The physical adsorption is the main driving force.

The results indicate that the bacteria surface-modified activated carbon can be used effectively as an adsorbent to eliminate Congo red from aqueous solutions.

We recruited 165 older adults from five selected communities in the five districts of Changchun, Jilin Province. Participants were asked to complete a demographic questionnaire, the Short Falls Efficacy Scale-International, and the Tilburg Frailty Indicator. We found that 60% of our participants were frail and that 81% reported a fear of falling. Using binary logistic regression, we found that the participants with fear of falling were 7.2 times more likely to be frail. These findings suggest that fear of falling should be regularly screened in clinical practice to help identify older adults with greater risks of frailty. Future longitudinal studies of larger sample size are needed to confirm the association. Moreover, frailty prevention programs that include strategies to reduce the fear of falling should be tested among community-dwelling older adults.Demonstration of parahydrogen-induced polarization effects in hydrogenations catalyzed by heterogeneous catalysts instead of metal complexes in a homogeneous solution has opened an entirely new dimension for parahydrogen-based research, demonstrating its applicability not only for the production of catalyst-free hyperpolarized liquids and gases and long-lived non-equilibrium spin states for potential biomedical applications, but also for addressing challenges of modern fundamental and industrial catalysis including advanced mechanistic studies of catalytic reactions and operando NMR and MRI of reactors. This essay summarizes the progress achieved in this field by highlighting the research contributed to it by our colleague and friend Kirill V. Kovtunov whose scientific career ended unexpectedly and tragically at the age of 37. His role in this research was certainly crucial, further enhanced by a vast network of his contacts and collaborations at the national and international level.
Clinical experience is a crucial component of dental education as it prepares students for real-world practice. Our study aimed to investigate the transition from preclinical to clinical training experiences of dental students at a regional Australian dental school.

A mixed-methods study was conducted using a survey and focus groups. Participants were dental students who recently transitioned into clinical training. Survey data were analysed quantitatively using descriptive statistics, whilst the qualitative data were thematically analysed using the conceptual framework of organisational socialisation theory (OST).

Forty-eight of the 69 students in the cohort completed the survey and 10 participated in the focus groups. The quantitative findings revealed that the transition was perceived to be abrupt and associated with a heavy workload. However, orientation sessions and engaging in chairside teaching made transitioning into clinical studies easier. Ripasudil datasheet The qualitative findings revealed that the transition nvironment with positive, empowering and motivational outcomes that facilitate a smooth transition.
Interprofessional education (IPE) offers relevant theoretical, conceptual and methodological approaches to the development of effective teamwork competencies.

To analyse an interprofessional experience of teaching-service-community integration carried out at a public university in the South of Brazil.

A case study with a qualitative approach was carried out. The study's participants were thirty-eight undergraduate dental students who attended the IPE activity between 2012 and 2019. Data collection was developed in two sequential steps that included the application of an online instrument and semi-structured interviews. The textual material was interpreted by content analysis, considering Kirkpatrick's evaluation levels (reaction, learning and behaviour).

In the reaction level, students highlighted the contents provided by the National Curricular Guidelines regarding public health system and teamwork, as well as the pedagogical teaching proposal by tutoring groups, which stimulated students' autonomy. try curricular structure to complement uniprofessional education.
Head and neck surgeons are moving away from routine tracheostomy in free-flap reconstruction. We reviewed prophylactic tracheostomy use in patients undergoing oral cavity or oropharynx free-flap reconstruction to identify patient groups who avoided tracheostomy. Secondary aims were to describe complications associated with and without tracheostomy.

A retrospective cohort study was undertaken, using a prospectively maintained database. Inclusion criteria was free-flap reconstruction for an oral cavity or oropharyngeal defect, excluding partial or total laryngectomy. Variables collected included demographics, comorbidity, American Society of Anesthesiologists grade, Charlson Comorbidity Index, tumour site and subsite, extent of resection, surgery duration, tracheostomy, complications, return to theatre and re-intubation.

A total of 344 head and neck free-flap reconstructions were performed between January 2017 and July 2019. A total of 164 (87.7%) oral cavity and 23 (12.3%) oropharyngeal reconstructions wwed almost half of our cohort to avoid tracheostomy. In high-volume institutions with the necessary expertise and support, appropriately selected patients may be safely managed without routine tracheostomy.
This study aimed to explore the role of clinical research coordinators (CRCs) and identify the importance and performance of the role as well as the factors that affect the professional recognition of their role.

A total of 102 CRCs from 10 hospitals were recruited for a survey. The Clinical Trial Nursing Questionnaire scale developed by Ehrenberger and Lillington was used to collect data for the importance-performance analysis. The importance and performance data were plotted on a two-dimensional grid, and multiple stepwise linear regression analysis was used to determine the influencing factors on the CRC role.

The influencing factors on the importance of the CRC role were frequency of protocol assessment, implementation and evaluation and professional nursing role performance. The influencing factors on performance were formal education and training in clinical research, institutional career ladder system for professional development and identification as a principal investigator in research studies.
