These findings may provide important new characters for the discussion on arachnid phylogeny. With its recent inclusion in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, nonsuicidal self-injury disorder (NSSID) has received limited research attention, especially in samples of military veterans. The present study sought to identify diagnostic predictors of NSSID within a veteran sample. Study participants included 124 veterans with at least one psychiatric diagnosis. Chi-square tests and t-tests evaluated bivariate associations between NSSID and twenty diagnostic correlates. Logistic regression models identified psychiatric disorders that were unique correlates of NSSID among veterans. Veterans with lifetime NSSID (n = 59) met criteria for a greater number of lifetime disorders than veterans with other psychiatric disorders. Bivariate associations were noted between NSSID and borderline personality disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and cannabis use disorder. In the logistic regression model, only borderline personality disorder (AOR = 7.67) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (AOR = 3.23) continued to be associated with NSSID. The present study represents the first examination of the association between NSSID and psychiatric disorders among veterans. The findings shed light on psychiatric disorders associated with lifetime NSSID in veterans, with special consideration toward obsessive-compulsive disorder as a risk factor for NSSID.The microstructure, phase, alloying behavior, and oxidation behavior of the CoxCrCuFeMnNi (x = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, named as Co0, Co0.5, Co1.0, Co1.5, and Co0.5, respectively) high entropy alloy powders (HEAPs) prepared by mechanical alloying were studied. selleckchem The results indicated that the HEAPs began to be alloyed after ball milling for 5 h, and the particle size is about 40∼60 μm. After 50 h of milling, the Co0 and Co0.5 HEAPs are composed of metastable FCC and minor BCC solid solution phases, while the other HEAPs consist of single metastable FCC solid solution phase. After vacuum annealing or atmospheric oxidation at 700 °C, the metastable FCC and BCC phases decompose into FCC1 and FCC2 and ρ phases, respectively. The oxidation mass gain of CoxCrCuFeMnNi HEAPs shows a parabolic upward trend. With the increase of Co content, the oxidation rate constant decreases, indicating that the oxidation resistance of the HEAPs decreases with the increase of Co content.
Depression among adolescents is rising globally and is the leading cause of illness and disability among adolescents. While antidepressants and psychotherapy are effective, only about 40% of depressed adolescents receive treatments due to lack of professionals and barriers such as cost and personal obstacles including stigma, lack of motivation, and negative perceptions of treatment. Use of alternative and complementary treatments for depression is growing. One such treatment is mindfulness meditation.
We examined the effects of mindfulness interventions on depression among adolescents and explored the moderator effects of participants, methods, and intervention characteristics.
We searched 17 databases from their inception to April 2019 to identify studies written in English. Search terms included depress* AND mindful* OR meditat* AND adolescen* OR student*; 29 studies met inclusion criteria. Two researchers independently coded data from all primary studies. Discrepancies were discussed with a third rentions on depression in adolescents.
Mindfulness interventions are mildly effective interventions to reduce depressive symptoms among adolescents. Clinicians trained in mindfulness interventions might encourage mindfulness meditation as adjunctive/alternative treatment for adolescents with mild or moderate depressive symptoms as well as for at-risk adolescents to prevent depression. Funding, type of mindfulness interventions, individual counseling, and time to follow up were moderators of the effects of mindfulness interventions on depression in adolescents.
Significant workforce shortages and economic pressures have led to the expanded scope and reintroduction of new roles for second-level nurses in many Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries. Given this, there is a need to understand the emic and etic perspectives of second-level nurses, to ensure collaborative teamwork and safe patient care.
This review aimed to systematically identify, appraise, and synthesize qualitative research evidence on healthcare professionals' perspectives on second-level nursing roles in the healthcare workforce. These findings inform recommendations that would influence the development and implementation of these roles in healthcare organisations.
A systematic review and thematic synthesis of qualitative research was conducted. Six databases were systematically searched and forward and backwards searching completed. Included studies focused on healthcare professionals' perspectives (including views of second-level nurses themselves) on second-level nuhange. Perceptions of second-level nursing roles are primarily influenced by meso (organisational level) factors and micro (individual, behavioural) factors. The synthesis concludes that a cultural shift in valuing the hands-on care provided by second-level nursing is necessary, along with systems-level shift that clarifies the role of second-level nursing within healthcare teams to enhance collaborative practice. Further research should attend to macro-level influences on perceptions of second-level nurses, the work they do, and how this is valued or institutionally embedded. Tweetable abstract Healthcare professionals' perspectives on second-level nursing roles a systematic review and thematic synthesis.
Nursing leadership plays a vital role in shaping outcomes for healthcare organizations, personnel and patients. With much of the leadership workforce set to retire in the near future, identifying factors that positively contribute to the development of leadership in nurses is of utmost importance.
To identify determining factors of nursing leadership, and the effectiveness of interventions to enhance leadership in nurses.
We conducted a systematic review, including a total of nine electronic databases.
Databases included Medline, Academic Search Premier, Embase, PsychInfo, Sociological Abstracts, ABI, CINAHL, ERIC, and Cochrane.
Studies were included if they quantitatively examined factors contributing to nursing leadership or educational interventions implemented with the intention of developing leadership practices in nurses. Two research team members independently reviewed each article to determine inclusion. All included studies underwent quality assessment, data extraction and content analysis.
