In order to predict the impact sensitivity of high explosives, we designed and evaluated several models based on the trigger linkage hypothesis and the Arrhenius equation. To this effect, we calculated the heat of detonation, temperature of detonation, and bond dissociation energy for 70 energetic molecules. The bond dissociation energy divided by the temperature of detonation proved to be a good predictor of the impact sensitivity of nitroaromatics, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.81. A separate Bayesian analysis gave similar results, taking model complexity into account. For nitramines, there was no relationship between the impact sensitivity and the bond dissociation energy. None of the models studied gave good predictions for the impact sensitivity of liquid nitrate esters. For solid nitrate esters, the bond dissociation energy divided by the temperature of detonation showed promising results (R2 = 0.85), but since this regression was based on only a few data points, it was discredited when model complexity was accounted for by our Bayesian analysis. Since the temperature of detonation correlated with the impact sensitivity for nitroaromatics, nitramines, and nitrate esters, we consider it to be one of the leading predictive factors of impact sensitivity for energetic materials.Sodium (Na)-ion batteries (NIBs) and potassium (K)-ion batteries (KIBs) have grabbed great attention because they are cheaper, more abundant in earth, and safer alternatives of lithium-ion batteries. However, the lack of anode materials for NIBs/KIBs with good performance has been the main obstacle. In this paper, we studied monolayer MnC by carrying out calculations on the basis of first principle study to see if it can be a potential anode material for NIBs and KIBs. Calculation results show that monolayer MnC processes good negative adsorption energies of - 2.83 eV for Na and - 2.16 eV for K. Moreover, MnC has comparable theoretical capacities for Na and K of 475 mAh/g and 253 mAh/g, respectively. Our calculation results manifest that the MnC can be a promising anode material for NIBs. METHODS A total of 205 asymptomatic subjects older than 18 years were recruited between April 2017 and September 2019. A full-spine, standing X-ray was collected for each subject. The following parameters were documented the IP, the apices of thoracic kyphosis (TKA) and lumbar lordosis (LLA), the distance between the plumb line of the thoracic apex (TAPL) or lumbar apex (LAPL) and gravity plumb line, thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis (LL) and the upper arc and the lower arc of lumbar lordosis (LLUA and LLLA, respectively). The correlations between the IP and the above parameters and between the thoracic and lumbar parameters were analysed. The level of significance was P less then 0.05. RESULTS The IP was statistically correlated with age (rs = 0.327), the TKA (rs = 0.639), the TAPL (rs = 0.338), TK (rs = 0.391), the LLA (rs = 0.545), the LAPL (rs = - 0.383), the LLUA (rs = 0.371) and the LLLA (rs = - 0.145) but was not linked with LL (rs = 0.118). In addition, there were relationships between the TKA and LLA (rs = 0.397), the TAPL and LAPL (rs = - 0.357), TK and LL (rs = 0.529), TK and the LLUA (rs = 0.742) and TK and the LLLA (rs = 0.148). CONCLUSION The IP was significantly related to spinal sagittal alignment in asymptomatic adults. Moreover, predictive formulae for sagittal parameters as a function of the IP were developed, which are helpful for surgeons in comprehending the regulatory mechanisms of spinal sagittal alignment and designing an ideal therapeutic plan. One advantage of QCT is that it allows site-specific volumetric BMD (vBMD) measurements in a small region. In this study, we utilized site-specific, endplate vBMD (EP-vBMD) as a potential predictive marker of severe cage subsidence in standalone lateral lumbar interbody fusion (SA-LLIF) patients and conducted a retrospective comparative study between EP-vBMD and trabecular vBMDs (Tb-vBMD) in the vertebrae. METHODS Patients undergoing SA-LLIF from 2007 to 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. EP-vBMD was defined as the average of the upper and lower endplate volumetric BMDs measured in cortical and trabecular bone included in a 5-mm area of interest beneath the cage contact surfaces. We compared Tb-vBMDs and EP-vBMDs between disk levels that had severe cage subsidence and levels with no severe subsidence. RESULTS Both EP-vBMD and Tb-vBMD could be measured in 210 levels of 96 patients. Severe cage subsidence was observed in 58 levels in 38 patients. Median (IQR) Tb-vBMD was 120.5 mg/cm3 (100.8-153.7) in the non-severe subsidence group and 117.9 mg/cm3 (90.6-149.5) in the severe subsidence group (p = 0.393), whereas EP-vBMD was significantly lower in the severe subsidence group than the non-severe subsidence group (non-severe subsidence 257.4 mg/cm3 (216.3-299.4), severe subsidence 233.5 mg/cm3 (193.4-273.3), p = 0.026). CONCLUSION We introduced a novel site-specific vBMD measurement for cage subsidence risk assessment. Our results showed that EP-vBMD was a reproducible measurement and appeared more predictive for severe cage subsidence after SA-LLIF than Tb-vBMD. High PI is related to lumbar spondylolisthesis, but associations of PI with lumbar osteophyte formation and disc degeneration are unclear. The objective was to evaluate relationships of PI with lumbar osteophyte formation and disc degeneration, as well as spinal sagittal alignment and geriatric diseases, in middle-aged and elderly people. METHODS A total of 1002 volunteers (male 434, female 568, average age 63.5) were prospectively examined for lumbar osteophyte formation (Nathan class ≥ 2) and disc degeneration (disc score ≥ 3). High (PI > 51, n = 501) and low (PI ≤ 51, n = 501) PI groups were defined. Clinical factors, frailty, sarcopenia, and physical quality of life (QOL) were compared between these groups, and risk factors for lumbar osteophyte formation and disc degeneration were identified in multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Physical QOL was poorer in people with lumbar osteophyte formation (54.
