Halogen bonding, the non-covalent interaction of Lewis bases with an electron-deficient region of halogen substituents, received increased attention recently. Consequently, the design and evaluation of numerous halogen-containing species as halogen bond donors have been subject to intense research. More recently, organoiodine compounds at the iodine(III) state have been receiving growing attention in the field. Due to their electronic and structural properties, they provide access to unique binding modes. For this reason, our groups have been involved in the development of such compounds, in the quantification of their halogen bonding strength (through the evaluation of their Lewis acidities), as well as in the evaluation of their activities as catalysts in several model reactions. This account will describe these contributions.Understanding health workforce profiles is important for planning. This study aimed to explore the experiences and influences on graduate dietitians transitioning to employment. A mixed-methods case-study design was used. Graduates of Griffith University Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics 2017-2019 cohorts (n = 150) were invited to participate. Purpose-developed surveys were administered prior to graduation and six-months later to examine employment outcomes. Telephone interviews were conducted with participants in the 2017 cohort using a semi-structured protocol and thematically analyzed to further explore key issues arising from the survey results. Qualitative data were synthesized using triangulation of open survey items and interview responses. Baseline data were provided by 137 graduates (91%), with 110 (80%) completing the six-month survey. At six-months, 84 of the 98 (85%) respondents seeking employment reported being employed as a dietitian (private practice, n = 46; hospital, n = 26), 39 of whom were working full-time. Key themes included the importance of networking to gain employment, willingness to relocate to rural areas, the need to persevere, and the need for supported career development. These findings can be used to inform dietetic education and workforce preparation.Adsorptive separation is an appealing technology for propylene and propane separation; however, the challenge lies in the design of efficient adsorbents which can distinguish the two molecules having very similar properties. Here we report a kinetically amplified separation by creating wiggling mesopores in structurally robust carbon monoliths. The wiggling mesopores with alternating wide and narrow segments afford a surface area of 413 m2 g-1 and a tri-modal pore size distribution centered at 1.5, 4.2 and 6.6 nm, respectively. The synergistically kinetic and equilibrium effects were observed and quantitatively assessed, which together ensured a remarkable propylene/propane selectivity up to 39. This selectivity outperformed not only the available carbon adsorbents but also highly competitive among the dominated crystalline porous adsorbents. In addition, the wiggling mesoporous carbon adsorbent showed excellent dynamical separation stability, which ensured its great potential in practical molecular separations.Converting CO2 into useful resources by electrocatalysis and photocatalysis is a promising strategy for recycling of the gas and electrification of industries. Numerous studies have shown that multinuclear metal catalysts have higher selectivity and catalytic activity than monometallic catalysts due to the synergistic effects between the metal sites. In this review, we summarize some of the recent progress on the electrocatalytic and photocatalytic reduction of CO2 by earth-abundant bimetallic molecular catalysts. In this study, the effect of coated hydrogel layer on characteristics of the whole gelatin/silver nanoparticles multi-coated polycaprolactone membrane (PCLGelAg) was investigated through systematic and typical wound dressing characterizations to select the optimal number of layers for practical applications. Scanning electron microscopy, free swell absorptive capacity and tensile test in both wet and dry conditions were conducted to characterize all fabricated membranes of six coating times. In vitro cytotoxicity and agar diffusion evaluation were also carried out to assess the biocompatibility and antibacterial activity of the membranes. The findings illustrated that as the coated layers increase, the absorptive capacity, and degradation rate were higher, the membranes were stiffer in dry state while the tensile strength in wet state, elongation, and cell viability were significantly decreased. PCLGelAg3 was chosen to be the best fit for wound healing since it maintained quite sufficient maximum buffer uptake, elasticity, cell viability along with inducing abnormalities in bacterial morphology and preventing biofilm formation. We report the first enantioselective addition of pyrazoles to 1,3-dienes. Secondary and tertiary allylic pyrazoles can be generated with excellent regioselectivity. Mechanistic studies support a pathway distinct from previous hydroaminations a Pd0 -catalyzed ligand-to-ligand hydrogen transfer (LLHT). This hydroamination tolerates a range of functional groups and advances the field of diene hydrofunctionalization.Levodopa (L-Dopa) is the "gold-standard" medication for symptomatic therapy of Parkinson disease (PD). However, L-Dopa long-term use is associated with the development of motor and non-motor complications, primarily due to its fluctuating plasma levels in combination with the disease progression. click here Herein, we present the first example of individualized therapeutic drug monitoring for subjects upon intake of standard L-Dopa oral pill, centered on dynamic tracking of the drug concentration in naturally secreted fingertip sweat. The touch-based non-invasive detection method relies on instantaneous collection of fingertip sweat on a highly permeable hydrogel that transports the sweat to a biocatalytic tyrosinase-modified electrode, where sweat L-Dopa is measured by reduction of the dopaquinone enzymatic product. Personalized dose-response relationship is demonstrated within a group of human subjects, along with close pharmacokinetic correlation between the finger touch-based fingertip sweat and capillary blood samples.
