Objective This study's main purpose is to determine the functional outcome of volar locking plates in the management of intraarticular fracture of the distal radius. Methodology This cross-sectional study was conducted from August 2016 to August 2019. Forty-nine patients with the intraarticular distal radius fractures managed by the volar locking plate were included in the study. Patients with open fractures, ipsilateral other limb injuries, polytrauma patients, pathological fractures, and patients having neurovascular injuries were excluded from the study. AO Classification was used to classify fractures. The fracture was approached through the volar approach and fixed by the volar locking plate. A modified mayo wrist score evaluated the functional outcome. All the data were recorded on predesigned performa, and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 20 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) was used to analyze the data. Results A total of 49 patients with intraarticular fractures of the distal radius were included in the study. The mean age of the patient was 37.20 ± 10.05 years. Out of 49 patients, 29 (59.2%) were males, and 20 (40.8%) were females. Union was achieved in almost all fractures except one case, which went into non-union despite the adequate initial reduction, and the mean time of union was 11.98 ± 1.64 weeks. CFTR modulator With respect to the stratification of functional outcome very good and good functional outcome was achieved in 46 patients (93.8%) in both the groups, the satisfactory outcome was achieved in two (4.1%) cases and one patient had a bad outcome in which union was not achieved and went into non-union. Conclusion Open reduction and internal fixation of intraarticular fracture of the distal radius using a volar locking plate is a good option for managing these fractures as it provides stable fixation, and good to excellent outcomes can be achieved by using these plates.Type 1 autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a rare inflammatory disorder of the liver that may arise at any age, from infancy to adulthood. Long-standing autoimmune hepatitis may progress to cirrhosis and subsequent hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the true incidence of HCC in AIH patients is unknown as there is a paucity of published data. Currently, there are no established guidelines on screening patients with AIH for HCC. Without screening protocols, patients with AIH may present with late-stage HCC that may have been detected and treated earlier in the disease course. We describe a case of a patient with type 1 AIH who developed stage IIIB HCC in the absence of appropriate screening protocols with complex social determinants leading to barriers to access regular follow-up care.Submandibular gland injury is a rare occurrence that has been only documented in case reports. This case highlights the importance of understanding the harm that non-powder firearms are capable of causing despite being perceived as toys.Purpose A single-isocenter volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment to multiple brain metastatic patients is an efficient stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) option. However, the current clinical practice of single-isocenter SRS does not account for patient setup uncertainty, which degrades treatment delivery accuracy. This study quantifies the loss of target coverage and potential collateral dose to normal tissue due to clinically observable isocenter misalignment. Methods and materials Nine patients with 61 total tumors (2-16 tumors/patient) who underwent Gamma Knife® SRS were replanned in Eclipse™ using 10 megavoltages (MV) flattening-filter-free (FFF) bream (2400 MU/min), using a single-isocenter VMAT plan, similar to HyperArc™ VMAT plan. Isocenter was placed in the geometric center of the tumors. The prescription was 20 Gy to each tumor. Average gross tumor volume (GTV) and planning target volume (PTV) were 1.1 cc (0.02-11.5 cc) and 1.9 cc (0.11-18.8 cc), respectively, derived from MRI images. The anter VMAT SRS treatment (similar to HyperArc™ VMAT) to multiple brain metastases was fast with less then 6 min of beam-on time. However, due to small residual set up errors, single-isocenter VMAT, in its current use, is not an accurate SRS treatment modality for multiple brain metastases. Loss of target coverage was statistically significant, especially for smaller lesions, and may not be clinically acceptable if left uncorrected. Further investigation of correction strategies is underway.Background Contraception, also known as family planning, refers to methods that intercept unwanted pregnancies. The study further assesses the knowledge and core determinants of contraception. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Karachi, Pakistan. The sample population comprised currently married males and females residing in Karachi, with females from 16 to 45 years of age and males of 16 years of age and forth. Pregnant females, divorcees, and widowed individuals were excluded. A pre-tested questionnaire was administered to record the demographics, knowledge, and frequency of contraceptive usage, and attitude and perception towards contraception. Endoscopy is the mainstay of diagnostic workup of these patients to reach underlying cause and appropriate subsequent treatment. The objective of the study was to determine the frequency of various types of endoscopic findings in patients with dysphagia and the association of these findings with gender, age and duration of symptoms. Methods This cross-sectional study was carried out in the Department of Gastroenterology of a tertiary care hospital in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. A total of 137 patients who presented with a history of dysphagia for at least two weeks were enrolled in the study. Duration of symptoms was noted, and all patients underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to find out the cause of dysphagia. Tissue biopsies were obtained, and further histopathological examination was performed to correlate the findings with symptoms of dysphagia. Results A total of 137 patients were enrolled for six months.
