Objective To evaluate clinical outcomes of telephone-based service for patients on warfarin. Methods Five bibliographic databases and gray literature were searched for articles that reported the effects of telephone interventions provided to patients using warfarin compared with those receiving usual clinic-based care. Mean difference (MD) and relative risk (RR) were used to calculate the effects of telephone intervention on time in therapeutic range (TTR) and visit in range (VIR), respectively. Adverse events (AEs) were pooled and reported as incidence rate ratios. Results A total of 1,840 articles were examined. Eight articles involving 8,087 subjects were included in the quantitative synthesis. The pooled estimates from seven studies showed no difference on TTR between the telephone service group and the usual care group (MD 2.30; 95% confidence interval [CI] -3.56 to 8.16). In addition, VIR in the telephone service group was not different from the usual care group (RR 1.22, 95% CI 0.87-1.71). Moreover, patients in telephone service groups appeared to have a lower incidence of AEs compared with usual care groups. Discussion Telephone-based service could be considered as an alternative anticoagulant management. However, owing to a lack of evidence from well-designed studies, further high-quality randomized control trials are warranted.Objective This study investigated the accuracy of a flash glucose monitoring system (FGMS) in a postprandial setting.Methods Ten fasted adults without diabetes wore the FGMS sensors then consumed a standard breakfast. Their glucose levels were subsequently recorded for 2 hours, both by the FGMS and by measuring capillary glucose levels using the glucose oxidase method. The accuracy of the FGMS data was assessed using the accuracy limits stated in ISO 151972013.Results FGMS measurements were mostly lower than glucose oxidase measurements (mean absolute relative difference ± SD 25.4 ± 17.0%, p  less then  0.001). However, the maximum difference from baseline captured by the two methods was not significantly different (mean ± SD, glucose oxidase 58.5 ± 18.9 mg/dl; FGMS, 54.4 ± 28.9 mg/dl, p = 0.366).Conclusions FGMS could track the incremental glycaemic excursions after meals in adults without diabetes, yet further studies with greater sample sizes are needed to confirm this finding.Objective To assess the body composition and nutritional state of patients with Alzheimer's (Global Deterioration Scale GDS-4) using different methods and to investigate the correlation among methods.Methods A total of 25 Alzheimer GDS-4 patients participated in this transversal descriptive observational study, which used anthropometry, Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), the Nutrition Screening Initiative Check List (NSI) and a 24-hour recall questionnaire (R24h).Results Anthropometric observations pointed to obesity in patients of both sexes. The MNA showed that 76% of the population was "at risk of malnutrition", and the NSI suggested that 32% had a high nutritional risk, 48% had an "average" nutritional risk, and the remaining 20% a low nutritional risk. The Bland-Alman concordance plot between the NSI and MNA tests pointed to a high degree of agreement, meaning that both tests provided similar results for the group of studied subjects. The nutritional analysis, based on the Kruskal-Wallis test, showed there were significant differences between R24h and MNA in the case of ascorbic acid, iron, zinc and potassium (p  less then  0.05), and between R24h and NSI in the case of the double unsaturation index and vitamin D3 (p  less then  0.05). These results suggest that both questionnaires are equally valid for evaluating the nutritional status of Alzheimer patients.Conclusion Although the NSI and MNA tests provide similar results, we recommend an initial nutritional assessment using the NSI since it is short but provides information on any alteration in food intake as a result of restrictions and/or metabolic alterations.N-Nitrosodiethylamine (NNDEA) is a toxic compound which is affranchised into the medium mostly via industrial wastewater. For the investigation of degradation mechanism of NNDEA, the aqueous solutions of NNDEA were exposed to Advanced Oxidation processes (AOP's) such as gamma-irradiation, ozonation, UV irradiation and UV/Ozone (ozone effect) and UV/H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide effect). Since the structure of NNDEA is small, it is rapidly degraded in all processes except UV-irradiation process but forming acetic acid and formic acid just was seen in gamma and UV/H2O2processes. In the other processes, NNDEA is transformed directly to nitrite and nitrate which they can form NNDEA again in the medium. The concentration of NNDEA was decreased from 50 to 21 mg L-1 after 2.20 kGy gamma-irradiation. After 2.85 kGy gamma irradiation, NNDEA was completely removed from the medium. The results showed that the concentration of NNDEA decreased with UV-irradiation time, the concentration of 50 mg L-1 NNDEA was 42, 30, 24 and 19 mg L-1 after 10, 20, 40 and 60 min UV-irradiation, respectively. It has been investigated that the UV-irradiation does not have much effect on the degradation of 50 mg L-1 NNDEA solution and requires long-term irradiation. In this study, gamma-irradiation was chosen as the best method because of the complete degradation effect and the prevention of the reformation of the NNDEA.Cattle fatty liver has caused mass damage in milk production during the past few years. In our study, to identify different miRNAs involved in cell physiological regulation in fatty liver, we performed miRNA deep sequencing on a normal liver cell (S01), fatty liver cell (S02) and processed cell by monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (S03). Floxuridine As a result, a total of 15,277,462, 14,190,360 and 13,771,060 raw reads representing 13,904,074, 12,784,128 and 11,017,604 clean reads per library were obtained separately. Through bioinformatics analysis, a total of 511 known miRNAs were identified when they were aligned with the known animal miRNAs, and 197 novel miRNAs were predicted using mirDeep2 software. A total of 511 miRNAs including 101 known and 51 novel miRNAs were expressed significantly different. Additionally, expression levels of eight randomly selected miRNAs were confirmed using the stem-loop qPCR, and their expression profiles were consistent with the deep sequencing results. For better understanding the functions of miRNAs, a total of 14,231 targets were predicted.
