To develop this documentary study, we analyzed news reports from September 2009 to August 2015 in two major Brazilian newspaper who make their published articles available electronically in the Lexis Nexis Academic® database. The analyses were conducted using descriptive statistics and association tests. We identified 269 news stories related to these themes during the study period. The reported events occurred mainly in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and 68% of the stories suggested a causal relationship between substance use or mental illness and violence. A marked minority (10%) of the stories made reference to prevention or treatment for the conditions studied. We concluded that the Brazilian press issues incomplete reports on episodes of violence involving people with substance-related problems or psychiatric disorders, emphasizing the relationships between these conditions and potential danger, particularly in cases involving drugs.Higher social relevance has been shown to modulate event-related potentials (ERPs). It is unclear whether such modulations can be observed if one only imagines stimuli to be socially relevant. In a preregistered EEG study (N = 40), participants were presented neutral, positive and negative personality-descriptive adjectives, and given a subsequent feedback revealing whether or not the adjective described their personality. While it was emphasized that feedback occurred randomly, participants were asked either to treat the feedback information as randomly chosen or to imagine it represented a veridical social feedback. Imagined social context increased EPN, P3, and LPP amplitudes to feedback. Importantly, social context and emotional content interacted, resulting in enhanced processing of imagined social negative feedback for the N1 and EPN. This was accompanied by anorexia and non-bilious vomiting. Computed tomography angiogram (CTA) demonstrated a wide neck large celiac artery aneurysm (60 mm diameter). Endovascular repair of the aneurysm was performed using stent graft of the aorta and transcatheter coil embolization of the aneurysm sac. Technical success was confirmed by interruption of flow in the aneurysm, and preservation of distal native circulation at the conclusion of the procedure. One-week post-embolization, a CTA demonstrated complete thrombosis of the aneurysm. On follow-up CTA at 3, 6, and 12 months after embolization, the aneurysm has completely thrombosed and decreased in size to 24 mm. Patient remains asymptomatic till date.TP53 mutations are the most occurred mutation in HNSCC which might affect the ion channel genes. We aim to investigate the ion channel gene alteration under TP53 mutation and their prognostic implication. The overall mutation status of HNSCC were explored. By screening the TP53-associated ion channel genes (TICGs), an ion channel prognostic signature (ICPS) was established through a series of machine learning algorithms. The ICPS was then evaluated and its clinical significance was explored. 82 TICGs differentially expressed between TP53WT and TP53MUT were screened. Using univariate regression analysis and LASSO regression analysis and multivariate regression analysis, an ICPS containing 7 ion channel genes was established. A series of evaluation was carried out which proved the predictive ability of ICPS. Functional analysis of ICPS revealed that cancer-related pathways were enriched in high-risk group. Next, for clinical application, a nomogram was constructed based on ICPS and other independent clinicopathological factors. TP53 mutation status strongly affects the expression of ion channel genes. The ICPM we have identified is a strong indicator for HNSCC prognosis and could help with patient stratification as well as identification of novel drug targets.Aim We aimed to assess the effect of a functional polymorphism of CYP3A5 on lumefantrine pharmacokinetics. Patients & methods Sixty-nine women diagnosed with malaria received standard doses of artemether-lumefantrine. Concentration-time data for lumefantrine and genotyping data were obtained for each participant. Pharmacokinetic-genotype associative relationships were assessed using linear regressions, Mann-Whitney U-test or Kruskal-Wallis statistics. Results Average age and weight (standard deviation) of the patients were 33 (6.8) years and 59.5 (11.6) kg, respectively. CYP3A5*3 genotype associated with the log-transformed maximum concentration with the median (interquartile range) values of 8279 (6516-13,420) and 6331 (4093-8631) ng/ml (p = 0.032) among the carriers and noncarriers of CYP3A5*3, respectively. Besides, the NR1I3 c.152-1089T>C genotypes had an associative trend with the lumefantrine area under the curve (AUC0-96h) and clearance. ConclusionCYP3A5*3 genetic variant is associated with a high maximum plasma concentration of lumefantrine. This warrants further investigations on the association between CYP3A5*3 gene variants, lumefantrine pharmacokinetics and electrophysiological effect.
