However, homogeneity in seed traits is generally assumed, underestimating intraspecific trait variability across the geographic space, which might bias species success models. The aim of this study was to evaluate the existence and consequences of interpopulation variability in seed traits of the invasive species Carpobrotus edulis at different geographical scales. We measured seed production, morphology, vigour and longevity of nine populations of C. edulis along the Catalan coast (NE Spain) from three differentiated zones with a human presence gradient. Geographic distances between populations were contrasted against individual and multivariate trait distances to explore trait variation along the territory, evaluating the role of bioclimatic variables and human density of the different zones. The analysis revealed high interpopulation variability that was not explained by geographic distance, as regardless of the little distance between some populations ( less then  0.5 km), significant differences were found in several seed traits. CAY10444 nmr Seed production, germination, and persistence traits showed the strongest spatial variability up to 6000% of percent trait variability between populations, leading to differentiated C. edulis soil seed bank dynamics at small distances, which may demand differentiated strategies for a cost-effective species management. Seed trait variability was influenced by human density but also bioclimatic conditions, suggesting a potential impact of increased anthropogenic pressure and climate shifts. Although emotion processing is accepted as being lateralized, the specific role of each hemisphere remains an issue of controversy, and two major hypotheses have been proposed. In the right-hemispheric dominance hypothesis, all emotions are thought to be processed in the right hemisphere, independent of their valence or of the emotional feeling being processed. In the valence lateralization hypothesis, the left is thought to be dominant for the processing of positively valenced stimuli, or of stimuli inducing approach behaviors, whereas negatively valenced stimuli, or stimuli inducing withdrawal behaviors, would be processed in the right hemisphere. More recent research points at the existence of multiple interrelated networks, each associated with the processing of a specific component of emotion generation, i.e., its generation, perception, and regulation. It has thus been proposed to move from hypotheses supporting an overall hemispheric specialization for emotion processing toward dynamic models incorporating multiple interrelated networks which do not necessarily share the same lateralization patterns.Pneumonia remains the leading cause of death globally in children under the age of five. The poorest children are the ones most at risk of dying. In the recent years, lung ultrasound has been widely documented as a safe and easy tool for the diagnosis and monitoring of pneumonia and several other respiratory infections and diseases. During the pandemic, it played a primary role to achieve early suspicion and prediction of severe COVID-19, reducing the risk of exposure of healthcare workers to positive patients. However, innovations that can improve diagnosis and treatment allocation, saving hundreds of thousands of lives each year, are not reaching those who need them most. In this paper, we discuss advantages and limits of different tools for the diagnosis of pneumonia in low- to middle-income countries, highlighting potential benefits of a wider access to lung ultrasound in these settings and barriers to its implementation, calling international organizations to ensure the indiscriminate access, quality, antion, calling international organizations to ensure the indiscriminate access, quality, and sustainability of the provision of ultrasound services in every setting.Breastfeeding, use of pasteurised donor human milk when mother's own milk is unavailable and kangaroo mother care have independently proven benefits in improving survival of vulnerable sick babies. A triangulated approach called the Mother Baby Friendly Initiative Plus (MBFI+) model, bringing together the combined benefits of these proven interventions, was used to improve exclusive human milk feeding at health facilities through quality improvement and system strengthening approach. This quality improvement before-and-after uncontrolled study enrolled 5343 term and 278 very low birth weight (VLBW) mother-infant dyads. Pre- and post-intervention data were compared to evaluate effect on feeding-related healthcare processes and outcomes. Primary outcome which was incidence of exclusive human milk feeding during hospital stay, improved from 44 to 64.8% (RR 1.47, 95% CI 1.40-1.55) among term and from 60.5 to 80.7% (RR 1.33; 95% CI 1.12-1.59) among VLBW neonates. Neonates receiving extended KMC improved from 43 to 71.1% (RR 1.65; 95% CI 1.30-2.10).Conclusion MBFI+ approach improved exclusive human milk feeding among term and preterm VLBW neonates. What is Known • Breastfeeding has immense health benefits to sick preterm neonates admitted in NICU. What is New • Quality improvement approach can lead to system strengthening and can help overcome hindrances to achieve increased breastfeeding rates.
