Decreased PD-1 mRNA expression in tumor tissue was associated with poor overall survival (OS). PD-1 mRNA expression in PB of BC patients was higher than that of healthy volunteers, and increased PD-1 mRNA expression in PB was associated with poor OS. FCM revealed that PD-1 was mostly expressed on T cells in PB, predominantly in CD4+ T cells. MM3122 PD-1 mRNA expression in PB was negatively correlated with PD-1 mRNA expression in tumor tissue. CONCLUSION High expression of PD-1 mRNA in preoperative PB could serve as an effective biomarker that indicates poor prognosis in BC.BACKGROUND Tumors invading the inferior vena cava (IVC) and hepatic veins pose a challenge for surgeons. Hannoun et al.1 were able to show that the resection of these tumors can be done under hypothermia in the Ante-Situm position. Additionally, not only the localization of the tumor but the remaining volume of the remnant liver (FLR) needs to be considered. Schnitzbauer et al.2 were able to induce massive liver hypertrophy in a short period, combining an in-situ split with a portal vein ligation (ALPPS). As this controversial technique has evolved, a safe ALPPS can be performed nowadays.3 To our knowledge, this is the first case that combines a laparoscopic partial ALPPS with an extended resection requiring cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). METHODS A 58-year-old female presented with a known chronic hepatitis C suffered from a pulmonary embolism, caused by a large, central hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with invasion of the suprahepatic IVC and continuous growth into the right atrium (RA). Due to the small FLR, l basis. The present study aimed to estimate the effects of high-protein diet (PD)-isolated whey protein and omega-3 fatty acids-docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acid on oxidative parameters of rats treated with Olanzapine (OLZ). Experiments were carried out on 8-week-old Wistar albino male rats (n = 64) weighing 200 ± 20 g. By dietary and pharmacological treatment, all animals were divided into 8 groups 1. CTRL group; 2. CTRL + OLZ group; 3. CTRL + FA group; 4. CTRL + OLZ + FA group; 5. PD group; 6. PD + OLZ group; 7. PD + FA group; 8. PD + OLZ + FA group. After 6 weeks of pharmacological/diet treatment, all animals were sacrificed to collect blood samples and determine the biomarkers of oxidative stress. The following oxidative stress markers were measured spectrophotometrically superoxide anion radical (O2-), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), nitric oxide (NO-), index of lipid peroxidation measured as TBARS, reduced glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase. The study has shown that Olanzapine treatment was associated with increased release of pro-oxidants and diminished activity of anti-oxidant markers. Additional supplementation with PD and FA succeeded in abolishing the negative influence in most of the measured parameters. However, these beneficial impacts were stronger in the case of their separate application, which could be the practical and clinical importance of these results. Many pollinator species are declining due to a variety of interacting stressors including pathogens, sparking interest in understanding factors that could mitigate these outcomes. Diet can affect host-pathogen interactions by changing nutritional reserves or providing bioactive secondary chemicals. Recent work found that sunflower pollen (Helianthus annuus) dramatically reduced cell counts of the gut pathogen Crithidia bombi in bumble bee workers (Bombus impatiens), but the mechanism underlying this effect is unknown. Here we analyzed methanolic extracts of sunflower pollen by LC-MS and identified triscoumaroyl spermidines as the major secondary metabolite components, along with a flavonoid quercetin-3-O-hexoside and a quercetin-3-O-(6-O-malonyl)-hexoside. We then tested the effect of triscoumaroyl spermidine and rutin (as a proxy for quercetin glycosides) on Crithidia infection in B. impatiens, compared to buckwheat pollen (Fagopyrum esculentum) as a negative control and sunflower pollen as a positive control. In addition, we tested the effect of nine fatty acids from sunflower pollen individually and in combination using similar methods. Although sunflower pollen consistently reduced Crithidia relative to control pollen, none of the compounds we tested had significant effects. In addition, diet treatments did not affect mortality, or sucrose or pollen consumption. Thus, the mechanisms underlying the medicinal effect of sunflower are still unknown; future work could use bioactivity-guided fractionation to more efficiently target compounds of interest, and explore non-chemical mechanisms. Ultimately, identifying the mechanism underlying the effect of sunflower pollen on pathogens will open up new avenues for managing bee health.2-Naphthol or β-naphthol is an important starting material that has drawn great attention in various organic transformations because of its attributes, such as low cost, easy to handle and eco-friendliness. The electron-rich aromatic framework of 2-naphthol with multiple reactive sites allows it to be utilized in several kinds of organic reactions eventuated to several organic molecules with potent biological properties. Multicomponent reaction approach has been tremendously utilized to explore the synthetic utility of 2-naphthol for the construction of diverse N/O-containing heterocyclic framework. In this review, we summarize recent data pertaining to multicomponent reactions, wherein heterocyclic compounds are synthesized utilizing 2-naphthol as one of the starting materials. It is anticipated that this review will stimulate the researchers to design new multicomponent strategies complying with the Green Chemistry principles for the further exploitation of 2-naphthol for the rapid synthesis of versatile biologically relevant heterocycles. This review provides a concise overview of the different 2-naphthol based multicomponent reactions utilized for the construction of diverse bioactive heterocyclic scaffold. We aimed to evaluate the functions of long non-coding RNA taurine upregulated gene 1 (lncRNA TUG1) in renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury and identify the potential mechanisms. Pathological changes of renal tissues were examined using H&E staining after mimic renal I/R injury in vivo. The contents of serum renal functional parameters and inflammatory factors were measured. The expression of TUG1 and miR-449b-5p in renal tissues and HK-2 cells stimulated by I/R were detected. Then, the effects of TUG1 silencing on inflammation and apoptosis of cells were evaluated. Dual luciferase reporter assays were executed for determining the correlation between miR-449b-5p and TUG1, high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), or matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2). Subsequently, cells were co-transfected with miR-449b-5p mimic and pcDNA3.1 TUG1. The levels of inflammation, apoptosis, and the expression of HMGB1 and MMP2 were detected. The results revealed that renal tissues were obviously damaged after I/R accompanied by changes in renal functional markers and inflammatory factors.
