Koalas are not bears as many people think. They aren't even related to any sort of bear. The koalas is related to the kangaroo and wombat but the closest is the wombat species. The only reason they are called a koala bear is because they look like a teddy. In Southern Australia a koalas fur is longer and shaggier than in the Northern parts. A koalas nickname is the Native Bear. Koalas are warm blooded just like humans. A koalas young is called a cub and they are born alive and blind. Cubs drink there mothers milk only in day. Even though koalas look cuddly but they have very sharp claws and teeth. The adult koala is generally 25-30 inches. Koalas breed at around the age of ten but only in the summer after that they live for a following ten years. If anyone, the koalas will know beauty sleep they sleep for around 19 hours a day. Shockingly over two million koalas had been killed in the time period of 1908 and 1927 a human is the koalas biggest enemy. Thankfully koalas are protected by law unfortunately their homes and food aren't.
