Significant differences were detected regarding AWSS, and its correlations with non-Newtonian importance factors were discussed. Additionally, simulations using the non-Newtonian model were computationally faster than those using the Newtonian model. These findings distinguish good importance factors for identifying non-Newtonian rheology and encourage the use of a non-Newtonian model to assess Fontan hemodynamics.France has been identified with one of the highest rates of cannabis consumption of Western European countries. Yet we lack data in medical students who are at risk of addictive behavior. The objective of the study is to determine the prevalence of cannabis consumption and cannabis use disorder (CUD) among French medical students and their association with psychotropic drug consumption and psychosocial factors. Medical students were recruited from 35 French universities of medicine through administration mailing lists and social networks, between December 2016 and May 2017. Cannabis consumption was self-declared by anonymous questionnaire and CUD was defined by a Cannabis Abuse Screening Test (CAST) score ≥ 3. 10,985 medical students with a mean age of 21.8 years (± 3.3) were included, 32% of which were men. Overall, 1642 [14.9 (14.3; 15.6)%] reported cannabis consumption and 622 [5.7 (5.2; 6.1)%] students were identified with CUD at screening. Men were at two-time higher risk of cannabis consumption and thregroup.PURPOSE This study aims to assess outcomes of pediatric patients with blunt traumatic brain injury (TBI) with a presenting Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of 3. METHODS After local institutional review board approval, we identified patients ages 0 to15 years with blunt TBI and a reported GCS of 3 between 2007 and 2017 from a pediatric level 1 trauma center prospective registry. Exclusion criteria were cardiac death on arrival and penetrating injury. We recorded clinical variables from patients with a non-pharmacologic GCS of 3 and pupillary exam documented by a neurosurgical attending or resident. The original Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) was used to compare with other studies. Importance of variables to survival was calculated. RESULTS A total of 88 patients (mean age 6.9 years) were included with a mortality rate of 68%. Twelve percent had a poor long-term outcome (GOS 2 or 3) while 20% had a good long-term outcome (GOS 4 or 5). Median follow-up was 1.8 years. Initial group comparison revealed patients in group 1 (survivors) had less hypotension on arrival (14% SBP 5 mm, or time from injury to hospital arrival or time to surgery were not statistically significant. Classification tree analysis showed that the most important variable for survival was pupillary exam; mortality was 92% in presence of bilateral, fixed dilated pupils. The relative importance of initial temperature, MOI, and hypotension to survivability was 0.79, 0.75, and 0.47, respectively. CONCLUSION Twenty percent of our pediatric non-pharmacologic GCS 3 cohort had a good functional outcome. Lack of bilaterally fixed and dilated pupils was the most important factor for survival. Temperature, MOI, and hypotension also correlated with survival. The data support selective aggressive management for these patients.PURPOSE Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is a major risk factor for external ventricular drain infection. Here, we present a surgical technique to reduce the possibility of CSF leak at the external ventricular drain (EVD) exit site in high-risk patients. METHODS Vertical mattress sutures are placed circumferentially around the EVD catheter tract as it passes under the skin, so to close off the tract along which CSF may travel toward the exit site. RESULTS Specific case examples are discussed where the introduction of this technique was found to be helpful in stopping exit-site CSF leak. CONCLUSION In our experience, these surgical steps are useful adjuncts that should be considered in all high-risk patients undergoing EVD placement. The feasibility of coordinated use of water-based drilling cuttings (WDC), fly ash, and phosphogypsum (PG) as raw materials for the preparation of WDC non-autoclaved aerated concrete (WNAAC) was evaluated by laboratory experiment. The results showed that the pozzolanic reaction of the multi-component cementitious system containing 40% (in mass) of WDC is significantly promoted. Newly formed C-S-H gel and ettringite with the uniform distribution of fibrous and flake-like shape occur, presenting a denser and interlock microstructure. In addition, after cured by steam at 80 °C for 24 h, the mechanical property and unit weight of the WNAAC prepared with 40% WDC fully meet the B06, A3.5 grade of China state standard (GB/T11968-2006). Environmental performance tests confirm that the WNAAC prepared with 40% WDC does not create any secondary contamination.Following the global alertness and consciousness over the increasing warming and heating on the ground of climate change, over 200 countries including Nigeria have committed themselves in reducing this global phenomenon. Nigeria being among the countries placed with individual country's task and also known as a one-economy operating county because of its oil and gas gifting is subject to investigation of its efforts and result in decarburization of its economy and environment. The oil and gas sector of Nigeria has been identified as the major sector where the heavy utilization of energy is centered on through mining and exploration activities of these foreign companies who have investments and stakes in the main stream sector. This is the major reason of adopting FDI as a major variable to test the performance of the environmental condition of the country. Compound Library screening To effectively carry this research, the authors, adopt, cointegration test and the linear ARDL test to unveil the true picture of the foreign investors impact on carbon emission reduction. Among the findings is the positive but not significant interaction between economic growth and carbon emission which infers the capability of the economic operation to initiate the degradation in the environment via pollutant emission. Energy use depicts inducement to carbon emission with positive association with carbon emission. FDI established both negative and positive relationship with carbon emission at initial stage and lag 1 respectively. All the variables point towards carbon emission increase in the country which call for serious attention towards decarburization of the country to fall in line with the agreed policy of Paris formation.
