brooks, komet Ikeya-Seki, komet Lulin dan komet Kohoutek.
(2) Komet Periodik, yaitu komet yang hanya memiliki periode revolusi mengelilingi matahari beberapa tahun atau puluh tahun/hingga dua ratus tahun saja. Komet periodik rata-rata memiliki jarak orbit yang lebih pendek, sehingga untuk kembali ke satu titik yang sama dapat ditempuh dengan waktu yang cepat.
