efferent VNS. Using a β2 -adrenergic receptor antagonist (β2 -AR), we find that immune regulation induced by intact, afferent, or efferent VNS occurs in a β2- AR-dependent manner. Together, our findings indicate that intact VNS activates at least two distinct neuroimmune circuits each with unique mechanisms of action. Selective targeting of either the vagal efferent or afferent fibres may provide more personalized, robust and effective control over inappropriate immune responses.Detection of GSR particles potentially indicates that a person fired a gun or somehow involved to a shooting event. GSR on the shooter's hand, face, and clothing may disappear within hours and with sweat secretion, washing or cleaning to remove evidences. Due to its anatomical properties, ears are relatively protected; therefore, we aimed to identify GSR particles on ears, to compare its anatomical parts of ears, and compare ears with common GSR sampling sites, based on firing frequency. A 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun was used. 3-MA cell line In the 4-week study, one shot in the first week, two consecutive shots in second week, three shots in third week, and five shots in fourth week were fired by six participants. Samples were taken from MAE, CA, and AAECA of both ears and common GSR sampling sites. The characteristic 3-component structure (Pb/Sb/Ba) of the samples was analyzed by SEM/EDX. Right CA was the most suitable area for sampling, which might be attributed to posture of body during targeting. Right ear was the most suitable area to take samples from CA or MAE in 3-shot group. Besides, left AAECA in 1- and 2-shot groups and the left MAE in 5-shot group were the most suitable areas for GSR sampling. In conclusion, ear seems to be a valuable alternative for detection of GSR particles, due to its complex anatomical structure potentially preventing loss of GSR with daily cleaning. Findings suggested that crime scene investigation teams and criminal laboratory staff should consider ear as a valuable alternative for GSR detection.Children recognise the social value of imitation but do not opt for tools that are 'normative' if they are also dysfunctional. We investigated whether children would replicate a normative method in a tool-learning task if it was instrumentally functional but less efficient than an alternative. Four- to six-year-old children were presented with a sticker-retrieving task and two equally functional tool options that differed in efficiency. The inefficient tool was highlighted as the normative option. Verbal descriptors that established the normative value of the inefficient tool (e.g., 'everybody' uses this) did not motivate children to use it. The majority of children opted for instrumental efficiency over conformity.POLR3A encodes the largest subunit of the DNA-dependent RNA polymerase III. Pathogenic variants in this gene are associated with dysregulation of tRNA production and other non-coding RNAs. POLR3A-related disorders include variable phenotypes. The genotype-phenotype correlation is still unclear. Phenotypic analysis and exome sequencing were performed in four affected siblings diagnosed clinically with hereditary spastic ataxia, two healthy siblings and their unaffected mother. All four affected siblings (ages 46-55) had similar clinical features of early childhood-onset hypodontia and adolescent-onset progressive spastic ataxia. None had progeria, gonadal dysfunction or dysmorphism. All affected individuals had biallelic POLR3A pathogenic variants composed by two cis-acting intronic splicing-altering variants, c.1909 + 22G > A and c.3337-11 T > C. The two healthy siblings had wild-type alleles. The mother and another unaffected sibling were heterozygous for the allele containing both variants. This is the first report addressing the clinical consequence associated with homozygosity for a unique pathogenic intronic allele in the POLR3A gene. This allele was previously reported in compound heterozygous combinations in patients with Wiedemann-Rautenstrauch syndrome, a severe progeroid POLR3A-associated phenotype. We show that homozygosity for this allele is associated with spastic ataxia with hypodontia, and not with progeroid features. These findings contribute to the characterization of genotype-phenotype correlation in POLR3A-related disorders.Global increase in water scarcity is a serious problem for sustaining crop productivity. The lack of water causes the degeneration of the photosynthetic apparatus, an imbalance in key metabolic pathways, an increase in free radical generation as well as weakens the root architecture of plants. Drought is one of the major stresses that directly interferes with the osmotic status of plant cells. Abscisic acid (ABA) is known to be a key player in the modulation of drought responses in plants and involvement of both ABA-dependent and ABA-independent pathways have been observed during drought. Concomitantly, other phytohormones such as auxins, ethylene, gibberellins, cytokinins, jasmonic acid also confer drought tolerance and a crosstalk between different phytohormones and transcription factors at the molecular level exists. A number of drought-responsive genes and transcription factors have been utilized for producing transgenic plants for improved drought tolerance. Despite relentless efforts, biotechnological advances have failed to design completely stress tolerant plants until now. The root microbiome is the hidden treasure that possesses immense potential to revolutionize the strategies for inducing drought resistance in plants. Root microbiota consist of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, endophytes and mycorrhizas that form a consortium with the roots. Rhizospheric microbes are proliferous producers of phytohormones, mainly auxins, cytokinin, and ethylene as well as enzymes like the 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase (ACC deaminase) and metabolites like exopolysaccharides that help to induce systemic tolerance against drought. This review, therefore focuses on the major mechanisms of plant-microbe interactions under drought-stressed conditions and emphasizes the importance of drought-tolerant microbes for sustaining and improving the productivity of crop plants under stress.
