Clinical experience is an important way of resolving preregistration challenges. Negative feelings toward pursuing a career in mental health nursing may be modified by well-structured practicums.
To explore nursing student perspectives of clinical practicums in mental health in Saudi Arabia for the purpose of enhancement of nurse education in mental health care.
This qualitative study used thematic analysis from semistructured focus group interviews of 20 female undergraduate nursing students. Inductive outcomes and emergent conceptual data were reviewed by investigators, doctoral prepared faculty peers, and members of the sample. NVivo 10.1 software was used to suggest conceptual groupings into themes based on inductive codes.
The core theme-enhancement of mental health care skills-comprised four emerging subthemes, including the application of theory for clinical improvement, positive feelings, and motivation toward removal of discrimination and stigmatization, experience with apprehension, anxiety, that undergraduate clinical mental health placement will contribute valuable skills and viewpoints to nursing students who aim to enter professional practice in all areas and especially mental health.
Cross-sectional study.
To compare handgrip strength (HGS), paraspinal muscles' (PSM) volume, and their effects on clinical symptom severity between the patients with sagittal imbalance (SI) and symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).
A total of 54 paired consecutive patients with SI and LSS were enrolled after propensity score matching. Preoperative HGS, cross-sectional area (CSA) of psoas (PS) and multifidus (MF) muscles, and patient-reported measures, including visual analog scale (VAS) for back/ leg pain, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and EuroQOL (EQ-5D) were compared between both groups. Within each SI and LSS group, patient-reported measures were compared between high and low HGS subgroups. The correlation of HGS and CSA of PSMs to patient-reported measures was evaluated.
There was no difference in HGS between 2 groups, however, the CSA of PS and MF muscles in SI group was significantly lower than those in LSS group. Patients with low HGS showed inferior results for ODI and EQ-5D, compared to those with high HGS subgroup in both SI and LSS groups. HGS and CSA of MF muscle were correlated with ODI in both groups.
There was no significant difference between the SI and LSS groups in HGS, however, PSMs' volume in SI group were significantly lower than those in LSS group. Therefore SI would be associated with loss of localized muscle mass in back area, rather than global skeletal muscle weakness. HGS and PSMs' volume were adversely associated with functional status in SI and LSS patients.

Unfortunately, insufficient education of patients regarding medical science and clinical recommendations can lead to delayed therapy, resulting in complications during adulthood. We report a rare case of a large congenital ASD in a 20-year-old man. Echocardiography showed a 67-mm ostium secundum defect and moderate mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. The patient underwent transthoracic ASD repair along with mitral and tricuspid valvuloplasty. This report emphasizes the importance of educating patients about congenital malformations and potential interventions in developing countries, particularly in rural communities.Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) represents an unfavorable evolution of peripheral artery disease, characterized by pain at rest, ulceration, and gangrene and also by an increased risk of cardiovascular events, amputations, and death. According to scientific literature, in almost one third of cases affected by CLTI, defined as no-option CLTI patients, revascularization strategies are not feasible. In the past decade, several studies investigated the role of therapeutic angiogenesis through cell autologous therapy, administered through intramuscular injections or multiple local intralesional and perilesional injections. In this article, we report the case of a necrotizing inflammatory reaction in a patient affected by CLTI and chronic leg wounds that occurred on the multiple injection sites after autologous peripheral blood-derived mononuclear cells (PB-TNCs) transplantation. Since the patient was affected by corticosteroid-induced skin atrophy and rheumatoid arthritis, we hypothesize that an increased skin fragility and a mechanism of immune-mediated pathergy could have been main factors leading to worsening of wounds. This case report strongly suggests the urgent need to better define the indications and contraindications of cell therapy, and further studies of adequate methodology are required to definitively assess the efficacy and safety of autologous cell therapy by local injections of PB-TNCs in patients with chronic inflammatory disorder, such as rheumatoid arthritis, especially in case of concomitant marked skin atrophy. Pending definitive evidence from literature, a strong caution is needed in patients affected by chronic systemic inflammatory diseases, since multiple injections, acting as mechanical stimulus and pathergy trigger, might exacerbate a severe and uncontrolled inflammatory response.
To describe the magnitude and spectrum of abnormal ocular findings other than retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) detected during an ROP telescreening programme.
Retrospective review of the records of all premature babies screened for ROP from August 2015 to December 2019.
A total 9105 babies were screened during the study period with total 17,075 imaging sessions. Non-ROP ocular abnormalities were seen in 566 eyes of 383 babies (4.2%) including 207 male (54%) and 176 female babies (46%). Posterior segment abnormalities were seen in 88.2% babies (338/383) with haemorrhage being the most common (77%, 295/383). find more Anterior segment pathologies were seen in 12% babies (46/383) with congenital cataract being the most common pathology requiring surgical intervention. Other findings included globe abnormalities in 0.8% babies (3/383), adnexal disorders in 0.5% babies (2/383) and squint in 0.3% babies (1/383). Rare life-threatening conditions such as retinoblastoma and lipaemia retinalis were also detected. Eighty-seven babies (22.
