The aim of this article is to analyze and evaluate the condition of mixed municipal waste management and the selectively collected waste in all counties (LAU 1) in Poland. The authors chose six fractions of selectively collected waste. The theory of the concentration of spatial phenomena was selected for the evaluation. The analytical part was based on the concentration coefficient (CC) and the location quotient (LQ). The created maps of the correctness of waste management allow for formulating corrective actions for the analyzed counties. The fractions of selective waste, whose management is balanced to the greatest extent on the national scale, are those for which the value of LQs is on a similar level-glass, biodegradable waste and bulky waste. However, in the case of paper and cardboard, plastic and waste electrical and electronic equipment fractions, vast disproportions in waste management were noted. The proposed methodology can be an effective tool of constant monitoring and for planning the process of waste management on a local, regional and national scale.Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women; it poses a serious threat to women's health. Deep learning technology has made significant progress in data extraction and analysis for medical images in recent years. Therefore, the use of deep learning for breast ultrasonic imaging in clinical practice is extremely important, as it saves time, reduces radiologist fatigue, and compensates for a lack of experience and skills in some cases. This review article discusses the basic technical knowledge and algorithms of deep learning for breast ultrasound and the application of deep learning technology in image classification, object detection, segmentation, and image synthesis. Finally, we discuss the current issues and future perspectives of deep learning technology in breast ultrasound.Following its first detection in North Italy in 2012, H. halys has become a serious threat in many crops, including hazelnut. The present study aimed at investigating dispersal capacity and behavior in relation to host plants of overwintered adults of H. halys before the colonization of hazelnut crop. Research was carried out in four polyculture areas (from 14 to 50 ha) in north-western Italy in 2018, by using (i) pheromone-baited traps, (ii) visual inspection and beating sheet sampling, and (iii) immunomarking-capture technique. JBJ09063 The relative abundance of H. halys was similar between and within the study areas, and the early attractiveness of lures to adults after overwintering was confirmed; the host plants near a pheromone trap (less than 5 m) hosted higher numbers of H. halys than the same plant species far away. By immunomarking-capture technique, H. halys showed both short- and long-range dispersal from overwintering sites and/or early host plants to wild and crop plants. Marked adults were found in all zones of each area, irrespective of the distance from the protein treatment. Therefore, H. halys movement patterns depend on the ecosystem features, and plant host distribution and availability. This knowledge together with the interaction between pheromone and early host plants might contribute to the management of post-overwintering adults.Polydopamine (PDA) is a new biocompatible material, which has prospects in biomedical and sensor applications. Due to functional groups, it can host wide range of biomolecules. ZnO nanostructures are well known templates for optical sensors and biosensors. The combination of ZnO and PDA results in a change of optical properties of ZnO-PDA composites as a shift of photoluminescence (PL) peaks and PL quenching. However, to date, the effect of the PDA layer on fundamental properties of ZnO-PDA nanostructures has not been studied. The presented paper reports on optical and surface properties of novel ZnO-PDA nanocomposites. PDA layers were chemically synthesized on ZnO nanostructures from different solution concentrations of 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.7 mg/mL. Structure, electronic and optical properties were studied by SEM, Raman, FTIR, diffuse reflectance and photoluminescence methods. The Z-potential of the samples was evaluated in neutral pH (pH = 7.2). The response of the samples towards poly-l-lysine adsorption, as a model molecule, was studied by PL spectroscopy to evaluate the correlation between optical and surface properties. The role of the PDA concentration on fundamental properties was discussed.Snakebite envenomation (SBE) is a high-priority, neglected tropical disease. This devastating occupational health hazard disproportionately affects rural farming communities in tropical countries. This is exacerbated by the distribution and densities of venomous snakes, incidence of encounters, and limited access to advanced healthcare, including antivenom. Before the development of antivenom, desperation and spiritual beliefs led patients to experiment with a wide range of traditional treatments. Many of these treatments still survive today, particularly in regions where access to healthcare is limited. Plants are a major source of bioactive molecules, including several lifesaving medications that are widely used to this day. However, much of the research into the use of traditional plant treatments for SBE are limited to preliminary analysis or have focused on techniques used to confirm antibody efficacy that are not suitable for non-antibody-containing treatments. Modern drugs are developed through a robust pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process, which applies as much to SBE as it does to any other disease.
