To clarify the utility of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) for interim evaluation of response to chemotherapy in lymphoma treatment.
CEUS was performed both before (day 0) and after the treatment (7 and/or 14 days), and a time-intensity curve was obtained. The patients were divided into two groups (complete remission [CR] group and non-CR group) according to the results of conventional response evaluation, and peak enhancement (PE), time to peak enhancement, perfusion index (PI), the total area under the curve during wash-in (AUC-in), and the total AUC were compared between the groups.
Among 27 patients with various types of lymphoma, the median change ratio of PE and PI at day 7 evaluation were significantly different between the CR group and the non-CR group (0.81 versus 1.39, p=0.017 for PE and 0.92 versus 2.09, p=0.010 for PI). The change ratio of PE<1.09 (specificity 86%; sensitivity, 88%) and PI<1.65 (specificity 86%; sensitivity 94%) distinguished CR from non-CR. Patients who achieved a PE change ratio <1.09 or a PI change ratio <1.65 had significantly better estimated progression-free survival (p<0.001).
The present study demonstrated that changes in tumour perfusion parameters evaluated with CEUS at 1 week after the treatment initiation were significantly different between lymphoma patients in CR group and non-CR group. Alterations in perfusion parameters evaluated via CEUS could impact the prognosis of lymphoma patients.

To review the removal of Y-shaped airway self-expanding covered metallic stents using the interventional technique under fluoroscopy.
The clinical data of 33 patients who underwent removal of Y-shaped airway self-expanding covered metallic stents from March 2011 to August 2019 were analysed retrospectively.
A total of 35 Y-shaped stents were removed. The average indwelling duration of the tracheal stents was 101.7±105.4 days. Four cases were removed via the conventional method (grasping the upper tip of the stent to collapse and adduct the proximal end of the stent), whereas 31 cases were removed using the reversal method (grasping the distal end of the stent to invert and strip out the stent). The duration of stent removal was 24.3±12.4 minutes (median time, 20 minutes).
The interventional radiology technique is a feasible, safe, and effective method for removing Y-shaped airway self-expanding covered metallic stents, and can be considered for use in the clinical setting.

15 articles made the inclusion criteria. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles of depressed people were distinguishable from nondepressed people shown by social media markers. Facebook studies showed that having fewer Facebook friends and mutual friends, posting frequently, and using fewer location tags positively correlated with depressive symptoms. Also, Facebook posts with explicit expression of depressive symptoms, use of personal pronouns, and words related to pain, depressive symptoms, aggressive emotions, and rumination predicted depression. Kirschner wires (K-wires) have been shown to effectively stabilize fractures of the hand and wrist, but are associated with high infection rates, which may limit its use. Previous literature has attributed the risk of infection to many different aspects of a fixation technique. However, we introduce an approach to percutaneous K-wire pinning to mitigate the risk of infection.
Patients undergoing K-wire fixation procedures of the hand and wrist were retrospectively queried. All cases were performed under the same principles of our technique. None of the K-wires were buried, nor bent and were covered with betadine-soaked alcohol pads as pin site dressings. Pins were removed in an outpatient procedure room up to 12 weeks postoperatively and were then assessed for signs of superficial or deep infection.
90 patients were included in this study across a variety of K-wire fixation operations in the hand and wrist. No patients presented with any signs of infection or other complications necessitating postoperatinciples of our technique allow for K-wire fixations to be performed percutaneously without burying the wires. This may allow for improved cost and time efficiency, without compromising patient safety.
Open tibia fractures are a common injury following road traffic collisions and place a large economic burden on patients and healthcare systems. Summarising their economic burden is key to inform policy and help prioritise treatment.
All studies were identified from a systematic search of Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. We included any human with a diagnosed open tibia fracture, following any intervention. The primary outcome was any costs reported or patient return to work status. Secondary outcomes included average length of stay, wage loss, absenteeism and complications such as infection, amputation and nonunion. Data was extracted and we performed a descriptive narrative summary.
We reviewed 1,204 studies from our searches. A total of 34 studies were included from 14 different countries. The average age was 37.7 years old and 76% of the patients were male. 6.5% were Gustilo I, 12% Gustilo II and 82% Gustilo III.
