Laser energy within the management of hemorrhoid pathology: an assessment materials.
When a pneumothorax develops during the biopsy procedure, it can be manually aspirated after the needle is retracted back into the pleural space or by inserting a separate needle into the pleural space. Biopsy side down positioning of the patient after biopsy significantly reduces the incidence of pneumothorax and the requirement of chest tube placement. Aspiration in biopsy side down position is also recommended for treating pneumothorax when simple manual aspiration is unsuccessful or delayed pneumothorax occurred. Chest tube placement is an important treatment strategy for patients with a large or symptomatic pneumothorax. Clinicians are encouraged to understand the development, prevention, and treatment of pneumothorax. Efforts should be made to reduce the incidence of pneumothorax in biopsy planning and post-biopsy precautions. When pneumothorax occurs, appropriate treatment should be adopted to reduce the risk of worsening pneumothorax.
In Japan, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare population dynamics investigation showed a decrease in the number of deaths related to asthma in recent years. In 2016, the mortality rate was 1.2 deaths per 100,000 population. There were regional differences; Shimane Prefecture had a higher mortality rate (1.6 deaths per 100,000 population in 2016) than other prefectures. In this study, to clarify problems in asthma treatment, we evaluated the status of asthma treatment in Shimane Prefecture.

We performed three cross-sectional questionnaire surveys, in October 2006, February 2009, and February 2012. We received responses from 78 clinics and hospitals. Subjects were patients with bronchial asthma over 14 years of age who regularly visited an outpatient clinic. Survey items included smoking status, control status assessed using the Asthma Control Test (ACT), treatment, and medication adherence. Doctors board-certified by the Japanese Respiratory Society were defined as respiratory specialists (RSs) and other doctors were defined as general practitioners (GPs). We compared various factors between the RS and GP groups.

Clinical data of 2159 patients were available for analysis. The proportion of patients with ACT score ≥ 20 points increased significantly between 2006 and 2012 in the GP group. The rate of inhaled corticosteroid use increased in the GP group from 63.6% to 76.4%.

It was suggested that asthma control and the rate of inhaled corticosteroid use were related. We should continue educating GPs about asthma treatment.

Although Ethiopia has developed many strategies to promote health facility delivery, more than half of the women gave birth at home contributing to high maternal and neonatal mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the determinants of health facility delivery in Northwest Ethiopia.

A community-based unmatched case-control study was conducted in selected districts in Northwest Ethiopia. The sample included 885 infant mothers (295 cases and 590 controls) from April 6-16, 2019. Data were collected using a pretested interviewer-administered structured questionnaire. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to identify predictors, and STATA 14 statistical software was used to analyze the data.

The mean maternal age was 26.4 years (SD±6.7) for cases and 28.1 years (SD±6.8) for controls. The present study aimed to explore sedation management in agitated patients who suffered from acute respiratory failure (ARF) and were treated with noninvasive ventilation (NIV).

We divided 118 patients undergoing NIV treatment with butorphanol or propofol into two groups group B (n = 57, butorphanol was initiated at the rate of 0.12 µg/kg/min as a continuous intravenous infusion and then titrated by 0.06 µg/kg/min every half an hour, group P (n = 61, propofol was initiated at the rate of 5 µg/kg/min as a continuous intravenous infusion and then titrated by 1.5 µg/kg/min every half an hour). Score of Sedation Agitation Scale (SAS) in the two groups was maintained between 3 and 4. Medications including sedative, analgesic, and antipsychotic, NIV intolerance score, SAS score, visual analog scale (VAS), medication use and adverse events were recorded repeatedly.

Patients receiving butorphanol required significantly less total amount of fentanyl than patients receiving propofol during NIV to maintain the target VAS [0 (0-0) µg vs 150 (50-200) µg,
< 0.005]. Hemodynamic stability during NIV showed it was better kept in patients treated with butorphanol.

Butorphanol not only decreased the requirements of fentanyl but also enhanced hemodynamic stability in agitated patients suffering from ARF receiving NIV.

The dysregulation of arrestin domain containing 3 (ARRDC3) has an important effect on oncogenesis and tumor progression in many cancers, including renal cell carcinoma and breast cancer. However, the role of ARRDC3 in ovarian cancer (OC) has not been reported.

The present study explored the diagnostic and prognostic roles of ARRDC3 in ovarian cancer using GEPIA, ONCOMINE, GEO, and Kaplan-Meier Plotter databases for training and validation. Then, we conducted a stratified analysis for clinicopathological factors using Kaplan-Meier Plotter and GEPIA databases. To further explore the mechanisms, we also used the MIST database to visualize the protein-protein interaction network of ARRDC3 associated with OC. The gene-gene interaction network was visualized by GeneMANIA plugin in Cytoscape 3.8.0 software, and the associated co-expression genes of ARRDC3 were analyzed by the cBioPortal database. The 100 top co-expression genes chosen for gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were used by the DAVID website.
