This study was conducted to determine the reliability, content and construct validity of Mini-Peer Assessment Tool to assess the competency of emergency medicine residents. Methods This study was carried out to investigate the psychometric properties of the mini-PAT tool to evaluate the professional competencies of emergency medicine residents in educational hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The initial Mini-Peer Assessment Tool was translated into Persian. After that, the content validity index and content validity ratio determined by consulting 12 professors of emergency medicine. The construct validity was determined with exploratory factor analysis and investigation of the correlation coefficient on 31 self and 248 peer assessment cases. The reliability of the mini peer assessment tool was determined by internal consistency and item deletiassessing the competencies of emergency medicine residents.Background The main part of hospitals' funding comes from insurance organizations. In some cases, for different reasons such as not filed services or unpaid health insurance bills, a part of these funding cannot be derived from health insurance companies. This study aims to describe different aspects of the hospitals' revenue deficits in Iranian public hospitals. Methods This was a mixed-method study consisting of qualitative and quantitative studies. Qualitative data were collected through 17 semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using the analytical framework by MAXQDA.10. Quantitative data were analyzed by the TOPSIS method and Smart TOPSIS Solver.3.2.0. Results Based on the framework analysis, five sets of the underlying causes of hospital revenue deficits were identified and categorized in 5 themes bottlenecks, direct causes of revenue deficits, root causes of revenue deficits, revenue deficits management strategies, and challenges and barriers to managing revenue deficits. Through inadequate clinical documentation and failed to provide the insurance organization's requirements, the surgical units, operating rooms, and inpatient units were found as the main sources of revenue deficit. Lack of senior management commitment and inconsistency of insurance organizations for evaluating claims are often listed as the major barriers to effective implementation of corrective interventions. Conclusion Revenue deficits occurs in most hospital departments and in all stages of converting services into revenue, and a variety of human and organizational factors contribute to them. Therefore, focusing on the main causes of deductions and the participation of all individuals and departments involved in it is critical to reducing deductions.Background During the COVID-19 pandemic, elderly individuals (with the chronological age of 65 years and above) are more susceptible to the SARS-CoV-2 infection complications due to altered immune system response and the higher rate of underlying comorbidities. A vast majority of mortalities are reported in elderly patients; thus, this study aimed to evaluate complications of COVID-19 in elderly patients. Methods A systematic review was conducted according to MOOSE guidelines. Science Direct, Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed databases were searched for published articles related to COVID-19 in the elderly up to March 26, 2020. Search MeSh terms included "Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2", "2019-nCoV", "SARS-CoV-2", "comorbidity", "elderly", and "geriatrics". Results In total 1360 potentially relevant articles were screened, of which 35 were relevant and their full texts were considered for the review. Organ damages to the pulmonary system, cardiovascular, liver, and renal system are more prevalent in the elderly with SARS-CoV-2 infection. As the chance of multiorgan involvement is more common among elderly patients, preventive, multidisciplinary, and holistic evaluations are essential to reduce disease consequences. Conclusion More attention needs to be paid to elderly individuals in the quarantine. Social contact should be made and maintained through online facilities, media, and phone calls to ensure patients' mental health during this stressful situation. Also, they should be provided with enough food and medications by their families or friends. Methods This descriptive analytical study was performed with combined quantitative-qualitative method in the first half of 2019. The statistical population consisted of 400 health managers and experts who were selected through multistage sampling method in 5 regions of Iran (north, south, center, east, and west). Overall, 20 academic experts were selected from each university. For data collection, a researcher-made questionnaire (n = 400) was used. The present study aimed to generate an interim EQ-5D-5L value set for the context of Iran. Methods The Iranian interim EQ-5D-5L value set was generated using the crosswalk method, which maps EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-5L responses. The EQ-5D-3L value set has previously been estimated by Time Trade-Off (TTO) method. The interim value set obtained for EQ-5D-5L was compared with the value set of EQ-5D-3L by using measures of mean, median, and skewness.The analysis was done using STATA version 15. Results The mean and median scores of the Iranian interim value set were 0.499 and 0.451 for EQ-5D-5L and 0.455 and 0.459 for Iranian EQ-5D-3L, respectively. The range of value for both EQ-5D-3L and interim EQ-5D-5L was -0.113 to 0.919. Data skewness of EQ-5D-3L and interim EQ-5D-5L was-0.099 and -0.114, respectively. In addition, the figure of distribution of value sets for both data sets had a tail extended towards the left.
