The incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disorders (IBD) are increasing around the world due to bacterial infection, abnormal immune response, etc. The conventional medicines for IBD treatment possess serious side effects. Periplaneta americana (P. americana), a traditional Chinese medicine, has been used to treat arthritis, fever, aches, inflammation, and other diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of oligosaccharides from P. Americana (OPA) and its possible mechanisms in vivo. OPA were purified and biochemical characterization was analyzed by HPGPC, HPLC, FT-IR, and GC-MS. Acute colitis mice model was established, the acute toxicity and anti-inflammatory activity were tested in vivo. The results showed OPA with molecular mass of 1.0 kDa were composed of 83% glucose, 6% galactose, 11% xylose, and the backbone was (1→4)-Glcp. OPA had potent antioxidant activities in vitro and significantly alleviated the clinical symptoms of colitis, relieved colon damage without toxic side effects in vivo. OPA exhibited anti-inflammatory activity by regulating Th1/Th2, reducing oxidative stress, preserving intestinal barrier integrity, and inhibiting TLR4/MAPK/NF-κB pathway. Moreover, OPA protected gut by increasing microbial diversity and beneficial bacteria, and reducing pathogenic bacteria in feces. OPA might be the candidate of complementary and alternative medicines of IBD with low-cost and high safety.We aimed to retrospectively compare the perfusion parameters measured from dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of prostate benign lesions and malignant lesions to determine the relationship between perfusion parameters. DCE-MRI was performed in patients with PCa who underwent simultaneous [68Ga]Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-11 positron emission tomography (PET)/MRI. Six perfusion parameters (arrival time (AT), time to peak (TTP), wash-in slope (W-in), wash-out slope (W-out), peak enhancement intensity (PEI), and initial area under the 60-s curve (iAUC)), and a semi-quantitative parameter, standardized uptake values maximum (SUVmax) were calculated by placing regions of interest in the largest area of the lesions. The DCE-MRI parameters between prostate benign and malignant lesions were compared. The DCE-MRI parameters in both the benign and malignant lesions subgroup with SUVmax ≤ 3.0 and SUVmax > 3.0 were compared. The correlation of DCE-MRI parameters was investigated. Malignant lesions demonstrated significantly shorter TTP and higher SUVmax than did benign lesions. In the benign and malignant lesions subgroup, perfusion parameters of lesions with SUVmax ≤ 3.0 show no significant difference to those with SUVmax > 3.0. DCE-MRI perfusion parameters show a close correlation with each other. DCE-MRI parameters reflect the perfusion characteristics of intraprostatic lesions with malignant lesions, demonstrating significantly shorter TTP. The aim of the present study was to assess the adherence of adults from three Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait) to the MedDiet and its association with obesity risk. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 961 men and women (75.7%) aged 20-55 years old. Waist circumference (WC), and hip circumference (HC) were measured waist/hip ratio (WHR) and body mass index (BMI) were calculated. A validated 14-item Questionnaire was used to measure adherence to MedDiet. The mean of the adherence to MedDiet score was 5.9 ± 2.03 for the total sample. An inverse association was observed between the adherence to MedDiet and BMI after adjusting for potential confounders (p = 0.0003 in total participants, and p = 0.001 in women only). A protective effect was seen with a higher adherence to the MedDiet on HC, suggesting that a greater adherence to the MedDiet was associated with a decreased HC (p = 0.04 in total participants, and p = 0.01 in women only). In conclusion, low adherence to the MedDiet among participants from three gulf countries was associated with increased obesity indicators, BMI, and HC.We investigated the combined effect of using slightly acidic electrolyzed water (SAEW), ultrasounds (US), and ultraviolet-C light-emitting diodes (UV-C LED; 275 nm) for decreasing pathogenic Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus (SEA) in fresh-cut vegetables, including carrots, celery, paprika, and cabbage. Survival of pathogenic E. coli and SEA and quality properties of fresh-cut vegetables at 5 and 15 °C for 7 days were also investigated. When combined treatment (SAEW + US + UV-C LED) was applied to fresh-cut vegetables for 3 min, its microbial reduction effect was significantly higher (0.97~2.17 log CFU/g) than a single treatment (p less then 0.05). Overall, the reduction effect was more significant for SEA than for pathogenic E. coli. At 5 °C, SAEW + US and SAEW + US + UV-C LED treatments reduced populations of pathogenic E. coli and SEA in all vegetables. At 15 °C, SAEW + US + UV-C LED treatment inhibited the growth of both pathogens in carrot and celery and extended the shelf life of fresh-cut vegetables by preventing color changes in all vegetables. Although the effects of treatments varied depending on the characteristics of the vegetables and pathogens, UV-C LED can be suggested as a new hurdle technology in fresh-cut vegetable industry.Panchromatic (PAN) images contain abundant spatial information that is useful for earth observation, but always suffer from low-resolution ( LR) due to the sensor limitation and large-scale view field. To address this problem, an improved SR model which involves the self-attention augmented Wasserstein generative adversarial network ( SAA-WGAN) is designed to dig out the reference information among multiple features for detail enhancement. We use an encoder-decoder network followed by a fully convolutional network (FCN) as the backbone to extract multi-scale features and reconstruct the High-resolution (HR) results. To exploit the relevance between multi-layer feature maps, we first integrate a convolutional block attention module (CBAM) into each skip-connection of the encoder-decoder subnet, generating weighted maps to enhance both channel-wise and spatial-wise feature representation automatically.
