How to Get a Driving License in Poland
Many foreigners living in Poland have to switch their home country's driving license in order to obtain an Polish one. This is especially applicable to those who have resided in Poland for more than 185 consecutive days (documented with an address registration for local addresses or visa, or a residence permit).
To accomplish this, they have to pass several tests and exams. The most important are:
Medical Examination
Getting a driver's license in Poland is a challenging task, particularly for expats. The process begins with a medical examination to ensure that you are physically fit to drive. Then you need to pass a written theory exam to prove your understanding of Polish road rules and safety rules. In addition, you'll need to complete a set of practical driving lessons with a qualified instructor to demonstrate your ability to safely operate the vehicle on Polish roads.
Depending on where you are from, the process can take up to 6 months or an entire year or more. If you're a citizen of the EU or a member of the Vienna Convention, then your driver's license from your country will be accepted in Poland without the need to exchange it. For those who are citizens of countries that are not included in the Vienna Convention, an International Driving Permit is recommended.
However, even if are from one of these countries, you'll need to obtain a PKK (Profile Kandydata Na Kierowce Driver Candidate Profile) and undergo an examination for medical reasons. You will also need to bring the translation of your driver's licence into Polish, a copy of your passport and an original visa or proof of residency.
Once you have completed all steps, you will receive an appointment date for your driving test at the local road traffic centre (osrodek ruchu drogowego). The test is conducted using an automated system and will comprise multiple choice questions on traffic laws such as road signs, safety regulations. The practical test is administered by a licensed driver. You must demonstrate your ability to drive a vehicle such as changing gears, driving around corners and parking.
At present, drivers employed by ridesharing firms like Uber or Bolt are not required to hold an Polish driving license, however as of June 2017 the situation will change. New laws will force drivers to have a valid Polish driving license or face insurance issues. Drivers who reside outside of the Eurozone must also get an Polish license within 185 days of settling in Poland or risk having their licenses exchanged.
Theory Exam
If you hold a driving license issued by a country that is a party to the Road Traffic Convention, you can exchange it for an Polish licence after 185 days of legal residence, provided that your residency is confirmed by local address registration (Zameldowanie) or a residence card, visa or other document that confirms your right to reside. However, you will still have to pass the theoretical part of the national exam regardless of whether your foreign license is accompanied by an International Driving Permit.
The theory exam is a multi-part test consisting of a written part and a practical part. Even the Polish aren't able to pass it, and many fail their first or second attempts despite a lot of study. There are several firms that promise preparation for the exam, but beware of scams - they could take your money and never provide the training you need.
To schedule your theory exam you must visit your nearest WORD (Wojewodzki Osrodek Ruchu Drogowego). When you register, you'll need a passport and your profile as a driver candidate (PKK). The cost for the theoretical portion of the test is 30 PLN.
After passing the theory test, you need to register at your district authority (osdzie). (drogowy) (drogowy) for a practical test. The process typically lasts a few weeks especially in large cities. You'll need your PKK passport, passport and a document confirming that you have the right to stay in Poland (Zameldowanie).
After the practical test has been passed, you can obtain your driving licence in a few days. To obtain your licence, you'll need to present the same documents you used to register your PKK and a proof of passing from the driving school. Driving in Poland is a lot of fun, but it is also a responsibility. To drive safely it is essential to follow all road rules, including wearing a seat belt, following traffic signals, and adhering to speed limits. If you don't you will be reprimanded by the police. It is important to know the Polish driving manners.
Practical Exam
You must first enroll in a driving academy and complete a series of practical lessons before you can sit for your practical test. You can find a driving school in your area by searching online or asking your friends for recommendations. The course lasts for a few weeks and is extremely affordable. In the course, you will learn to drive a vehicle and will be tested in driving theory.
The final step to obtain an Polish driving license is the state exam. The test is held at the Province Road Traffic Centers. The test consists of two parts: theory and practice. The theory portion is available in several languages, making it simpler for non-Polish speakers to study. When you take the state exam you'll have to demonstrate your driving skills and understanding.
führerschein polen preis 'll also need to complete a first aid and an eye test. Based on the type of license you're seeking, you may need to take additional oral or written examinations.
You must provide your birth certificate as well as proof of identity when applying for the Polish driving license. If you are younger than 18, you will need an official written consent from your legal guardian or parent. If you are a non-native citizen, you must provide an image of your residence card or visa as well as a document confirming your legal residence in Poland like an official certificate of study or visa stamp.
You can apply for your Polish driving license at the local Voivodeship Office once you have met all the requirements and passed the examinations. Be sure to bring your international driving license if you have one, along with all the required documents listed above. After you've submitted all required documents, your driving permit will be issued in two weeks. The license will be valid for 15 years for drivers less than 70 and three years for those who are over 70. Having a driving license will make it easier for you to get around Poland and discover all it has to offer.
Registration
Like many countries in Europe, the rules of the roads in Poland are generally clear. Seatbelts are required and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited and speed limits are rigorously enforced. There are certain requirements that must be met by foreign drivers. For instance, foreigners wishing to get their driving license in Poland must take a medical exam and practical lessons before they can sit for the state exam.
The process isn't without difficulties, particularly for those who don't speak in Polish. However, there are solutions such as driving classes provided by a variety of language schools or private tutors that offer individualized instruction and help students prepare for the licensing exam. There are numerous online resources to help students understand Polish road signs, driving etiquette and other aspects of driving.
Foreigners must have all of the necessary documents required to apply for an driver's license. This includes a completed application form (which can be downloaded, but must be completed by hand in Polish which means that Google Translate is your best option), a medical certificate proving that the applicant is healthy enough to drive, and one current photo that is in compliance with dimensions and format requirements.
If a candidate wishes to obtain a license for categories C or D, they must pass an oral and written exam that covers the types of vehicles and safety regulations. To be able to deal with road accidents, the driver must also attend a course on first aid.
If you have an international driving permit or a foreign driving license, there's good news: they'll be able to use it in Poland for 185 days after the date they have legal residency. Starting in June the policy will change. Drivers who work for ridesharing services like Bolt or Uber are now required to exchange their foreign driving license for the Polish license.
The new law was introduced to improve safety for passengers and prevent the transport of passengers on vehicles operated by drivers who don't meet the necessary requirements. It has already been criticized by riders and politicians who believe that it will result in longer wait periods for drivers and higher prices.
