20 Things Only The Most Devoted EU Driving License Poland Costs Fans Understand
How Much Does an EU Driving License Cost?

Everyone wants to have an ideal driving license, that will never expire. However, the reality is very different.

The process for obtaining a Polish driver's license is complicated. The most important ones are medical examinations as well as theory and practical instruction. It is also important to meet the age requirements for the category of driving license.

1. Medical examination

To obtain a driving license, you must first obtain the doctor's (orzeczenie Lkarskie) confirmation that you're fit to drive. It might sound strange, but this is the way it works in Poland. The doctor will ask a bunch silly questions about your health like if you are having problems with your vision or any other medical issues. They won't examine you physically. The cost for this test is about 200 PLN.

If you're coming from a country which is part of the EU, EEA, or a member of 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic there is no need to take this extra step since your driving licence will be recognized as valid in Poland. If you are coming from a country that is not a member you must pass both a theoretical and a practical test, and also a medical exam to obtain the Polish driving license.

Both exams can be completed in English, however it is a bit of a hit or miss based on the centre. It's a good idea to call ahead and verify availability prior to booking your appointment. It's also worth noting that If you don't have sufficient level of Polish to be able to pass the exam, then you'll need to book an interpreter for the day.

Once you have your medical certificate, you need to go to the district authority to get a driver's profile filled in (PKK - Profil Kandydata na Kierowce). You'll need to submit a scan of your passport and proof of your residence in Poland and one current photograph in color.

Then, you enter an office specifically designed for you where they make your personal file, scan your documents and give them to you. You can then begin preparation for your driving test and sign up for driving schools. WORD is available in most major cities, and in smaller ones. However some schools require a fee to run their courses.

2. Theory test

If you have an international driving license that is valid in Poland when you also have an International Driving Permit ("IDP"). You must have an IDP for every vehicle used in Poland for more than six months. It is required to exchange your IDP for a Polish licence if you don't have one. You must satisfy four requirements to be able to complete the process You must be a Polish citizen and you must pass a medical examination and pass a driving test administered by the state and you must have completed your driving lessons at a driving school that has been approved by the government.

You'll need to submit the Driving Candidate Profile, as well as other documents in order to take the state-issued driving test. This includes your ID, your health certificate, a copy of your report from a certified driving instructor, and a copy of your visa or residence permit. The driving test is split into two parts, the theoretical portion and the practical. The theoretical portion includes 32 multiple-choice questions that cover topics as road signs and traffic laws, emergency protocols and safe driving practices. You must answer correctly at least 26 questions to pass.

The practical portion of your driving test is driving on a public highway under the supervision of a trained instructor. During this time an instructor will be observing your ability to observe the rules of the road, particularly in difficult situations such as city streets or highways. The duration of the practice test is around 40 minutes.

Before you can pass the state driving exam you must apply for a PKK (Driving Candidate Profile) at the Province Road Traffic Centers (Wojewodzkie Osrodki Ruchu Drogowego - WORD). You will need your identity document and proof that you have paid the fee required as well as a photograph of yourself. If you don't speak Polish it is possible to be assisted by an experienced interpreter during the exam.

3. Practical test

You'll need to pass the practical test if you're driving on a foreign license. This is a much harder test than the theory and the success rate is very low. You can only take the practical test in the event that you are legally living in Poland. If you're not, your driving licence will be indefinite and when you're stopped by police, you could be fined for driving without a valid driver's license.

In order to take the practical test you have to provide a completed application form that is available online and to be filled out in Polish (Google Translate can help). You will also need an official medical certificate that proves you are qualified to drive.

You will need to present a photo ID, the evidence of your health insurance coverage and one current photograph in colour (size 3,5 cm x 4,5 cm). You must sign up with the department of civil affairs as a driver candidate - this will require you to complete an application for a driving profile for the candidate (RKK) and then receive an ID number to enter into the system.

The process can be difficult and time-consuming, particularly when you're not a native speaker of the Polish language. It is recommended to hire an English-speaking driving instructor and book your lessons well in advance. In certain regions, you can also find driving schools that offer lessons in English.

Anyone seeking a Polish driving license is obliged to provide a copy of the residence permit or visa for non-EU citizens. This is necessary to show that you've lived in Poland for more than 185 days.

The office will require proof of payment for the theory and practical test. The total cost should be about 1500 PLN. There is the option to pay in cash however this doesn't guarantee a quicker processing of the documents. The entire process takes between two and four weeks. In some places it could take longer. Consult your local office if are not sure of the deadlines.

4. Documents

It is important for foreigners wanting to drive in Poland to obtain a Polish driving license to avoid issues with their insurance coverage for cars. However before they can get that license they must pass the theoretical exam, and this process costs them. The good news is that if they're citizens of countries that have signed the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic This process will be much less difficult than for non-natives.

First, they must demonstrate that they have lived in Poland for at minimum six months. This should be confirmed through either a local address registration or a residence permit or a visa. The applicant should also submit the complete application form. The form is available on the internet or at a local office. They should also provide an image of recent date that is 35 x 45 mm as well as documents of identification such as a passport. They must also include a health care certificate that confirms they are qualified to drive.

After they have submitted these documents after which the voivodship office will draft their driving license document to issue. This can take up to nine working days. In cases that require an extensive examination the wait time could be up to 1 month.

A foreign national also needs to submit a copy the medical certificate of their doctor. It is essential to have a valid medical certification since without it, the foreigner will need to retake the theory test, which can extend their waiting period by two months.

After the driving licence is issued and issued, you will need to pay a fee at the office. www.fuehrerscheinn.com is 100 PLN (for EU citizens) and 250 PLN (for non-EU citizens). The fee can be paid by bank transfer, debit or credit card. The applicant will receive the driver's licence at their home address. If, for any reason, the driving license is not issued, an appeal can be made to the Local Government Appeals Board in Rzeszow by contacting the City Mayor.
