Because of difficulties controlling the thyrotoxic state, the indication for total thyroidectomy was established. Total thyroidectomy was subsequently performed using local anesthesia combined using a hypnosis-analgesia technique instead of intravenous sedation. The intervention and the post-operative course were uneventful. Discussion A well-established therapist-patient relationship is crucial for a successful induction of hypnosis. Patient motivation and expectations are equally important for a successful implementation of this approach. Conclusion We conclude that hypnosis combined with local anesthesia provides an effective alternative in selected patients with very high anesthesiological risk.Introduction Perioperative chemotherapy could improve oncological outcomes for patients with advanced colon cancer. However, the effectiveness of triplet chemotherapy in the neoadjuvant setting is still unknown. Presentation of case A 61-year-old man was referred to our hospital due to abdominal distention. Abdominal computed tomography showed a huge, 18-cm mass in the right upper abdomen. Biopsy showed well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. Locally advanced transverse colon cancer T4b N2a M0 Stage IIIC was diagnosed. Considering the extensive invasion to surrounding organs and difficulties in achieving margin-negative surgery, an emergency ileostomy was performed first. Then, neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) consisting of a combination of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin, irinotecan, and leucovorin (FOLFOXIRI) was planned, followed by primary tumor resection. After 6 courses of treatment, the primary tumor shrank remarkably. Finally, laparoscopic radical extended right hemi-colectomy was performed. There were no residual tumor cells in resected specimens, including the primary tumor and surrounding lymph nodes. The pathological diagnosis was complete response. Conclusion A case of pathological complete response after neoadjuvant treatment followed by radical resection was reported. Further research is needed to confirm the appropriate indications for neoadjuvant FOLFOXIRI therapy for patients with LACC.This study aims to enhance the color and microbiological qualities of a raw beef using natural ingredients. Nitroso-hemoglobin (NO-Hb) integrated with vitamin C (VC), calcium lactate, and ginger complexation were used as natural inhibitors against the growth of aerobic and pathogenic bacteria, namely (Escherichia coli (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), and Salmonella. NO-Hb inhibited E. coli, S. aureus, and Salmonella, and enhanced the color stability more than nitrite in the minced beef model. After the multiexponential analysis of relaxation decays, the water component (T2b) was analyzed using the low-field NMR. The results indicated that, at the 7th d of cold-storage the third component (T2) was detected. Significant correlations were observed between T21 and T22 relaxation times and water-holding capacity in minced beef, implying that the LF-NMR measurements could be an efficient method for the determination and prediction of beef freshness. NO-Hb- ginger mixture, as a novel ingredient, could be used instead of nitrite in terms of meat safety.Shewanella baltica is the specific spoilage microorganism of Pseudosciaena crocea during low-temperature storage. Exploring the correlation between cold adaptability and spoilage potential may provide a new perspective for prolonging shelf life of aquatic products. In the present study, we investigated the synthesis pathway of unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) responsible for regulating cold adaptability in Shewanella baltica and its effect on spoilage potential. FabR and FadR, as key regulators of membrane unsaturated fatty acids synthesis pathway, were identified in S. baltica. FabR was significantly down-regulated at 4 °C compared to at 30 °C, yet FadR displayed the opposite results. By overexpressing fabR and fadR genes at 4 °C, we found that FabR and FadR had negative and positive effects on UFA content and membrane fluidity as well as spoilage potential, respectively. These data indicated that FabR and FadR functioned collectively to increase the membrane fluidity for better cold adaptability at low temperature, resulting in the maintenance of spoilage potential of S.
