Martin Luther King: Led peope in a nonviolent, yet assertive protests. Helped to raise awareness of racial inequalities. Represtentative for the freedom of African Americans. Montgomery Bus Boycott which he helped to promote. His boycott also became a turning point in the civil rights struggle. Martin Luther King helped to organise a strike where coloured people refused to use any of the city buses.

Same: Led people in non-violent protests. Stood up for what they belived in. Were looked up to by many people. They both were discriminated atleast many times in their lives. Both won for what they fought so hard for. They were leaders.

Mahatama Ghandi: Led Indians in religous, serene prostests. Representative for the freedom of Indians; Campaigned for Indian independence. In India, he is known as ‘Father of the Nation’. He also supported the British under certain conditions. It was in South Africa that Gandhi first experimented with campaigns of civil disobedience and protest he called his non violent protests – satyagraha. He became the leader of the Indian nationalist movement campaigning for home rule or Swaraj. Gandhi successfully instigated a series of non violent protests.
