The pilot carbon emission trading scheme in Guangdong Province (GD ETS) of China has fulfilled seven compliance periods, and its potential impact on regulated firms has drawn increasing attention. This article empirically investigated the impact of the ETS on firm behaviors and competitiveness (i.e., cost competitiveness and green competitiveness) by surveying all power firms in the GD ETS. Low-carbon management, carbon asset transactions, and energy saving and emission reduction technology were identified as firm behaviors. The relationships among the ETS, firm behaviors, and firm competitiveness were tested by using bootstrap multiple mediation analyses. The results showed that the GD ETS has a positive impact on firm behaviors. The three examined firm behaviors actually reflect the depth of firm participation in the ETS. The more the firm participates, the greater the mediating effects that the firm behaviors exert on firm competitiveness are. Both carbon asset transactions and energy saving and emission reduction technology have a mediating effect on the relationship between the GD ETS and cost competitiveness, while only the latter mediates the relationship between the GD ETS and green competitiveness. Implications for policy makers and firm operators were discussed. To complete a loop of the Miscanthus value chain including production, phytomanagement, conversion to energy, and bioproducts, the wastes accumulated from these processes have to be returned to the production cycle to provide sustainable use of the feedstock, to reduce costs, and to ensure a zero-waste approach. This can be achieved by converting Miscanthus feedstock into biogas and biochar using pyrolysis and then returning biochar to the production cycle of Miscanthus crop applications in the phytotechnology of trace elements (TEs)-contaminated/marginal lands. These processes are subjects of the current review, which focused on the peculiarities of biochar received from Miscanthus by pyrolysis, its properties, the impact on soil characteristics, the phytoremediation process, biomass yield, and the abundance of soil biodiversity. Results from the literature indicated that the pH, surface area, and porosity of Miscanthus biochar are important in determining its impact on soil characteristics. It was inferred ar will be obtained from contaminated rhizomes and waste after the application of phytotechnology. In addition, studies must explore the influence of this biochar on TEs phytoparameters, enhancements in biomass yield, improvements in soil parameters, and the abundance of soil diversity.Stormwater has immense impacts on urban flooding and water quality, leaving the marginalized and the impoverished disproportionately impacted by and vulnerable to stormwater hazards. However, the environmental health concerns of socially and economically marginalized individuals are largely underestimated. Through regression analysis of data from three longitudinal surveys, this article examines if and how an individual's race, gender, and education level help predict one's concern about and willingness to participate in stormwater management. selleck products We found that people of color, women, and less-educated respondents had a greater willingness to participate in stormwater management than White, male, and more-educated respondents, and their concern about local stormwater hazards drove their willingness to participate. Our analysis suggests that physical exposure and high vulnerability to stormwater hazards may shape an individual's concern about and willingness to participate in stormwater management.
To describe the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) competency level in Primary Care (PC) nurses in Spain and to determine the associated factors.
Cross-sectional, national survey design, carried out between January and March 2020.
PC in Spain.
Seven hundred eighty PC active nurses in the National Health Service with at least one year of professional experience.
(1) Sociodemographic, professional and access to scientific information variables; (2) outcome variable EBP competency (attitude, knowledge, skills and utilization) assessed through the EBP-COQ Prof© questionnaire. Bivariate and multiple lineal regression analyses were carried out.
The mean score for the EBP competency of the PC nurses was 131.5 (standard deviation [SD] 17.0), according to dimensions attitude 36.8 (SD 3.6); knowledge 38.2 (SD 8.9); skills 23.0 (SD 3.5); and utilization 33.3 (SD 6.1). The number of articles read in the last month has showed the most influence on all the EBP-COQ Prof© dimensions, followed by EBP training (more than 150h) and nursing students mentoring. The education level (master, specialist and doctorate) is associated with knowledge and skills dimensions, meanwhile belonging to a BPSO® center is associated with the EBP utilization.
These findings can guide PC service managers to plan strategies that improve the EBP competency level of the nurses, aimed mainly at achieving real application in clinical practice. However, it is necessary to consider the possible impact of selection bias on the results.

Most of the conclusions were attained at acidic pH, but rice is also grown at calcareous conditions, which especially induce Fe deficiency in the plants. In this study, we assay the effect of Si in rice suffering both Fe deficiency and sufficiency in hydroponics at two pHs (5.5 and 7.5). Plant biometric parameters, ROS concentration, enzymatic activities, and total phenolic compounds, as well as ploidy levels, have been determined. In general, both pHs promoted similar rice responses under Fe sufficiency and deficiency status, but at pH 7.5, stress was favored. Flow cytometry studies revealed that Fe deficiency increased the percentage of cells in higher ploidy levels. Moreover, under this Fe status, Si addition enhanced this effect. This increase contributed to maintaining chloroplast structure which may have preserved antioxidant activities, and fortified cell walls, diminishing Fe uptake.
