The SI of the DWI of adenocarcinoma was significantly higher compared to hyperplasia (P = .03, φ = 1). The mean ADC values of the adenocarcinoma were significantly lower than that of hyperplasia (P = .03, r = .82). Thus, less enhancement on MRI, and low ADC value on MRI may help to detect prostate adenocarcinoma. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.INTRODUCTION The need for transvenous lead extractions due to cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED)-related infections continues to rise. Current guidelines recommend complete device removal in the setting of an active infection, which can be challenging in pacemaker-dependent patients. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed all leadless pacemaker implants between January 2018 and November 2019 and identified a subset of patients who had undergone a concomitant CIED extraction in the setting of an active infection. Baseline characteristics, procedural details, and clinical follow-ups were recorded. RESULTS Seventeen patients received a leadless pacemaker during the same procedure as the CIED extraction. There were no procedural complications. All patients were being treated for an active CIED infection at the time of the procedure. Fourteen patients (82.4%) were completely pacemaker-dependent and four patients (23.5%) had positive blood cultures at the time of the leadless pacemaker implantation. During a median follow-up of 143 days (interquartile range 57, 181 days), there were no recurrent infections. CONCLUSION Simultaneous leadless pacemaker implantation and CIED extraction are safe and feasible in the setting of an active infection. This strategy may be particularly useful in patients that are pacemaker-dependent. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Cancer cells use elevated glutathione (GSH) levels as an inner line of defense to evade apoptosis and develop drug resistance. In this study, we describe a novel 2,4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl (DNS) protected 2-hydroxyisophthalamide system that exploits GSH for its activation into free 2-hydroxyisophthalamide forming supramolecular M+ /Cl- channels. Better permeation of the DNS protected compound into MCF-7 cells compared to the free 2-hydroxyisophthalamide and GSH-activatable ion transport resulted in higher cytotoxicity, which was associated with increased oxidative stress that further reduced the intracellular GSH levels and altered mitochondrial membrane permeability leading to the induction of the intrinsic apoptosis pathway. The GSH-activatable transport-mediated cell death was further validated in rat insulinoma cells (INS-1E); wherein the intracellular GSH levels showed a direct correlation to the resulting cytotoxicity. Lastly, the active compound was found to restrict the growth and proliferation of 3D spheroids of MCF-7 cells with efficiency similar to that of the anticancer drug doxorubicin. © 2020 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.BACKGROUND Pulmonary vein isolation is the cornerstone of catheter ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, with advanced left atrial (LA) structural changes, additional targeted catheter ablation of low-voltage zones (LVZs) has produced favorable results. Therefore, with the advent of single-shot techniques, it would be helpful to predict the presence of LVZs before an ablation procedure. OBJECTIVE We hypothesized that computed tomography (CT)-derived left atrial volume index (LAVI), in combination with other objective parameters, could be used to develop a score able to predict the presence of LVZs. METHODS In a large cohort of patients undergoing their first AF ablations, comprehensive echocardiographic evaluations and cardiac CT were performed. During the electrophysiological studies, LA geometry and electroanatomic voltage maps were created. LVZs were defined as areas ≥1 cm2 with bipolar peak-to-peak voltage amplitudes ≤0.5 mV. RESULTS In a derivation cohort of 374 patients, predictors of LVZs were identified by regression analysis and used to build the Zentralklinik Bad Berka and University of L'Aquila (ZAQ) score (age ≥65 years; female sex; and CT-LAVI ≥57 mL/m2 ). The ZAQ score of 2 points accurately identified the presence and the extent of LVZs (area under the curve [AUC], 0.809; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.758-0.861; P  less then  .001 and 3 [interquartile range, IQR, 1.5-4.5] vs 7 cm2 [IQR 4-9]; P = .001). In a validation cohort of 103 patients, the predictive value of the score was confirmed (AUC, 0.793; 95% CI, 0.709-0.878; P  less then  .001 and 4 [IQR, 2-7] vs 11.5 cm2 [IQR, 8-16.5]; P = .001). CONCLUSIONS The ZAQ score identifies LVZs and may be useful for planning the ablation strategy ahead of time. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.AIM We aimed to estimate the network structures of depressive symptoms using network analysis and evaluated the geographic regional differences in theses network structures among Asian patients with depressive disorders. METHODS Using data from the Research on Asian Psychotropic Prescription Patterns for Antidepressants (REAP-AD), the network of the ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for depressive episode was estimated from 1174 Asian patients with depressive disorders. The node strength centrality of all ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for a depressive episode was estimated using a community-detection algorithm. In addition, networks of depressive symptoms were estimated separately among East Asian patients and South or Southeast Asian patients. Moreover, networks were estimated separately among Asian patients from high-income countries and those from middle-income countries. RESULTS Persistent sadness, fatigue, and loss of interest were the most centrally situated within the network of depressive symptoms in Asian patients with depressive disorders overall. A community-detection algorithm estimated that when excluding psychomotor disturbance as an outlier, the other nine symptoms formed the largest clinically meaningful cluster. Roxadustat Geographic and economic variations in networks of depressive symptoms were evaluated. CONCLUSION Our findings demonstrated that the typical symptoms of the ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for depressive episode are the most centrally situated within the network of depressive symptoms. Furthermore, our findings suggested that cultural influences related to geographic and economic distributions of participants could influence the estimated depressive symptom network in Asian patients with depressive disorders. © 2020 The Authors.
